Abstract

The aims of this study is to find out the Internalization of Multicultural Islamic Education Values to Students in Junior High Schools (SMP) In Hinai Langkat District. This study uses qualitative research. The result of this study shows that the programs for junior high schools (SMP) throughout Hinai District in internalizing the values of multicultural Islamic education for students are the application of multicultural Islamic education values in the learning process, multicultural-based extracurricular activities at school, a multicultural school environment, and school rules and regulations that accommodate the values of differences in diversity. Furthermore, this program will be applied to school activities in implementing multicultural Islamic education for students. As for the implementation of the activities of junior high schools (SMP) throughout the Hinai sub-district in internalizing the values of multicultural Islamic education for students including teacher activities in teaching, school habituation activities, teacher exemplary behavior, school activities with historical, gender and cultural approaches and activities such as reading the Qur'an and praying before studying, praying, infaq, Ramadan activities and celebrating Islamic holidays. These activities instill the values of multicultural Islamic education so that students will become tolerant, appreciative, compassionate, and plural among fellow school members. Obstacles in applying the values of multicultural Islamic education include students' personalities and different cultures, the lack of depth in religious learning and the heterogeneous ethnic backgrounds of students. While the supporting factors in internalizing the values of multicultural Islamic education in schools include the existence of religious facilities such as prayer rooms and spaces for non-Muslim worship, the enforcement of school culture that applies discipline in school rules, and school activities that apply Islamic educational values multicultural in students.

Abstract

Kombucha is a fermented tea drink using a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. This drink has been widely used to maintain blood sugar levels. Meanwhile, leaf boiled water of Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp. has been used as an alternative medicine for diabetes mellitus in Indonesia. If this herb is made into kombucha, it may have higher antihyperglycemic activity than kombucha from tea leaves. However, there are no scientific reports of antihyperglycemic activity from S. polyanthum leaf kombucha by inhibiting alpha-glucosidase. This study aims to determine the activity and kinetics inhibition of S. polyanthum leaves kombucha against α-glucosidase. Samples were prepared at varying concentrations (12.5, 25, 37.5, 50 g/L), while phytochemical components in the products were identified, and the inhibitory activity as well as kinetics were comprehensively analyzed. In silico evaluations were conducted to further explore the inhibitory activity. The results showed that the products contained secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase ranged from 81.05 to 89.41%. The inhibition mechanism was identified as uncompetitive, with a Michaelis-Menten constant (KM) of 0.1357 mM and a vmax value of 27.7008 U/ml minute. Several metabolites showed promising inhibition potential due to their strong binding interactions with α-glucosidase, including hydrogen bonding (H-bond), hydrophobic interactions, van der Waals forces, and electrostatic forces. Additionally, two metabolites, farnesol and α-pinene, were found to interact with other human proteins. These observations showed the potential of S. polyanthum leaves kombucha as a health-promoting beverage that might aid blood sugar control in diabetic individuals.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of speech acts in digital news discourse through an analytical examination of selected posts from the Arabic-language Instagram page of Al-Jazeera. Drawing on the theoretical framework of speech act theory as developed by Austin (1962) and Searle (1969), the research aims to identify the types and pragmatic functions of speech acts employed in visual-verbal posts related to political and social events. Using a descriptive-analytical method and qualitative content analysis, this study reveals that Al-Jazeera's Instagram posts do not merely perform an informative function; rather, they utilize a variety of speech act types—including assertives, directives, expressives, commissives, and declaratives—to construct meaning, influence perception, and guide public sentiment. The analysis highlights the strategic deployment of language in digital Arabic media to serve communicative intentions beyond mere news reporting. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how language operates as a pragmatic tool in shaping digital public discourse within Arabic media contexts.

Abstract

Abstract

Sepia officinalis, commonly known as cuttlefish, is one of the diverse marine organisms consumed for its high protein content. Amino acids, as the building blocks of proteins, can function as antioxidant compounds. The high amino acid content in cuttlefish makes it a potential natural source of antioxidants. However, the use of cuttlefish in medicine, particularly as an antioxidant source, remains limited in Indonesia. At present, cuttlefish is mainly utilized as a dietary protein source. The objective of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of muscle and endoskeleton extracts from S. officinalis using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) assay in vitro. In addition, an in silico approach was employed to analyze the interaction of these extracts with myeloperoxidase, an oxidant-producing enzyme. The results demonstrated that both muscle and endoskeleton extracts were able to scavenge free radicals, showing DPPH inhibition ranging from 46.19% to 48.42%. The highest inhibition was observed at a concentration of 200 ppm for both extracts. Furthermore, in silico analysis revealed that tyrosine and phenylalanine were the key amino acids with antioxidant potential, as they inhibited myeloperoxidase activity and could reduce oxidant production by the enzyme. These findings highlight the potential of S. officinalis as a natural antioxidant source and support its future development as a functional food ingredient.
