Abstract

Abstract  Diabetes Mellitus is a worldwide metabolic disease and becomes a challenge for the health practitioner. Unfortunately, less than half of these diabetic individuals are aware of their conditions, and less than 1% of those receiving medical treatment achieve their therapeutic targets. Acupressure is an alternative method that is believed to be an effective way of treating diabetic patients with reducing symptoms and complications. This research aims to discover the effect of period acupressure therapy on blood sugar levels in type two diabetes mellitus patients in Lumajang Acupressure Clinic. It uses an observational analytic design with pre-test and post-test approach. It involved 36 participants who were split into two groups and contained 18 participants for each group. The first group received acupressure therapy for three weeks, while the second group received eight weeks. Both groups underwent acupressure at the San Yin Jiao (SP-6) acupoint for 20 minutes three times a week. All participants in both groups had their blood glucose checked before and after acupressure therapy. The results showed that the two groups were significantly different for the paired t-test and the independent t-test. The acupressure therapy period has an effect on decreasing blood sugar levels in type two diabetes mellitus patients at Lumajang acupressure clinic. Keywords             : Acupressure, the period of therapy, blood glucose level, type two diabetes mellitusCorrespondence   : Anungputri113@gmail.com

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Health problems that are often encountered due to work are respiratory disorders that cause premature death every year. Exposure to pollution is harmful to health, and chronic exposure causes lung cancer and COPD. The use of masks is an alternative in reducing exposure to pollution. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the habit of wearing masks on the incidence of respiratory symptoms disorder of online motorcycle taxi drivers in Malang. This study was an analytic observation with a cross-sectional design. Samples were determined using the comparative bivariate analytical sample formula. The data were analyzed using a univariate test and bivariate analysis with a chi-square test. This study showed a significant relationship between the habit of wearing a mask with p score = 0.015 (p<0,05), changing time with p score = 0.004 (p<0,05), and the type of mask on respiratory symptoms disorders with p score = 0.006 (p<0,05). The results obtained regarding the description of the habit of using masks, the results of the method of using masks were mainly in the good category. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between the habit of wearing masks and the incidence of respiratory symptoms disorders among online motorcycle taxi drivers in Malang. Keywords             : Habits, masks, symptoms of respiratory disorders, online motorcycle taxisCorrespondence   : Jeremisetiawan@webmail.umm.ac.id

Abstract

Abstract  Stunting is one of Indonesia's problems, as portrayed in RISKESDAS 2018. This means the growth of Indonesian children was not optimal. Some factors that might affect body height growth were genetic factors, represented by mid-parental height, nutritional factors, especially calcium, and physical activity, which could activate pathways to stimulate growth. These factors were known to have a huge role in body height growth, especially if these factors were optimized in adolescence, as in high school students. This research aimed to explain the relationship between body height growth and the factors that might affect it: mid-parental height, calcium intake, and the intensity of physical activity. This research was observational analytic, using purposive sampling as the sampling method and collecting data using a cross-sectional questionnaire. Statistical analysis between variables shows that mid-parental height was positively related (p<0.05, r: 0,356), while calcium supplementation was not associated (p<0.05, r: -0.165), and intensity of physical activity was not related (p=0.059, r: 0.089) with the body height growth of the students. In conclusion, among the factors that were analyzed, mid-parental height was the only one that had a relationship with body height growth.
