Abstract

Abstract: The creative industry is the process of creating ideas, creativity and ideas that produce works or products. The creative hub or creative center is a place for creative industry activists to gather and develop their talents and creativity. Even though in Indonesia there are many buildings that function as creative centers, the question is to what extent these buildings are able to stimulate the creativity of creative industry players. One of the proposed solutions is to apply contemporary architectural design. This architecture is considered to be a way to stimulate the creativity of its users because it is not bound by time and always evolves with the times, in line with the spirit of creativity that is always advancing. Bandung Creative Hub was chosen as the focus of the research because it was considered successful in implementing contemporary architectural principles well. This research aims to understand the design form of a creative center that adopts contemporary architecture. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, by collecting data from various journals to describe this phenomenon. The research stages include data collection , analysis and drawing conclusions to provide a clearer picture of the influence of building design on the creativity of its users.Keyword: Bandung, Contemporary Architecture, Creative Center, Creative Industry.

Abstract

Culinary tourism centers are not only places to enjoy food but also function as public spaces that provide social and spatial experiences for visitors. The quality of the built environment and architectural elements contribute to the level of comfort, perception, and user preferences for a place. Research examining the relationship between architectural elements, sensory comfort, and visitor experience in public culinary spaces, particularly in tropical areas and government-managed facilities, is still limited. This study aims to evaluate the influence of architectural elements on sensory comfort and visitor experience at the Wiyung Culinary Tourism Center, Surabaya. The study used a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory strategy. The quantitative stage was carried out by distributing Likert-scale questionnaires (1–4) to 120 respondents, then analyzed using Pearson's validity test and Cronbach's Alpha reliability test. The qualitative stage was carried out through field observations, interviews, and visual documentation to deepen the results of the quantitative analysis. The results showed that the facade and decorative elements play a role in shaping visual appeal and visitors' initial impressions. The quality of ventilation and lighting are the main factors influencing thermal comfort and visit duration. The qualitative analysis also revealed that spatial arrangement contributes to ease of orientation and social activities in the Culinary Tourism Center area.

Abstract

Residential houses such as flats located near industrial areas are vulnerable to the threat of high-intensity dust, thereby, exposing the occupants to Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) in the form of health problems, especially in the upper respiratory system. Therefore, this research was conducted to find appropriate design solutions to minimize dust from entering buildings through the application of geometric planes as a form of defense. It is also important to note that dust is closely related to the direction of the wind which is its conveying medium. This led to the determination of the right geometric shape to be applied as a dust barrier in the building facade. Moreover, this research was based on the force-based framework which proposes a form-refine-assembly stage consisting of several methods to determine the shape through simulation and evaluation associated with existing theories. The results were able to determine the position and shape of the facade area to serve as the barrier to the arrival of dust. The design is expected to be integrated into the shape and landscape layout of buildings to reduce dust in the site area.
