Abstract

Abstract

In 2019 non-communicable diseases (NCDs) were the cause of 62,6% of deaths in low-middle-income countries. These groups of diseases are the manifestation of the unhealthy lifestyle of an individual. Nutritional status, activity level, environmental sanitation, smoking, and alcohol drinking habits are the risk factors for NCDs, which have been adopted since adolescence. College students, the group of people who are between late adolescence and young adults period, are at high risk of being neglected as a target in health programs. Therefore, community service was held by Puskesmas Kampung Baru (PKM KB), collaborating with Poltekkes Kemenkes Palu Prodi D-III Keperawatan Luwuk. The aims of this community service are to provide health services for college students and to analyze their risk of having NCDs in later life through a series of anthropometric measurements. There were 96 college students as participants. The average height is 154,4 cm, weight is 53,6 kg, and waist circumference is 75,4 cm. Further analyses show that 40% of the participants were at high and very high risk of developing NCDs. With this result, support from stakeholders such as local health authorities and College institution is needed to ensure that college students are included as targets in health programs, especially in NCDs prevention programs.

Abstract

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are diseases that are not transmitted to other people through any form of contact. Examples of NCDs include stroke, coronary heart disease, cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and conditions resulting from accidents and violence. In Banggai Regency, the number of people with NCDs continues to increase, with 5.2% having hypertension and 8.5% having diabetes mellitus in 2021. NCDs can be detected through early detection by measuring blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar, and body mass index (BMI). The aim of this activity is to screen for NCDs and cervical cancer. The participants of this activity are 22 women from the Ministry of Religious Affairs Women's Association in Banggai Regency. The activity was conducted in October 2022 at the campus of the D3 Nursing Study Program in Luwuk. The examination method used rapid tests to measure cholesterol and blood sugar levels, while blood pressure was measured using a digital sphygmomanometer, and anthropometric measurements were taken to obtain BMI data. IVA tests were also conducted to detect cervical cancer. The results of the examination showed that 63.6% of the participants were at risk of pre-hypertension, 12.7% were at risk of hypercholesterolemia, and 31.8% were at risk of diabetes mellitus. The BMI measurements showed that 59.1% were in the obesity category, and 72.7% had an obese waist circumference. The IVA tests did not detect any risk of cervical cancer. NCD screening through routine health check-ups should be done periodically to detect NCD risks as early as possible.

Abstract

Prioritizing patient privacy is a characteristic of Hospital services. However, sometimes, it is violated intentionally or unintentionally. The violation act is such as taking the image of a patient in a certain unethical condition without the patient's consent. This study is a law normative study with a statuta approach, held in August 2023. It aims to analyze the laws and regulations related to the Government's responsibility to provide safety and patient privacy in hospital services. The spreading of unethical patients' self-images shows that the implementation of related laws and regulations needs to be improved. The recording/photographing of patients is the Hospital's responsibility by the Act/Law No. 17 of 2023, which points out the patient's/family's/Hospital's consent and the Health Ministerial Regulation no.24, 2016 on technical requirements for hospital buildings and infrastructure that divide privacy zones of patient service. Meanwhile, distributing/spreading unethical images of the patients through media is the responsibility of a person/party in accordance with act/law no. 19 of 2016 on the amendment to act/law no. 8 of 2008 on information and electronic transactions. If these laws and regulations were implemented optimally by all parties, the chance of recording/photographing patient in unethical conditions without their consent or violating their privacy, could be prevented. Implementations of related laws and regulations should be conducted of all parties. Regarding this matter, Hospitals’ responsibilities are providing information, education, forbidden signs, and security guarantees to the patient and their family.

Abstract

Introduction: The Banggai region and the Banggai islands are in an area prone to earthquakes and tsunamis. The Bangai and Banggai Islands areas experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 on the SR which shocked the residents of Luwuk and caused a lot of damage. The aim of this service activity is to increase community preparedness, in this case students, in facing disasters. The methods used in this community service are lectures, questions and answers, and discussions. The tools and media used in this PKM are questionnaires, laptops, LCDs, screens and disaster management leaflets. The questionnaire contains questions related to health education material about disaster management which will be given to pre- and post-education respondents. Results: There were 94 participants in the activity, consisting of 6 teachers and 88 students. There was an increase in the proportion of participants with good knowledge of disaster management from 62.5% to 90%. The question item that shows the greatest improvement in knowledge is about important numbers that need to be known regarding disasters and signs of a tsunami. The suggestion from this activity is the need to improve education on disaster preparedness management for students at SMAN 2 Luwuk by increasing outreach and training activities related to disasters so that students are prepared to face disasters.

Abstract

This study purpose is to seek the determinant factors of anemia in non-pregnant women in Banggai Regency. With a cross-sectional design, we collect data from 308 non-pregnant women through non-probability sampling. Variables collected were age, Body Mass Index (BMI), Middle Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC), abdominal circumference, education, ownership of a healthy latrine, water source for cooking, and daily consumption of iron-source food such as legumes, green vegetables, also fish or meat. Bivariate and logistic regression was used to identify variables that correlate with anemia. The mean age and hemoglobin levels were 30±6.2 years and 12.7±1.5 g/dL, respectively. About 80 (25.97%) of the subjects were anemic. Bivariate analysis shows that water from standardized sources/facilities for cooking, ownership of a healthy latrine, MUAC, daily consumption of legumes, and daily consumption of fish or meat were variables that significantly correlated with anemia (p<0.05). Moreover, after we performed logistic regression, non-pregnant women who did not use standardized clean water for cooking (OR 2.19; p=0.09) and did not consume fish or meat daily (OR 2.28; p=0.02) were at higher risk of having anemia. Determinant factors that significantly correlate with anemia in Banggai Regency's non-pregnant women were water utilization from not-standardized sources/facilities for cooking and not consuming of fish or meat daily. Local governments should include these variables in their new reformulated and innovative stunting-reducing programs. Thus, perhaps they can achieve their expected targets, such as non-anemic pregnant women, which, in the long run, can reduce stunting.
