Abstract

Drawing on narrative inquiry aiming to understand the experience of student teachers learning context texts through different modes of meaning. This paper reports on the use of narrative frames as a mean of investigating the intersemiotic practice experiences of student teachers majoring in English education program in Karawang, West Java, Indonesia. Students in depth interview data revealed that multimodal practice has the potential to promote the role of student teachers as designers and navigators in reading English disciplinary texts. In addition, multimodal reading encourages the student teachers to become autonomous language learners. Moreover, multimodality reading tasks can scaffold students in comprehending academic language and in increasing students’ academic vocabulary development as well. These findings have implications for policy makers and teacher educators.

Abstract

This paper reports the survey results of 20 EFL teachers regarding their beliefs, knowledge and practices in using dictionaries in their classes at English education programme of a state university in Karawang - West Java, Indonesia. The questionnaire consists of four parts. The first part investigates the profile of the participants as dictionary users. The second part reports the results of teachers’ knowledge with regard to dictionary use through the lexicographic survey. The third part presents the results of EFL teachers’ general preconception about dictionaries. The fourth part presents teachers’ belief in the value of dictionaries for students. Finally, this paper suggests teachers how to utilize dictionaries in the classroom activities. Though the teacher participants are somewhat small, certain tendencies emerge as they show familiarity with dictionaries as an indivisible part of English language learning kit; they also agree that students need to be taught how to use dictionaries.

Abstract

Pelatihan Praktik Eksploratori (EP) dan Pedagogi Genre Linguistik Fungsional Sistemik (SFL-GP) dengan dukungan kecerdasan buatan (AI) bertujuan membekali calon guru bahasa Inggris dengan kompetensi mengintegrasikan teori, praktik, dan teknologi. Pelatihan melibatkan 80 peserta yang memperoleh materi, praktik studi kasus, dan evaluasi reflektif. Hasil menunjukkan 90% peserta mampu menerapkan EP secara efektif dalam pembelajaran yang kolaboratif dan reflektif, sementara AI mempercepat analisis data dan umpan balik. Pelatihan ini meningkatkan profesionalisme calon guru bahasa Inggris dalam menghadapi tantangan pembelajaran masa depan yang dinamis dan berbasis teknologi. memerlukan lebih banyak praktik

Abstract

Transformasi pendidikan di era digital menuntut sinergi antara literasi teknologi, layanan konseling, dan penguatan nilai budaya lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dan siswa melalui pelatihan interaktif yang mengintegrasikan Generative AI, konseling dasar, dan pembelajaran berbasis kearifan lokal. Program dilaksanakan di SMA Muhammadiyah 6 Yogyakarta dengan melibatkan 14 guru dan 30 siswa. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup workshop partisipatif, simulasi, serta penyusunan produk dan RPP. Hasil pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa sebesar 80 % dan guru sebesar 85 %. Siswa menghasilkan konten berbasis AI yang etis dan terverifikasi, sementara guru mampu menyusun RPP kontekstual dan menerapkan teknik konseling dasar. Refleksi peserta mengindikasikan perubahan perspektif terhadap peran teknologi, pentingnya empati dalam pendidikan, serta kesadaran terhadap nilai budaya dalam pembelajaran. Program ini terbukti efektif dalam menciptakan ekosistem pendidikan yang berakar lokal namun adaptif secara digital. Temuan ini menguatkan pentingnya pendekatan interdisipliner dalam menjawab tantangan pendidikan abad ke-21.
