Abstract

This research aims at investigating the pattern of Islamic learning process at Yogyakarta-based Islamic senior  high  school-3 from holistic learning perspective.  The research adopts qualitative approach. The research shows  that the pattern of the  Islamic learning  process at the Islamic senior  high  school implemented  in  the  unity of  Islamic  education  curriculum with three  main inseparable  components,  i.e.  intra-curricular,  extracurricular  and hidden-curricular,  has accommodated holistic  learning  principles. The accommodation can be evaluated from the implementation of basic holistic learning principles comprising of interconnectedness, wholeness and being.  In spite of this accommodation, the research has found some weaknesses in the Islamic learning processs. First, the  development  of  the five-level of  learners  potencies   as envisioned in  holistic learning, i.e.  personal, community, social, planetary and cosmic, has  not been formulated  explicitly  in  the  curriculum  and lesson  plan.  The  existing  formulation  only  respects to  the development  of  six  dimensions  of  learners  potencies,  i.e. physical, emotional, intellectual, social, aesthetic,  and spiritual. Second, the intra-curricular learning process is  still more oriented to teaching  for  the  test and less oriented to teaching  for the whole task. Third, the subject matter of Islamic learning curriculum,  i.e. al-Qur’an-Hadis,  Akidah-Akhlak, and Fikih have not been integrated as a single unit.  The three subject  matters still  stand on their own  theme, and have not been integrated as a single unit.  The research  has successfully mapped out  the  characterizing  pattern  of  quality development  of Islamic  learning process  seen from  the perspective of holistic learning at the madrasah.[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan pola pembelajaran agama Islam di MAN 3 Sleman Yogyakarta ditinjau dari perspektif pembelajaran holistik. Abstract

Islamic education in the modern era faces several critical challenges, including the secularization of knowledge, curriculum dichotomy, and the degradation of moral and spiritual values. These issues have undermined the philosophical foundations of Islamic education and weakened the integration between religious and secular sciences. This study aims to explore the thoughts of Syekh Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas on the revitalization of Islamic education by focusing on three key aspects: the foundational concept of Islamic education, the challenges it faces in the contemporary context, and the strategies for its revitalization. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, 636 articles were initially identified through Google Scholar and Crossref using the Publish or Perish software. After applying strict inclusion criteria and using the PRISMA protocol, 24 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2019 and 2025 were selected for thematic analysis. The findings are categorized into three major themes: (1) the concept of ta’dīb as a holistic educational framework that integrates intellect, ethics, and spirituality as the core of Islamic education; (2) contemporary challenges, including the fragmentation of knowledge, moral degradation, and the dominance of secular epistemologies; and (3) strategic responses such as the Islamization of knowledge, curriculum integration, and educational reform based on tawḥīd. The results affirm the relevance of Al-Attas’s educational philosophy as a comprehensive paradigm for shaping insān kāmil, a balanced human being, and for reforming Islamic education in a way that remains spiritually grounded while addressing modern demands.

Abstract

As educational institutions worldwide face increasing pressure to deliver quality education amid limited budgets, infrastructure management and energy efficiency have become critical concerns. This study explores how the integration of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems can serve as a strategic tool to improve education financing efficiency, using Muhammadiyah 1 Junior High School (SMP) Berbah in Indonesia as a case study. Employing a qualitative case study method, this research analyzes planning, implementation, and management processes of solar PV systems in the school’s infrastructure. Findings indicate that although the solar power plant has not yet reached optimal savings, its integration supports operational cost reductions, aligns with environmental goals, and enhances long-term financial planning. The study underscores the importance of infrastructure-based energy strategies and recommends wider adoption of solar PV in educational settings, complemented by audits, stakeholder partnerships, and curriculum integration on sustainability. Despite its local focus, the study highlights scalable practices for schools globally, while acknowledging limitations in generalizability and long-term performance tracking. Future research should examine broader contexts and policy variables to strengthen the evidence base for renewable energy in education.

Abstract

The phenomenon of academic burnout in the digital era is increasingly concerning as students face academic pressures exacerbated by intensive digital technology demands, yet no studies in Indonesia have integrated student experiences with potential AI-based solutions for early detection. This study aims to explore student experiences with academic burnout, identify digital indicators perceived as burnout markers, and analyze student perceptions of the feasibility and acceptance of AI utilization for early burnout detection. Using a qualitative approach with case study methods, data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) with 16 purposively selected Master's students in Islamic Education Management at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Data analysis employed Braun & Clarke's thematic analysis using Job Demands-Resources and Technostress Model frameworks. Results indicate that student academic burnout is associated with unregulated digital activity patterns operating through four mediation mechanisms: sleep disruption, cognitive overload, social comparison, and boundary erosion. Students identify five main digital indicators: excessive screen time, notification overload, activity polarization, digital sleep disturbance, and social isolation. Regarding AI, students exhibit ambivalence: optimistic about AI's potential as an objective "digital mirror," yet demanding fulfillment of five ethical principles (algorithm transparency, informed consent, non-surveillance, privacy by design, empowerment-centered) as prerequisites for acceptance.
