Abstract

Background & Objective  Patients with thalassaemia major with severe anaemia must receive blood transfusions for life. Giving continuous blood transfusions can cause iron accumulation in body tissues so that it can conclude complications, one of which is rheumatoid arthritis due to iron deposition in synovial tissue. This study is to determine the results of rheumatoid factor examination in thalassaemia patients with blood transfusion therapy. Method the research used is descriptive. The sampling technique uses incidental with a large number of samples as many as 66. Result Based on the results of the study obtained positive results as many as 11 (17%) people with an average Rheumatoid Factor level of 29 IU/mL, and negative results as many as 55 (83%) people. Conclusion Thalassaemia patients with blood transfusion therapy show the risk of rheumatoid arthritis with positive results of rheumatoid factor examination.

Abstract

Introduction: In general, food coloring can be obtained from natural dyes and safe synthetic food dyes. Natural dyes are sometimes considered less stable and less durable than synthetic food dyes. Although there are synthetic dyes that are safe for food, there are still people who use materials that are not suitable for use in food. The use of harmful food dyes must be monitored and recognized for their existence. Harmful food dyes that are commonly found are textile dyes such as Rhodamine B or methanyl yellow. Because it is not a proper food coloring, consumption of foods containing this ingredient can cause a series of health problems for those who consume it, especially in a relatively long period of time. This education aims to allow students to distinguish foods that use natural coloring agents and artificial coloring agents. The results of this activity students can find out the characteristics of foods that use harmful dyes and know the prevention that can be done. Objective: The purpose of this service is for SMAN 1 SUKADANA students to know the dangers of using hazardous coloring agents in food. Method: The method used is providing education by providing material to students, tests before and after material on the Use of Harmful Coloring Substances in Food. Result: Increased knowledge and attitudes of students are tested through pre-test and post-test. There has been an increase in knowledge in students about the dangers of using harmful dyes in food in general by 20%, so that the realization of the purpose of this service is expected to be able to distinguish food ingredients that contain harmful coloring agents in food and those that do not contain harmful coloring agents in food. Basically, knowledge and attitudes also depend on the high or low level of education of students. Therefore, the existence of this counseling can help students in adding insight into the dangers of using harmful dyes. The implementation of this activity can run well due to positive support in the implementation process, where support from various parties and there are no obstacles whatsoever. Conclusion: The socialization activity on the use of dangerous coloring substances in food to students at SMAN 1 Sukadana received a good response from the school and also students. With outreach activities regarding this, students will understand and be more careful in choosing food to avoid these chemicals.

Abstract

Urinalysis examination is needed to find information and determine the condition of the kidneys, urinary tract or other organs such as the liver, pancreas, and bile ducts. A urinary sediment examination aims to see organic and inorganic elements in the urine by preparing using Sternheimer Malbin stain reagents. Sternheimer Malbin stain has the disadvantage that it is a synthetic chemical. Stain from natural ingredients becomes a solution as an alternative to reduce the use of synthetic chemicals. Natural stains with the same characteristics and widely tested for bacterial and fungal stains are natural stains from teak leaf extract. Young leaf extract contains anthocyanins in red colour. This study aimed to determine the ability of ethanol extract from young leaves as a natural stain for urine sediment examination. The research method is an experiment with the Static Group Comparison research design. The population and samples in this study are teak leaves determined at the Galuh University Laboratory of the Biology Study Program with the Latin name (Tectona grandis L.f.). The results of the Fisher Exact test obtained a p (value) <0.050, so there was no significant difference between sediments without stain, Sternheimer Malbin, and ethanol extract of young leaves in colouring urine sediments. The conclusion is that the dye of ethanol extract from young teak leaves effectively colours the components of urine sediment, namely epithelial cells, leukocyte cells, and erythrocyte cells with red colour. Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus is a virus that attacks lymphocytes which can reduce the human immune system, making it more susceptible to various opportunistic infectious diseases and can cause death. This can cause other diseases to infect the body, one of which causes cell inflammation and liver cell necrosis, known as Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. The aim of this study is to determine the results of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen and Anti-Hepatitis C Virus examinations in patients positive for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. who underwent antiretroviral therapy at one of the Community Health Centers in Ciamis Regency. This research method is descriptive where the research was carried out on Human Immunodeficiency Virus positive patients at one of the Community Health Centers in Ciamis Regency with 35 respondents and the examination was carried out in the Community Health Center laboratory in May 2023. The results of this research obtained 2 (6%) HBsAg positive respondents and 1 (3%) respondent was positive for anti-HCV. In conclusion, HIV patients on antiretroviral therapy are at risk of developing Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infections.  Key words          : anti-HCV, HBsAg, ELISA, Immunochromatography

Abstract

ABSTRACT Remote technology refers to electronic information and telecommunication technologies utilized by medical personnel and doctors to manage patient health remotely. Such technologies encompass digital images, videos, or text files stored on computer systems. Technology-driven remote genetic counseling has demonstrated efficacy in enhancing the quality of life for patients afflicted with genetic disorders. Hence, researchers undertook a systematic review to assess the impact of remote technology interventions on the psychological well-being of patients with genetic diseases. Inclusion criteria comprised English articles published from 2012 to 2023 focusing on technology-based remote genetic counseling interventions for patients with genetic disorders, with outcomes pertaining to psychological well-being. Research designs included randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies, while exclusion criteria encompassed literature reviews, systematic reviews, and scoping reviews. The review encompassed four databases: PubMed, Scopus, Proquest, and Wiley. Critical Appraisal Checklist from the Joanna Briggs Institute was employed for methodological assessment. The studies, comprising randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental designs, met the inclusion criteria. The review of remote genetic counseling and psychoeducational interventions indicated a significant impact on psychological well-being, thereby enhancing the quality of life for patients with genetic disorders. remote genetic counseling  and psychoeducational interventions interventions have been shown to ameliorate the psychological status of patients affected by genetic disorders, thereby enhancing their quality of life. Evidence-based interventions utilizing technology can be integrated into medical care systems to effectively manage patients with genetic disorders. Keywords: Remote Genetic Counseling, Mobile Applications, Psychoeducation, Telephone, Web-Based

Abstract

This service activity aims to empower the community in the health sector through Jatekdarsi education so that they can maintain their blood pressure conditions, understand the problem of hypertension, and treatment efforts to prevent complications due to hypertension. The method used was counseling with service partners, namely residents of Raharja village, Kota Banjar. The evaluation instrument for this activity used pre-test and post-test as well as blood pressure examination, which was then analyzed descriptively. The results of this service indicated that the level of knowledge of citizens about hypertension was excellent. It was indicated by the pre-test (75%) and post-test (90%). From the results of the examination of hypertension from 43 respondents who were present, it was known that 33% had high blood pressure (hypertension), 2% had low blood pressure (hypotension), and the rest (65%) had normal blood pressure. These results indicated that the health condition of the residents of Raharja village was quite good. Furthermore, it is hoped that the community can maintain this condition to avoid complications due to hypertension.
