Abstract

Learning mathematics that emphasizes understanding concepts and solving problems requires learning media. The use of learning media is still low, so learning outcomes are far from the minimum completeness criteria (the student's lowest score), apart from learning media. Besides the media, learning models are essential to discover fun and not dull mathematics. This study aimed to improve learning achievement in data-building material through tangram media with the PjBL model for class IV at SD Negeri Gerih 7, East Java, Indonesia. The research method used was Collaborative Classroom Action Research. The subjects of this study were 23 students in grade IV at SD Negeri Gerih 7, East Java, Indonesia, in the 2022/2023 academic year. The test results obtained were in the form of pre-cycle class average values of 59.13, 64.78 in the results of the first cycle, and 77.82 in the results of the second cycle. It can be concluded that the PjBL learning model and the tangram media effectively improve the achievement results of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Gerih 7, East Java, Indonesia.

Abstract

The lack of understanding and skills in solving mathematical problems is now a significant concern in many countries. Other factors, such as learning interests, influence students' understanding of these concepts. Therefore, it is necessary to explore students' understanding of arithmetic (profit and loss) based on Bruner's theory regarding learning interest. The study was conducted at a Vocational School in East Java, Indonesia, with 26 students participating as research subjects. The research methodology used was qualitative, with data collected through questionnaires on learning interests, profit and loss concept tests, and interviews. Data were analyzed using a process of reduction, presentation, and conclusions. The findings revealed that subjects with high and medium learning interest categories can meet the stages of Bruner's theory (enactive, iconic, and symbolic). However, subjects with medium learning interests do not need help understanding what happens in the problem—the subject with low learning interest can only reach iconic and symbolic stages in Bruner's theory. Thus, teachers should design appropriate learning strategies and media for students with medium and low learning interests so that they have a good conceptual understanding.

Abstract

[English]: Students’ creative thinking could be influenced by gender and academic achievement. Many studies have been carried out regarding levels of students’ creative thinking in solving problems based on gender and academic achievement, respectively. This study aims to understand differences in the levels of creative thinking of male and female students with high, medium, and low academic achievement in solving open-ended questions. This qualitative study involved 18 seventh-grade junior high school students selected based on gender differences and academic achievement. These students answered two open-ended problems on geometry and thought aloud about what they were thinking while answering the questions. Task-based interviews were conducted to explore students' answers. Data analysis shows that the level of students’ creative thinking, considering gender and academic achievement, appears to be inconsistent for different open-ended questions. However, there is a tendency that for figural questions, the higher the level of academic achievement, the higher the level of creative thinking, and male students outperform female students. This study also found differences in the level of creative thinking between the students based on the dimensions of creative thinking and the kinds of problems. The finding implies that gender differences and academic achievement are not adequate to determine the level of students’ creative thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of metacognition in solving HOTS problems in the context of problem related to activities in the context of the flag ceremony yard in solving problems based on initial mathematics ability. This research approach was descriptive qualitative involving 3 students as research subjects who were selected based on high, medium, and low initial mathematics abilities. The data were validated by using method triangulation techniques, namely tests and interviews. The results showed that students with high initial mathematics ability showed good metacognition skills in solving HOTS problems in planning, monitoring, and evaluating activities. However, they still need to improve their ability to evaluate the repair strategy if there is an error. Students with medium initial mathematical ability showed good metacognition skills in several aspects but needed to improve some aspects. Students with moderate mathematics ability have a good basic understanding of metacognition in planning activities. However, they need to improve their metacognition skills in monitoring and evaluating when solving HOTS problems. Meanwhile, students with low initial mathematical ability show limitations in utilizing metacognition skills in planning, monitoring, and evaluating activities, as a result, students experience difficulties in solving problems. So, teachers need to design teaching materials that can improve students' mathematical abilities and metacognition.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of informal learning motivation in the workplace in enhancing teachers' digital competence in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. This informal learning motivation was designed using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research sample consisted of 30 teachers, including 5 vice principals. The analysis results show that before the implementation of informal learning motivation, around 40% of teachers lacked confidence in using digital technology, and 60% experienced difficulties in using online learning applications. Encouraging informal learning proved to significantly improve teachers’ digital competence, with the average test score increasing from 50% before the intervention to 80% afterward. In addition, 90% of participants felt more confident using digital learning applications, and 85% found this approach highly relevant to their needs. Despite the positive outcomes, challenges included limited time for mastering the material and the need for continued assistance. Therefore, it is recommended to provide ongoing informal support through intensive mentoring, along with periodic evaluations of technology implementation in learning. Teachers were motivated through the use of social media platforms such as YouTube, Pilot AI, and others. This study recommends that schools formulate internal policies that comprehensively support the integration of technology through informal learning approaches to enhance teachers' professionalism in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a competency-based andragogy training model to improve the digital technology competence of teachers at the Cianjur Regency Mover School. In the digital era, teachers' digital competence is very important, but initial observations show that many teachers still have difficulty in mastering learning technology. The competency-based training model with an andragogy approach is considered effective because it is tailored to the needs and experiences of adult participants. This study uses a qualitative approach with a systematic ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies. The results of the study showed that most teachers were aware of the importance of digital technology, but needed further support in mastering digital learning applications and media. The development of a competency-based training model is expected to accelerate digital transformation in education. This study provides theoretical and practical contributions to the development of competency-based and andragogy teacher training policies in the digital era.

Abstract

Completion of studies on time is the hope of every student, in addition to achieving very satisfying academic achievements. Despite these hopes, currently many doctoral program students at the Faculty of Education, Indonesian Education University are not graduating on time. For this reason, research needs to be carried out to find out the reasons and efforts to resolve it. The aim of the research is to find students' problems and hopes in completing their studies quickly. This research method uses Research and Development with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The research results show that firstly, empirically the completion of student studies is still relatively low, as evidenced by the number of students who have not graduated at 72%. Second, student affairs problems consist of relatively diverse academic and non-academic problems, including student expectations of lecturers and study program services. Third, based on students' problems and expectations, a learning facilitation service model is needed. The research conclusion is that it is necessary to develop a learning facilitation model design consisting of background, objectives, assumptions, principles, system components, procedures and indicators of success. This research produces a model design as a novelty that contributes to higher education leaders, academic supervisors, and administrative staff to provide services to students in completing studies quickly on time.
