Abstract

Effectiveness of Differences in the Planting Media Composition and Corm Size in Bali Local Banana (Musa paradisiaca var. Milk) Propagation Banana (Musa paradisiaca) is one of the important commodities in Indonesia. Based on BPS Prov data. Bali (2017), the number of productive banana plants in Bali has decreased enormously, from 13,140,965 clumps in 2016 to only 4,681,879 clumps alone in 2017. The need for banana supply is so high when balinese people celebrate Galungan and Kuningan Ceremony. Banana needs that occur cannot be met because the production in Bali is low, not filled with production because of difficulty in obtaining seedlings, for that it is necessary to do research on the composition of planting media and the right size of banana chopped corm to provide good banana seeds. The growth and development of good banana plant seeds cannot be separated from the use of good planting media and the use of quality seeds. This study aimed to find out the interaction of planting media composition and the size of chopped corm in local Balinese susu bananas. This research was conducted at the experimental garden paranet house of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, Jl. Pulau Moyo No. 15 X, Pedungan, South Denpasar, Denpasar City, Bali from April to July 2020. The design used in this study is RandomIzed Block Design (RBD) Factorial pattern with 2 treatment factors, the first factor was the composition of planting media consists of 4 levels of treatment namely M1 (mixed media of soil and compost (1:1/V:V) 100% + burn husk 0%), M2 (mixed media of soil and compost (1:1/V:V) 75% + burn husk 25 %), M3 (mixed soil and compost media (1:1/V:V) 50% + 50% burn husks), M4 (mixed soil and compost media (1:1/V:V) 25% + burn husks 75%), M5 (mixed soil and compost media (1:1/V:V) 0% + 100% burn husks). The second factor was the size of the weevil hemisphere, consisting of 3 levels of treatment, namely B1 (size of corm hemisphere 4 x 4 x 4 cm), B2 (6 x 6 x 6 cm) and B3 (8 x 8 x 8 cm). The results showed that M3 media (mixed soil and compost media (1:1/V:V) 50% + 50% burn husks) was the composition of the planting media was best, the M3 treatment produces leaf chlorophyll, plant height, number of leaves, diameter of stems, time of root appear and the time the bud appears. B3 (8 x 8 x 8 cm) was the best size of banana weevil, B3 treatment produces leaf chlorine, plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, root time and the best leaf appear time. There was an interaction between the combination of planting media (M) and the size factor of weevil (B) to the growth of susu banana seedlings, which is indicated by the time the bud appears, the time the root appears, the diameter of the stem, the height of the plant and the number of leaves. The best value was obtained on the M3B3 combination.

Abstract

Study of Differences in Entres Saving Media on the Success of Grafting Wani Ngumpen Bali (Mangifera caesia Jack.Var. Ngumpen Bali) Wani (Mangifera caesia Jack.) is a local fruit plant that has a fairly high diversity of 22 cultivars in all wani production centers in Bali. One of the cultivars, namely Wani Ngumpen Bali, has the advantage of producing fruit that does not contain seeds as much as 90% of the total fruit. Due to constraints in generative seed production, wani are propagated vegetatively by means of grafting. Due to the limited time and the number of grafted seedlings, efforts are needed to maintain the freshness of the shoots through storage. The purpose of this study was to determine the best entres storage media for female grafting. This experiment used a Randomized Block Design (RAK), with five treatments, namely no media, sawdust, wet newspaper, wet cloth, and banana fronds. Each treatment was repeated five times and each unit consisted of three plants so that there were 75 experimental units. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The treatment of various storage media gave different responses to the success rate of grafting of Wani Ngumpen Bali plants. The best media for storing buds was wet newsprint with a success rate of 26.6% of live seedlings, supported by the number of leaves as many as 15 parameters.

Abstract

The Attempt to Improve the Quality of Balinese Grapevine Fruits (Vitis vinifera L. Var Alphonso Lavallee) With GA Application from Bamboo Shoot Extract at The Blooming Phase Balinese table grape is one of the superior fruit in Bali. Balinese table grape less salable than imported grapes because of the lack of the sweetness, small fruit size and the presence of the seeds are the weaknesses of Balinese table grapes quality. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the bamboo shoots extract at the blooming phase to improve fruit quality. The experimental design used was a Randomized Block Design with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments are different concentration of bamboo shoot extract including without bamboo shoot extract (control), 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of bamboo shoot extract. The observed variables were fruitset length, number of fruit per fruitset, fruit weight per fruitset, weight per fruit, number of seeds per fruit, total soluble solids and organoleptic test. The result showed that 100% bamboo shoot extract concentration was able to improve the quality of Balinese grapevines with fruitset length of 20.93 cm increased by 157.3% compared to control, the number of seeds 1.36 decreased by 54% compared to control, and total soluble solids 8.79oBrix increased by 122.8% compared with controls.

The working system on landscape management and cultivation garden now is need to be increased to revise an old concept that regarded as less shade, smooth, view and building unification its far from comfortable impression, and to look for the answer as well comparison in the cultivation of environment hygiene application management and gardens system that has been applied since 2005 up to now. Research purposes are to know : 1) pattern of landscape management used and how far the system applied by landscape management side, 2) the effectiveness landscape management activity applied, and 3) factors are barriers in the accuracy to determine functions and main jobs of landscape management. Results of the research show that landscape are quite large in several parts, whereas generally landscape condition is precisely good from plantation aspect and physical garden available, so users feel comfortable, peaceful and shaded. Precisely good condition of landscape but not supported by its optimal of landscape management in cultivation plantation, cutting and watering. These are showed by (75,6%) respondents as well fertilization is rarely done 53,7%. Then (36%) of respondents said do not know and the function of carrying on process has not proper yet on the object landscape handled (34,1%). The manager has done the duty correctly. That is proved by 43,6% of respondents, but they have not done the management factors appropriately yet Keywords : hospital landscape management, plantation, and comfortable

Abstract

Effect of Dolomite Application on the Quality of Corn Seeds (Zea mays L.) on Acid Soil in Experimental Gardens, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University The decline in maize production in Bali is caused by various factors such as poor cultivation techniques, lack of agricultural land due to land conversion, limited fertile land due to acidic soil conditions and the availability of quality seeds that are still lacking. The application of dolomite on acid soil is expected to improve the quality of corn seeds. This study aims to determine the difference in the effect of dolomite application and without dolomite application on acid soil on corn seed quality (physical and physiological quality). This study used a paired experiment to compare the quality of corn seeds produced with dolomite application and without dolomite application. The results showed that the application of dolomite was able to significantly increase the average weight of 1000 seeds, germination, shelf life vigor, growth speed vigor of 2.55%, 1.23%, 6.27%, 3.43 % when compared with no dolomite application, while the simultaneous growth of vigor showed no significant difference between dolomite application and without dolomite application.
