Abstract

Talepud Gianyar Traditional Village has a unique reality, namely adhering to two customary village government systems consisting of government with the spirit of Ancient Bali and Bali Dataran. Evidently, the Talepud Traditional Village was led by Jro Kubayan and Jro Bandesa. Even though the history of governance is different, the two of them still manage the traditional village according to their respective policies, so that there is quite a striking dualism of government in the Talepud Traditional Village. This study analyzes interpersonal communication as a space for peace that brings together the Jro Kubayan administration and Jero Bendesa Adat in carrying out customary government duties in Talebud Adat Village, Sebatu, Gianyar. The analysis is based on three problem formulations, namely why are there two government systems in the Talepud Traditional Village? how is the implementation of interpersonal communication between Jro Kubayan and Jro Bendesa in carrying out traditional tasks in the Talepud Traditional Village? and what is the impact of interpersonal communication between Jro Kubayan and Jro Bendesa on the implementation of traditional activities in the Talepud Traditional Village. The formulation of the problem is analyzed by functional and structural theory, interpersonal communication theory and S.O.R. communication theory. The results of this study indicate that the background of the dualism of traditional leadership in Talebut Traditional Village is based on the historical aspect, namely the acculturation of the hulu apad system (ancient Bali) and apanaga (Balinese Plains). Jro Kubayan and Jero Bandesa Adat are also seen as having a differentiation of duties and functions which together are very important to the community, namely, Jro Kubayan specifically becomes the leader for aspects of Hindu religious rituals, while Jro Bandesa focuses on the realization of executive duties in accordance with the applicable customary village regulations. The implementation of interpersonal communication between Jro Kubayan and Jro Bendesa fulfills the basic requirements of interpersonal communication consisting of communicators and communicants that involve both, messages are mostly non-verbal, feedback is seen unilaterally, namely only happening to Jro Kubayan through the act of refusing the treatment of traditional village officials , the media that is applied consists of formal media such as Pasangkepan and informal media such as small talk although it is not optimal, there are even obstacles such as physical, semantic, psychological, physical and human barriers. The impact of interpersonal communication consists of internal impacts as indicated by changes in people's attitudes and the quality of customary activities in the Talepud Traditional Village, as well as external impacts in the form of changes in communication with wawidayangan or pasemetonan traditional villages and changes in the image of Talepud Traditional Village in the eyes of other traditional villages. Abstract

Hinduism demonstrated remarkable dynamism and flexibility, adapting to socio-cultural changes while preserving its core essence. This adaptability manifested in diverse ritual practices, including unique variations of the ngaben (cremation) ceremony in Bali. This study focused on the distinctive ngaben tradition of the Tutuan community in Pujungan Customary Village, Tabanan, which deviated significantly from common Balinese practices. Its uniqueness lay in three key aspects: employing lalang grass as the pengawak (effigy), selecting the officiating priest (pemuput) exclusively from the Brahmana caste (Ida Pedanda), and utilizing specific locations and burial procedures. The research investigated the form, function, and theological meaning of this tradition. It aimed to analyze the relevance of its spiritual, social, and ecological values to contemporary Hinduism and evaluate its resilience to modernization and socio-economic pressures. A descriptive qualitative methodology was employed, integrating ethnographic and Hindu theological approaches. Data were gathered through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, interpreted using deconstruction theory. Results reveal that the Tutuan ngaben transcends mere ancestor veneration. It embodies the principles of tri hita karana (harmony with God, humans, and nature) and tat twam asi (universal self). Lalang grass symbolizes simplicity and ecological connection, while involving Ida Pedanda reflects deep spiritual commitment. Conducting rites at cangkem setra (cemetery edge) with burial demonstrates a contextually faithful interpretation of dharma. The study concludes that this practice represents authentic, contextual, and ecological Hindu spirituality. Preserving it is crucial as intangible Balinese heritage, offering valuable insights for religious, cultural, and spiritual education rooted in local wisdom

Abstract

Conflict between religious communities is a sensitive matter that often occurs. This is due to truth claims about various practices that tend to be different from the teachings of the religion adhered to. Indonesia as a country that embraces pluralism does not escape the turmoil of religious conflicts that characterize the life of the nation, so that it has an impact on the loss of tolerance between people and tends to bring up radical principles and coercion of one belief. To produce valid and reliable data, this paper uses a qualitative writing style. In producing logical data, this paper performs several stages of data sorting in the form of: 1). Data reduction, 2). Display data, 3). Verifying data, and 4). Interpret research data. In its presentation, measurable analysis becomes the foundation in processing the data obtained. The perfection of this paper cannot be separated from the library technique carried out by exploring the existing literature in Google Scholar. Truth claims that are too radical tend to foster a sense of intolerance in a nation, this situation will be used by terrorist elements to build a division of the state through religious cloaks. This situation became the center of attention of the Indonesian government so that a program called "the house of religious moderation" was conceptualized to rebuild the dignity of tolerance between religious communities. The legalization of houses of religious moderation begins through educational institutions which in fact are neutral institutions in a country. It is hoped that intellectuals born in educational institutions will be able to provide a concrete understanding of the importance of maintaining tolerance through the values of Pancasila and religious values that are relevant to the situation and stability of the country.

Abstract

The application of religious values can support the creation of harmony in social interactions insociety. Religious diversity can be a beautiful pluralistic description, but it can also hurt the socialinteraction of religious people if each religious group tends to prioritize its egocentricity. Thisstudy aims to analyze religious orientation and social interaction in minority religious communitiesto maintain religious identity. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literaturestudy approach. The results of the study found that religious orientation in minority religiouscommunities in Indonesia tends to be close to religiosity. There is a dialectical tension betweenhumans (as individuals) who intersect with the overall life in society and the construction of belief(faith). For minority groups, religion is always used as a guide or way of life. The noble values ofreligion with high tolerance become a benchmark in the process of interaction with a pluralisticsociety. Efforts to maintain religious identity in minority religious groups are carried out throughcultural and religious syncretism which is the social environment and reference group.
