Abstract

The purpose of this activity IbM program is to help facilitate the management of village database particular use of information technology by using Microsoft Access. Currently in the village administration is still largely in the form of written records form (manual). Through the utilization of training computer-based applications, is expected to help support the management of the village administration to become more convenient, efficient and effective. IbM activity is carried out by providing training to the village on how to use information technology for database management village. The technology used is the application of system administration using Microsoft Access, which begins with the introduction phase of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel as basic training, further d i re c t e d   t o   u s e   M i c ro s o f t   A c c e s s   p ro g r a m m i n g   l a n g u a g e   w i t h   a   s i m p l e   s t a g e . Based on the results of community service that has been implemented, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1) Community service activities by the team can be conducted properly and smoothly; 2) Training participants consisting of 6 people, 5 of them have the ability to grasp in the category of medium (83.33%) and one person has the ability to grasp in the category of low (16.67%); 3) Making village database using Ms.Access not been up and still in the early stages of introduction. This is due to the low capacity of participants understanding of the basic concepts of training materials and the allocation of limited time. Keywords: Information Technology, Database, Microsoft Access.

Abstract

Orientation: life skills education has become one of the governments policy in the field of education. Implementing life skills education in the learning process, schools need to prepare oriented curriculum to life skills education. Achievement of these life skills must be specifically designed not just as an accompaniment destination (by chance). One of the mathematics learning approaches that link real-life experiences of students with mathematics material is Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Research purpose: develop student worksheets with Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) based life skills that meet the criteria of validity on the solid material. Research design, approach and method: this type of research is development research. Development of Student Worksheet in this research refers to the 4-D models by Thiagarajan, et al which has been adjusted. The phase 4-D models are used only three stages are comprised of: define, design, and develop. This research was conducted in class VIII-C SMP Negeri 2 Kwadungan Ngawi. Main Findings: learning device test results obtained are categorized of Student Worksheet is valid, because it meets the requirements set out, namely: (1) the category of expert validation is valid, (2) the category of students readability test is valid, and (3) the category of students response is positive. Keywords: RME, Life Skills, Solid.

Abstract

Possessing and developing metacognitive abilities are an essential part of the learning process. This study is a class action research on the use of critical analysis to identify its influence on students’ metacognitive abilities and critical thinking skills as well as to discover the relationship between metacognitive abilities and critical thinking skills. The sample of this study is 76 students from 217 students taking cell biology and non-vascular plants subject during the fall semester. It is a descriptive quantitative study with critical analysis assignments. Critical analysis rubric is used to collect the data of students’ critical analysis and the essay test to measure students’ critical thinking and metacognitive ability. The data of metacognitive ability and critical thinking were analyzed using regression test. The result showed there was a positive influence of the use of critical analysis to the student metacognitive abilities and critical thinking skills. The results of a simple correlation analysis of metacognitive abilities and critical thinking skills show the means value (r) of 0.904, which means that there is a strong positive relationship between the two components. The higher the student’ metacognitive skills, the higher their critical thinking skill will be.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of explanations made by pre-service teachers in mathematics learning. In this research, the types of explanations are used to describe the explanatory trends used by pre-service teachers in mathematics teaching. The descriptive qualitative research was chosen in this research. The research subjects are pre-service teacher as the students of Mathematics Education of PGRI Madiun University and Madura University who are studying Field Experience Practice. Of the 105 mathematics student, five students with a cumulative grade achievement of more than 3.50 were observed during the teaching practice at the school for approximately five meetings. The research data was obtained from observation, video recording, and interview. Data analysis was done through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion/verification focused on pre-service teacher explanation on mathematics learning activity. The research findings indicate that the explanation used by the pre-service teacher in the mathematics learning starting from the most frequently used is the descriptive explanation (51,7%), giving of reason (36,2%) and interpretative (12,1%). Descriptive explanations are used to describe mathematical procedures. The type of reason-giving explanation is used to explain reasons based on mathematical principles. Furthermore, the interpretative explanation is used to explain the concepts and facts of mathematics.

Abstract

As part of 21st-century skills, communication is an essential skill for students. Students 'mathematical communication tends to below, one of which is influenced by students' self-confidence. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to describe the mathematical communication skills in solving circle problems based on students' self-confidence. Determining the subject using purposive sampling technique, namely from 36 students of class VIII SMP in Madiun, East Java, Indonesia, obtained two subjects with high self-confidence (SCT) and one subject with low self-confidence (SCR). A qualitative descriptive approach was used in this study. Tests and interviews were used as data collection techniques. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and concluding. The results of this study include: SCT is capable while SCR is less able to meet the indicators of mathematical communication skills both in writing and orally at the stages of understanding problems, implementing plans, and checking back; and SCT can meet mathematical communication indicators both written and oral, while SCR is less able to meet written mathematical communication indicators but can verbally at the stage of planning completion. The level of self-confidence of students differentiates their mathematical communication skills in solving problems. Thus, a teacher needs to design an appropriate question to train students' mathematical communication skills with low self-confidence.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an e-learning tool based on video presentations to enhances attitudes, skills and pedagogical knowledges of prospective teacher students during the Covid-19 pandemic. This type of research is Research and Design (R & D) using the Plomp development model, which consists of 3 stages: a preliminary study, design, and assessment. Data collection was carried out through observation, device validation, distribution of response questionnaires, and assessment of student learning outcomes. The results of the data analysis show that at the preliminary study stage, it was found that there were still no devices that supported learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. At the stage of design was designed, including RPS, LMS Settings, and Video Presentations. At the assessment stage, it was found that all the tools developed had valid criteria, students gave a positive response to the small and broad trials respectively of 97.68%; 98.32% so that the tools developed were included in practical criteria. The assessment of learning outcomes in the aspects of attitudes, skills, and knowledge had average completeness on the small and broad trials respectively of 82.92%; 86.99% so that the equipment used was included in the effective criteria. Thus the device developed can be said to be feasible because it meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The development of e-learning based on video presentations can be used to enhance attitudes, skills, and pedagogical knowledge of prospective mathematics teacher students.
