Abstract

Halal certification is one of the important elements in ensuring product quality and safety, especially for Muslim consumers. This study aims to optimize halal certification assistance for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products in the Pulau Merah Beach area, Banyuwangi. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Informants in this study consisted of MSME actors in Pulau Merah with interactive model analysis. The results of the study indicate that optimal assistance is needed to increase MSME participation in the halal certification process. An effective assistance program includes ongoing education about the importance of halal certification, providing easier access to information and procedures, and collaboration with the government and related institutions in facilitating certification costs. With the right assistance, MSME products in Pulau Merah Beach can compete in a wider market, including the international market.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between economic growth and tourist arrivals and to examine their interconnection from an Islamic perspective. Time-series data indicate that the development of the tourism sector in Banyuwangi Regency contributes to the dynamics of regional economic growth. Prior to the pandemic, both economic growth and tourist arrivals showed positive trends, whereas during the pandemic, both experienced a sharp decline and subsequently increased again during the recovery period. These findings align with the tourism-led growth theory, which posits that tourism serves as one of the main drivers of economic activity through income generation and job creation. From an Islamic perspective, economic activities and tourism development must be oriented toward maslahah, justice, and sustainability, and carried out in a halal, ethical manner that avoids harm. The results of this study demonstrate that strengthening the tourism sector can serve as a development instrument compatible with the principles of maq??id al-syar?’ah, implying that economic growth should be assessed not only in material terms but also in terms of broader social welfare and public benefit. Thus, the integration of economic growth, increased tourist arrivals, and Islamic values provides a conceptual foundation for sustainable and equitable tourism development

Abstract

Halal tourism has become a key sector in the development of the global tourism industry, as the increasing number of Muslim tourists demand assurance of halal-certified products and services. Halal product certification plays a strategic role in providing certainty, safety, and comfort for Muslim tourists, while also strengthening the competitiveness of tourist destinations internationally. This study aims to examine the urgency of halal certification for products in tourist destinations and its implications for the realization of global halal tourism. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach using secondary data that describes the conditions of tourism visits and halal products in Banyuwangi Regency. The findings indicate that halal certification is not only an instrument of legal certainty and consumer trust but also a global branding strategy that can increase added value, expand market reach, and strengthen Indonesia's position in the global halal tourism arena. Therefore, accelerating halal product certification in tourist destinations, especially in Banyuwangi Regency, is an important step in realizing sustainable halal tourism.
