Abstract

Sleep disorders disrupt normal sleep patterns, including timing, duration, and quality, often linked to elevated cortisol levels and high nerve metabolism requiring oxygen. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO), delivering pure oxygen in high-pressure settings (≥1.4 ATA), may alleviate hypoxia and reduce cortisol, offering potential treatment for sleep disorders. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with a randomized pre-post control group design. The population studied was male sleep disorder sufferers, aged 25-40 years at the psychiatric poly of Dr. Ramelan Surabaya Hospital, with a sample of 9 members of the Indonesian Navy who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. This research is related to development research in the field of health and maritime, with a focus on diving and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which is expected to be published in the International Journal indexed Shinta 2. This research has the potential to enrich the understanding of the effects of Oxygen Hyperbaric (OHB) therapy in overcoming sleep disorders, as well as contributing to the health and maritime sectors. The research concluded that OHB therapy in sleep disorder patients resulted in a slight reduction in mean cortisol levels (from 79.09 ng/ml to 76.38 ng/ml). Although the majority of patients (56%) experienced a decrease in cortisol levels after therapy, there was no statistically significant effect of OHB therapy on cortisol levels in sleep disorder patients.

Abstract

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is the therapy of inhaling 100% pure oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber of more than 1 absolute atmosphere. Currently, the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy is increasingly widespread, not only for decompression sickness and diving problems. But it has been used for clinical therapy, cosmetics, and geriatric care. The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also confirmed various clinical indications, especially those related to metabolic syndromes such as Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU). Then how is the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for kidney disease? Through this literature review, it is hoped that information will be obtained regarding the effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy on kidney function, both benefits and side effects, especially in kidney disease due to metabolic syndrome (MetS).

Abstract

Ovulatory disorders, damage to the fallopian tubes, uterine issues, and conditions such as endometriosis have been identified as primary causes of female infertility. This article aims to explore the potential of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in enhancing fertility. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical procedure that involves inhaling pure oxygen (100%) within a chamber or room under pressure higher than normal atmospheric pressure, specifically over 1 absolute atmosphere (ATA), to accelerate and enhance the body's healing and recovery abilities. Under elevated atmospheric pressure, gaseous oxygen can dissolve more readily into the blood plasma. Research results suggest that HBOT holds potential in improving fertility due to endometrial receptivity issues and may also boost male fertility. Future studies need to be conducted on the impact, safety, and mechanisms of HBOT in relation to enhancing female fertility
