The fatwa affects the decreasing number of people who donated. This study showed that MUI's communication strategy through press conferences in public spaces by inviting several mass media has a better impact. The information about this fatwa become viral both in mainstream media, online and social media. More over, the Islamic communication strategy with the pattern of ‘qaul syadid’ makes the public confident with strong propositions and higher public expectations on MUI, so that the fatwa is effective. Another strategy is ‘qaul layyinan’, where MUI builds cooperation with local government to make laws as regulations to overcome the social impact of beggars on the street. Abstract

The flow of information through social media (social media) also influences people's behaviour. The rise of various news in social media which leads to religious propaganda is increasingly difficult to stem. Propaganda in communication or media studies does not always have a negative connotation. But in this discussion, propaganda is more directed at the provocation dimension, precisely the issue of religion becomes propaganda or politicized by elites and hoaxes spreaders to provoke the people with massive information distribution.

Abstract

Religious propaganda through social media is quite massive and varied as part of the problems of contemporary propaganda. Hoax pack is quite dominating. Religion becomes a propaganda tool and political commodity and other interest agenda. In this context the religious process is interpreted to be a commodity of propaganda filled with hatred, misguided interpretation of a lie so that the face of religion becomes opaque, congested with slander and fighting which leads to conflict. Indeed religion becomes sacred and spreads peace. But on hoax-laden social media, the face of religion is covered in unusual information from the values of peace and truth of the religion itself. Especially if it touches on practical political issues, religion sometimes becomes a mere propaganda tool. The face of religion on social media looks so bad that there must be an ongoing process of education.

Abstract

The global commitment to fighting the pandemic is not only about medical and epidemiological work, but also about how information about the disease is disseminated. The threat of the Covid-19 infodemic is no less dangerous than the pandemic itself. The phenomenon of infodemic has distorted the work of science and reduced public trust in state authorities. This research has identified, mapped, and analyzed official government responses to fake news attacks on social media. This study uses an interpretive-phenomenological approach, related to the spread and belief of fake news about Covid-19 in Indonesia. Data analysis uses the Nvivo-12 Pro application, as an artificial intelligence tool to support data exploration from various sources. The results show that the quality of media literacy, public communication performance, and the effectiveness of government regulations have become part of the challenges in mitigating infodemic. The level of public trust in information from social media contributes to the decline in trust in fake news about Covid-19. Stimulation from the social media news that does not control the belief in myths and false information about Covid-19. Content creators who have produced, posted, and shared on social media channels that are less critical, have an impact on the infodemic situation. The solution is to increase media literacy education and the effectiveness of law enforcement in mitigating the infodemic in Indonesia.

Abstract

For journalists, the development of the digital age is like two blades for their profession. Digitization makes it easy for journalists to find news topics over the Internet. A wealth of information and news, whether from the general public or from journalists, contributes to the potential for false information, or so-called hoaxes. Also, the cultural issues of covering journalists have turned into journalist transfers. This condition occurs because many journalists are out of balance with their understanding of the ethical code of journalism. Journalists, especially Muslim journalists, are tasked with performing the prophetic mission of telling the truth and the good news and issuing warnings. One of the efforts to implement the concept of prophetic journalism for journalists is the Journalist Skills Test organized by the Press Council. This article describes the value of prophetic journalism in the journalism proficiency testing process. As a result of the research obtained, the Journalism Proficiency Test, which includes an ethical code as test material, consciously or unknowingly seeks to implement prophetic values in the journalism profession. The 11 Journalism Proficiency Test Criteria implement the characteristics of the Prophet (Shiddiq, Tabligh, Amanah, and Fathonah), the core competencies of prophetic journalism.
