Abstract

This research intends to initiate and formulate the economic theology of the Toraja Church based on a biblical view, and it is realized that it requires challenging and complex efforts. The field of Economics is vast and significant, and therefore, in the context of the Toraja Church, theology is inclined to aid economists in establishing an ethical, faith-based groundwork for the development of economics. The extensive scope of this inquiry has motivated the Toraja Church to initiate this investigation as a foundation for fostering sustainable research pertinent to the economic realm of Torajan population. This research carries out using a qualitative method. Primary data were collected by means of observations and interviews during various mini-tours and live-ins of field research. Both personal interviews and those in the form of tentative-by-the-run FGD were conducted. To support them, referential data were collected by literature review and documentation from various stakeholders. This study recognizes 1) God's mandate to organize the economy, 2) preferential options for the poor, and 3) economic empowerment as a responsible duty. However, in its fundamentals the Toraja Church should build its economic theology based on Biblical principles, taking consideration of its experience & history and the community’s socio-cultural context.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine how to build a Christian university organizational culture based on core values. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method focused on a university, namely Universitas Kristen Indonesia Toraja. The research data was obtained through observation and interview instruments. The data analysis technique used was thematic analysis through coding of interview transcripts or observation notes. This study emphasizes that the core values formulated by UKI Toraja are not only important in determining the organization's direction but also serve as guidelines and guidance for all university stakeholders. More transcendental values, such as Christianity, local wisdom philosophy, human dignity, as well as social and national concern, require critical reflection that enables every member of the UKI Toraja community to be directed toward the same goal. Core values ultimately build organizational cultural values as pillars of transformation in facing the challenges of changes in the higher education environment and enhancing more meaningful commitment from the entire academic community.

Abstract

This study aims to produce empathic budgeting models that are built through the concept of altruism. With this model, regional budgets are built into a result of social construction that is full of values, empowering, emancipatory, and that regional budgeting is dedicated to the welfare of the community. This study uses a content analysis approach to find out or explain the content of community interests in the regional budgeting of Tana Toraja Regency. The results of this study indicate that; (1) the formulation of the vision and mission shows clear content regarding the orientation of community welfare, but in the regional planning process the orientation towards community interests is decreasing. The musrembang process, which is expected to encourage community participation and needs, has to deal with the inability of regional funding, which is mostly allocated for personnel expenditures, goods and services, and other asset expenditures. (2) the regional budget budgeting model should be oriented along lines that are more emancipatory and empowering by prioritizing several ways in which "community welfare" is its basic objective. Budgetary actors who are involved in the regional budgeting process must have "feeling in" empathy which is done by entering into the emotional state (feelings) of the community through a deeper understanding of the community's condition. Thus the empathic budgeting model is expected to provide broad implications in understanding community orientation in regional budgeting

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has evolved from a philanthropic activity into a strategic approach to sustainable business, emphasizing the integration of economic, social, and environmental dimensions. In the context of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), CSR practices are often informal and deeply influenced by local values and community relationships. This study aims to analyze the integration of the Torajan cultural philosophy of Tallu Lolona into the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility at UMKM Kopi 1000 Nurhidayah and to develop a conceptual model explaining how this integration contributes to business sustainability and community welfare. The research employs a qualitative approach with an interpretive paradigm and a case study method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation involving business owners, employees, local farmers, community members, and local authorities. The findings reveal that CSR is not implemented as a formal administrative program but is embedded in daily business practices rooted in Tallu Lolona, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of humans, plants, and animals. This integration aligns with the triple bottom line framework of people, planet, and profit, resulting in a culturally grounded sustainability model referred to as the Sangkutu’ Banne Model. The study implies that local cultural values can serve as a strong ethical and strategic foundation for CSR in SMEs, enabling contextual, authentic, and long-term sustainability without relying solely on formal reporting systems.

Abstract

Limited utilization of household yards and low optimization of horticultural crops remain obstacles to strengthening family economies at the sub-district level. Dasawisma (Family Gardening Group) holds a strategic position as a social unit closely connected to household activities and has the potential to become a driver of the local resource-based economy. This community service program aims to strengthen the role of Dasawisma groups as drivers of the family economy through optimizing horticultural crops in their yards. Implementation methods include outreach, short-term horticultural cultivation training, practical planting assistance, and simple financial record-keeping training. The results of the activity indicate an increase in participants' knowledge about horticultural cultivation, an increased interest in managing their yards effectively, and a strengthening of Dasawisma's collective awareness as household economic agents. This program contributes to changing the community's perspective on yards as economic assets. It was concluded that educational interventions and participatory mentoring were effective in encouraging yard optimization and strengthening Dasawisma's role as drivers of the local economy.
