Abstract

One of the obstacles in cultivating catfish (Clarias sp.) is its low feed efficiency. Therefore, a breakthrough innovation is needed in catfish cultivation to increase the efficiency of feed utilization which will lead to increase the production and profits in catfish cultivation businesses. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of supplementation of pineapple and banana stem crude extract on the growth performance of catfish in flooded peat ponds. In this study, pineapple and banana stem crude extract was mixed into the feed at doses of 0 (A), pineapple  stem crude extract 6% (B), banana stem crude extract 2% (C), and combination pineapple 6% and banana stem crude extract 2% (D) with three repetitions. Fish with an initial weight of 1.25 g were randomly stocked in 12 nets sizing 1 x 1 x 1 m3 installed in earthen ponds at a density of 40 fish/net. Fish were given the experimental feed to apparent satiation twice a day for 14 days. Supplementation combination of pineapple at a dose of 6% and banana stem crude extract at a dose of 2% (treatment D) showed better results on catfish growth performance compared to other treatments. Supplementation combination of pineapple and banana stem crude extract showed a positive effect on feed consumption efficiency (160 g), feed utilization efficiency (100,4%) as indicated by the feed conversion ratio value (1.05) which was lower than other treatments. Supplementation of pineapple stem crude extract can be a new breakthrough innovation in the fish cultivation in peat ponds considering its significant role in reducing oxidative stress during fish cultivation

Abstract

Vitamin E memiliki fungsi untuk melindungi asam lemak tidak jenuh pada fosfolipid dalam membran sel dan sebagai penetralisir radikal bebas dalam tubuh ikan sehingga vitamin E dapat meningkatkan perkembangan gonad. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penambahan vitamin E pada pakan terhadap pertumbuhan berat spesifik ikan uji, perkembangan berat hati, Tingkat Kematangan Gonad (TKG), Gonado Somatic Index (GSI), dan sebaran diameter telur ikan uji. Manfaat penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan paket teknologi reproduksi induk betina ikan gabus dengan penambahan vitamin E pada pakan, dan sebagai bahan informasi pada reproduksi ikan gabus betina. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) 4 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan meliputi, perlakuan A (kontrol) tanpa penambahan vitamin E, perlakuan B (250 mg/kg pakan), perlakuan C (350 mg/kg pakan), perlakuan D (450 mg/kg pakan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan vitamin E sebanyak 250 mg/kg pakan dapat meningkatkan TKG rata-rata pada tahap IV (matang), dan sebaran diameter telur ikan gabus dengan ukuran >1,1 mm sebanyak 83 butir, didukung kualitas air selama penelitian.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah pemberian pakan maggot basah dan maggot kering berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan benih Ikan Gabus (Channa striata). Selain itu, juga untuk mengetahui perlakuan mana yang paling baik pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan benih Ikan Gabus (Channa striata). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah A (pakan maggot basah 100%), B (pakan maggot basah 50% dan maggot kering 50%), dan C (pakan maggot kering 100%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemeberian pakan maggot basah dan maggot kering berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan panjang dan berat benih Ikan Gabus (Channa striata), tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup benih Ikan Gabus (Channa striata). Dengan perlakuan terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan B dengan hasil pertumbuhan panjang sebesar 3,93 cm, pertumbuhan berat sebesar 4,03 g, tingkat kelangsungan hidup sebesar 93,33%, serta konversi pakan (FCR) sebesar 1,22.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian tepung biji pepaya (Carica papaya L,) dan Probiotik EM4 (Effective Microorganism-4) dalam Pakan Terhadap Pertumbuhan Benih Ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus). Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Penelitian dilaksanakan Selama 42 hari di Laboratorium Jurusan Perikanan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Palagka Raya (UPR), Kalimantan Tengah. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penambahan tepung biji pepaya dan Probiotik EM4 terhadap pertumbuhan benih ikan nila terdapat perbedaan yang nyata. Perlakuan D dengan kombinasi tepung biji pepaya sebanyak 5 g/kg pakan dan Probiotik EM4 sebanyak 20 ml/kg pakan merupakan perlakuan terbaik untuk pertumbuhan berat mutlak dan panjang mutlak benih ikan nila dibandingkan dengan perlakuan yang lainnya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian probiotik EM-4 (Effective microorganisme-4) pada pakan ikan terhadap pertumbuhan dan sintasan benih ikan Gabus (Channa striata). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama 42 hari di Laboratorium Basah, Program Studi Budidaya Perairan, Jurusan Perikanan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Palangka Raya. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan yaitu perlakuan A (Kontrol), perlakuan B (penambahan EM-4 sebanyak 10 ml), perlakuan C (penambahan EM-4 sebanyak 15 ml) dan perlakuan D (penambahan EM-4 sebanyak 20 ml) yang masing-masing terdiri dari 3 ulangan. Hasil yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menunjukan bahwa penambahan probiotik EM4 pada pakan terhadap pertumbuhan dan sintasan benih ikan Gabus (Channa striata) menghasilkan pertumbuhan panjang dan berat mutlak benih ikan Gabus (Channa striata) berbeda nyata sedangkan pada tingkat kelangsungan hidup sangat berbeda nyata. Pertumbuhan panjang dan berat mutlak benih ikan Gabus (Channa striata) yang terbaik pada perlakuan B sebesar 4,64 cm dan 4,69 g dan nilai terendah pada perlakuan C sebesar 3,77 cm dan 3,03 g. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan B sebesar 96,6% dan terendah terdapat pada perakuan A sebesar 80%. Pada parameter kualitas air, selain dari parameter suhu (25oC hingga 29oC), parameter kualitas air lainnya seperti pH (4,6 hingga 7,8), DO (3,4 hingga 5,7), dan amoniak (0,09 hingga 19,7) belum mendukung untuk pertumbuhan ikan secara optimal.

Abstract

Efforts to combat disease in farmed fish are typically done using antibiotics. However, long-term use of antibiotics can lead to disease resistance and environmental pollution. One herbal extract with potential as an immunostimulant is the soursop plant (Annona muricata L.). This study aims to understand the hematology of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) that were fed a diet mixed with soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.). The study design included four treatments and three repetitions, comprising treatment A (control), treatment B (2.5 g/kg feed), treatment C (5 g/kg feed), and treatment D (7.5 g/kg feed). The results showed that feeding a diet mixed with soursop leaf extract at a concentration of 7.5 g/kg feed (treatment D) could influence the increase in hematocrit levels by 26.11%, hemoglobin levels by 7.11 g/dl, and total leukocytes by 4.41 x 104 cells/mm3, but did not affect the total erythrocytes of tilapia.

Abstract

Central Kalimantan has a large area of peatland that contains a lot of peat water, which can be used as a source of clean water and drinking water. Meanwhile, the community still lacks clean water because peat waters are acidic to highly acidic, corrosive, and reddish-black, making them unsuitable for human use.  Therefore, efforts are needed to purify peat water to be suitable for human consumption.  This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of using calcium carbonate lime, alum, and activated carbon to purify peat water.  This research was divided into 2 stages, namely preliminary research by testing the combination of the three materials mentioned above with the dose of each material, 0.3 g/L, 0.6 g, and 0.9 g/L, so that 33 treatments were obtained, namely 27 treatments.  Test parameters in preliminary research are pH, water colour, and water appearance.  In the main research, the observed variables were pH, water colour, TDS, and the appearance of water.  In the main study, the best 6 treatments from the preliminary study were used, where the pH value was close to normal, ranging from 5.76 to 6.16, and the colour value ranged from 4 to 15 Pt-Co, and there was no foam. The best 3 main research results carried out complete testing of physical, chemical and microbiological water quality parameters for clean water, namely physical parameters (colour, odour, taste, turbidity, temperature, and TDS), chemistry (organic matter, pH, hardness, iron, manganese, sulphate, nitrite, chloride, nitrate, zinc, cyanide, fluoride, ammonia, aluminium and copper), and microbiology (total coliform and E. coli). Based on the results obtained, in the main study, the use of a combination of calcium carbonate lime, alum, and activated carbon at doses of 0.3 g/L, 0.3 g, and 0.6 g/L respectively was very effective in purifying peat water into water suitable for human consumption, so these doses are recommended for purifying peat water.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different combinations of tofu and fermented taro leaf midrib on the growth of Maggot Black Soldier Fly. The research method used is the experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consists of 4 levels of treatment, namely A (100% tofu); B (75% tofu+ 25% fermented taro leaf midrib); C (50% tofu + 50% fermented taro leaf midrib); D (25% tofu + 75% fermented taro leaf midrib). Parameters observed were BSF maggot length and weight growth, digested feed conversion efficiency (ECD), waste reduction index (WRI), BSF maggot productivity. Analysis of the data used was Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and to determine the best treatment using a follow-up test in the form of Duncan's test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that different combinations of tofu and fermented taro leaf midrib had a significant effect on the growth of Maggot BSF. The best combination of tofu and fermented taro leaf midrib on the growth of Maggot BSF was the use of 75% tofu + 25% fermented taro leaf midrib which has a significant effect when compared to other treatments
