Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ethnomathematics using Sipirok woven fabric patterns on students' creativity skills in the plane geometry material for Grade VII-2. This research adopts an experimental method with the goal of enhancing students' creativity through the integration of ethnomathematics using Sipirok woven fabric patterns. The sample of this study consisted of 40 students from classes VII-1 and VII-2. The pre-test results revealed that the control class achieved an average score of 59.9, while the experimental class obtained an average score of 58.2. After the implementation of the experimental treatment, the post-test results showed an improvement in creativity skills, with the experimental class achieving an average score of 78.35 and the control class achieving 72.5. The average score of 78.35 falls into the “moderate” category for students' creativity skills. According to the criteria, a class is considered to have achieved creativity skills if it has reached at least the “moderate” category. Based on the comparison of the pre-test and post-test results, there was an increase in students' creativity skills in the experimental class, rising from an average of 58.2 to 78.35. The hypothesis test results showed a significance value of 8.13 > 2.024, indicating that the use of ethnomathematics with Sipirok woven fabric patterns has a significant effect on the creativity skills of Grade VII students. Furthermore, the Sipirok woven fabric patterns can be associated with mathematical concepts, particularly in the study of plane geometry. This connection was supported by interview findings from a Sipirok woven fabric artisan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of Realistic Mathematics Education (PMR) approach on the creative thinking ability of VIII grade students at SMPN 3 Muara Batang Gadis. The research used quasi-experiment method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class that received treatment with the PMR approach and the control class that received conventional learning. Data were collected through a mathematical creative thinking test that included four indicators: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the average posttest scores of the experimental (80.2) and control (70.4) groups, with a t-test result of 6.33 and a p-value of 0.000. In addition, the scores on each creative thinking indicator were higher in the PMR group than the control group. This shows that the PMR approach is able to improve students' creative thinking skills as a whole. PMR-based learning encourages students to think more flexibly, creatively, and be able to connect math concepts with real life. Thus, PMR can be an effective alternative learning model in improving the quality of mathematics learning in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) learning model on mathematics learning outcomes of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Muara Batang Gadis. The method used was quantitative pseudo experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two classes, namely experimental class taught using AIR model and control class using conventional method. The instrument used was a math learning outcome test in the form of multiple choice and description, which was given before and after treatment. Data analysis was conducted through normality test, homogeneity, t-test, and N-Gain calculation. The results showed a significant increase in the average post-test score in the experimental class. The N-Gain value of the experimental class reached 0.627 (medium-high category), while the control class was only 0.365 (medium category). The t-test showed a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. Thus, the AIR learning model is proven effective in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes and is recommended to be applied in the learning process at school.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance students' mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of the cooperative learning model STAD combined with the guided discovery method. The research was conducted in Class VII-2 of SMP Negeri 2 Batangtoru during the 2023/2024 academic year, focusing on fraction material. This learning model was chosen for its ability to foster collaboration among students while actively guiding them to discover learning concepts. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, consisting of two cycles. Each cycle involved stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results revealed significant improvements in students' learning outcomes between Cycle I and Cycle II. The average class score increased from 71.1 to 81, while the classical mastery level rose from 71.4% to 89.3%. Students' responses to the learning process also improved significantly, with the average questionnaire score rising from 80.4 in Cycle I to 91.6 in Cycle II. These findings confirm the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model STAD combined with guided discovery in creating a conducive learning environment and enhancing students' understanding of abstract materials. This research provides valuable insights for implementing innovative teaching methods in schools and contributes to the development of more effective and adaptive strategies for teaching mathematics.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the direct effect of implementing "The Influence of the Think Pair Share (TPS) Learning Model on Student Mathematics Learning Outcomes on the Subject of Lines and Series at SMA Negeri 2 Siabu". The research method used is classroom action research using two cycles carried out in the first semester with Number Pattern Material. The population in this study was 59 students in class The class used as a sample is class XI MIPA-2 SMA at SMA Negeri 2 Siabu which will use the Think Pair Share (TPS) Learning Model in learning. The results obtained from this research are that the ability of students' learning outcomes in learning Mathematics through the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model for class Fair” in cycle I, then increased to 88.55 in the “Good” category in cycle II. The results obtained in cycle II showed that the expected categories had been fulfilled, namely with an average score of 75 and classical completion of 75% of students getting a minimum score of Good
