The control system method is becoming very important, given that the resources to be used in this drying system are renewable energy with a time limit. This drying system also uses the Internet of things to monitor and regulate the temperature of the cabinet room. In order to achieve optimal system performance, an intelligent control system method is proposed to control the temperature of the cabinet room in order to achieve the desired target of the user by using the Smart Fuzzy method. The control system method will be tested on a computer using software simulations. The proposed Smart Fuzzy method will be compared with the PID method to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Smart Fuzzy is a control method that uses Fuzzy logic to make decisions about the size of the input signal system. This method uses a rule-based approach derived from human knowledge. The results obtained from the software simulation show that the Smart Fuzzy method has better performance than the PID method. From the output oscillation, it can be seen that using the Smart Fuzzy method is smaller than using the PID method. Keywords: Smart Fuzzy, rule base, logic, medicinal plants, room temperature

Abstract

Each type of plant has a different response to light, there are some plants that are very sensitive to direct sunlight and too high temperatures and some that are not. This research will take part in producing automatic medicinal plant drying products using the PID method and with the help of a microcontroller as an input and output processor, which will be used for the herbal medicine industry. The supply of load that will be used in this product comes from a combination of direct sunlight energy and solar panels to produce the right drying method and as needed. When the solar energy received by the dryer is excessive, the microcontroller will order the cooler to work and when the heat received is smaller than what has been set, the microcontroller will order the heater to operate. This product is expected to help the community and herbal medicine businesspeople to produce good quality drugs and can be mass produced. From the results of the research obtained is testing the heating control system, indicating that the control system can control the temperature in order to reach the specified target.

Abstract

HMG-CoA reductase is an essential enzyme responsible for the biosynthesis of cholesterol. Hyperactivity of HMG-CoA reductase will increase cholesterol production, leading to the elevation of blood cholesterol levels. Inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase is one way to block cholesterol biosynthesis to lower blood cholesterol levels. This study evaluated the inhibitory potential of iota-, kappa-, and lambda-carrageenan against HMG-CoA reductase. The study was undertaken by in silico method using a molecular docking approach via Autodock 4.2 assisted by ADT graphical user interface. HMG-CoA reductase co-crystal structure was used as the target, and iota-, kappa-, and lambda-carrageenan as the test ligands. The result revealed that iota- and lambda-carrageenan possess an excellent affinity to HMG-CoA reductase with the free binding energy of -12.44 and -11.87 kcal/mol and Ki value of 0.765 and 2.01 nM, respectively, which is found to be better than Simvastatin and the native ligand. The compounds' chemical properties influenced the molecules' molecular interactions affecting their affinity. The number of SO4 groups is assumed to affect the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitory activity of iota-, kappa-, and lambda-carrageenan. Abstract

Background: Hair is crucial for both aesthetic appearance and protection against sun damage. Shampoo is vital in hair care, often formulated with natural ingredients to enhance its effectiveness. Virgin coconut oil (VCO) and aloe vera extract are two ingredients known for their roles as moisturizers and conditioners, as well as nutrients and emollients. Objective: The study aimed to evaluate and optimize the stability and physical characteristics of shampoo containing VCO and aloe vera. Methods: The primary surfactant, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), was tested in concentrations of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%. The shampoos were prepared using an emulsification method and were evaluated based on organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, specific gravity, and viscosity. The formula that met all Indonesia National Standard (SNI) requirements was selected for further testing, including a cycling test to assess stability. Results: The findings indicate that the formula 5 (F5) containing 10% sodium lauryl sulfate exhibited optimal physical characteristics. Throughout six rounds of cycling tests, no phase separation was observed in F5, underscoring its stability. Conclusion: The optimized shampoo formula containing VCO and aloe vera (F5) demonstrated compliance with the required physical characteristics and stability standards. This formula presents a viable option for effective hair care, combining the beneficial properties of its natural ingredients with chemical stability.

Abstract

Background: The Indonesian pharmaceutical industry relies heavily on imported pharmaceutical raw materials (PRMs), with 90-95% of materials sourced from abroad, leading to increased production costs. Porang tuber (Amorphophallus oncophyllus) contains glucomannan with adhesive properties, making it a potential local alternative for tablet binding agents. Purpose: To optimize bay leaf extract (Syzygium polyanthum) tablet formulation using porang tuber flour and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as binders through simplex lattice design (SLD). Methods: Porang flour was prepared and characterized for moisture and calcium oxalate content. A tablet formulation optimization study was conducted using Design Expert 13 with porang flour (5-10%) and PVP (0-5%) as independent variables. Responses evaluated included angle of repose, tablet hardness, and disintegration time. The optimized formula was verified and comprehensively characterized. Results: The optimum formula contained 9.86% porang flour and 0.14% PVP, with a desirability value of 0.98. The tablets exhibited satisfactory physical properties: angle of repose 24.70±0.36°, hardness 6.29±0.19 kg, friability 0.51±0.03%, and disintegration time 8.46±0.69 minutes. Statistical analysis confirmed no significant differences between predicted and experimental values (p>0.05). Conclusion: Porang flour can effectively replace synthetic binders in tablet formulations, producing tablets that meet Indonesian Pharmacopoeia standards while reducing dependence on imported excipients.
