Abstract

Masalah kontroversial adalah masalah yang memunculkan perbedaan pendapat dan dapat memunculkan argument dan persepsi yang beragam. Fakta menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar calon guru masih belum terbiasa menyelesaikan masalah kontroversial. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengeksplorasi persepsi calon guru dalam menyelesaikan masalah kontroversial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Instrumen tes dan wawancara digunakan untuk menggali informasi. Hasil dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan mengacu pada aspek persepsi yakni penyerapan, pemahaman, dan penilaian. Hasilnya adalah pada aspek penyerapan, calon guru menyampaikan respon yang beragam, baik yang salah maupun benar. Aspek pemahaman terjadi pada saat mengkaitkan pengetahuan yang sudah dimiliki dengan konsep pada permasalahan kontroversial. Aspek penilaian muncul pada saat calon guru memberikan sudut pandang yang berbeda dari masalah yang diberikan. Calon guru diharapkan sering menyelesaikan masalah yang bervariasi sehingga terbiasa menyelesaikan masalah kontroversial. Controversial issues are issues that give rise to differences of opinion and can lead to various arguments and perceptions. The facts show that most prospective teachers are still not used to solving controversial issues. The purpose of this research is to explore the perceptions of prospective teachers in solving controversial issues. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach.. The results were analyzed qualitatively with reference to the aspects of perception, namely absorption, understanding, and assessment. The result is that in the absorption aspect, prospective teachers convey a variety of responses, both wrong and right. The understanding aspect occurs when relating existing knowledge to concepts on controversial issues. The assessment aspect appears when the prospective teacher gives a different perspective on the problem given. Prospective teachers are expected to often solve various problems so that they are used to solving controversial problems.

Abstract

Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa SMP di Indonesia. Hal ini didasarkan dari hasil Ujian Nasional (UN) yang mengalami penurunan. Selain itu, hasil tes PISA dan TIMSS menunjukkan bahwa Indonesia masih berada di urutan bawah. Untuk mengatasi hal itu, maka perlu ditelusuri proses berpikir tingkat tinggi dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika. Masalah matematika yang digunakan adalah soal tipe HOTS. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII M MTsN 1 Malang dengan tipe kecerdasan linguistik, logis-matematis, dan visual-spasial. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa berkecerdasan linguistik, logis-matematis, dan visual-spasial telah dapat menganalisis keterkaitan antar informasi, menemukan ide/fakta yang relevan dengan soal, memilih informasi, memodifikasi konjektur yang salah agar menjadi benar, mengajukan konjektur, serta menyelidiki dan memberikan kemungkinan cara penyelesaian dan jawaban yang lain. Siswa berkecerdasan linguistik selalu memeriksa setiap langkah penyelesaianya. Siswa berkecerdasan logis-matematis dan visual-spasial dapat memberikan kemungkinan cara penyelesaian yang lain secara lengkap.

Abstract

Partners in this community service activity are FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang students who need insight into entrepreneurship. The problem with this service partner is that the financial source is only from the parents, while the parents' economic conditions (student guardians) are in the lower middle class, while the needs of students are also increasing. So that students can continue to continue their studies and be able to innovate and develop their potential, additional funds are needed. One way is to start entrepreneurship. Based on the partner's problems, the Dedication Team of the Mathematics Department of FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang provided a solution, namely by providing training regarding the entrepreneurial mindset for FMIPA students with several kinds of material such as: why students should be entrepreneurs, finding personal branding and digital marketing. Abstract

Literasi Statistis adalah salah satu kecakapan yang diperlukan di era globalisasi. Perkembangan teknologi yang begitu cepat, berakibat pada ketersediaan data dalam skala besar. Untuk merespon fenomena ini, siswa perlu dibekali dengan literasi statistis sejak dini. Selain literasi bagi siswa, guru juga perlu memilikinya agar kualitas pembelajaran matematika di sekolah meningkat. Oleh karena itu, Departemen Matematika FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang melaksanakan pengabdian kepada masyarakat terkait peningkatan literasi statistika bagi para guru Matematika di MGMP matematika SMA Kota Kediri. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk ceramah dan workshop. Berdasarkan kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan, kegiatan ini memberikan pemahaman lebih bagi para guru tentang literasi statistis yang merupakan materi ajar baru dari contoh-contoh soal yang mungkin diberikan untuk meningkatkan nilai AKM siswa. Selain itu guru-guru juga memperoleh informasi terkait metode ajar yang sesuai untuk diterapkan ke siswa terutama untuk literasi numerasi ini.  Kata kunci— Literasi Statistika, Matematika, Pelatihan, Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Abstract Statistical Literacy is one of the skills needed in the era of globalization. The rapid development of technology has resulted in the availability of data on a large scale. To respond to this phenomenon, students need to be equipped with statistical literacy from an early age. In addition to literacy for students, teachers also need to have it so that the quality of learning mathematics in schools increases. Therefore, Mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University of Malang carried out community service related to increasing statistical literacy for Mathematics high school teachers at Kediri City. Activities are carried out in the form of lectures and workshops. Based on the activities that have been carried out, this activity provides more understanding for teachers about statistical literacy which is a new teaching material from examples of questions that may be given to increase the value of students' AKM. In addition, teachers also obtain information related to appropriate teaching methods to apply to students, especially for numeracy literacy. Keywords— Statistics Literacy, Mathematics, Workshop, Community Service

Abstract

This study investigates students' mathematical justification abilities in analyzing answers obtained from one of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) based services, namely ChatGPT. The subjects of this descriptive qualitative study are 13 fourth-semester students of STKIP-PGRI Bandar Lampung. They were asked to utilize ChatGPT to solve two linear equation system questions adopted from Indonesian university entrance tests in 2019. The students were then requested to analyze and justify the responses generated by ChatGPT. The justifications from students were then analyzed to see their abilities and determine whether the answers from ChatGPT were correct. As many as 61.54% of the respondents could understand the instructions of the two questions and provide reviews for the answers generated by ChatGPT. 38.46% of the respondents did not understand the questions' instructions. The results showed that students may have lacked the necessary ability to analyze the AI-generated answers in depth and explain them in detail. This may be due to weak mastery of the basic concepts of the material and a lack of accuracy. The findings call for paying more attention to students' mathematical justification abilities in the current AI-assisted era.

Abstract

During the implementation of online learning caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, there are some obstacles that occurred in the class. Almost 40% of students in observation class felt bored and spent more time doing assignments during online learning.  Hence, to stimulate the activeness of students it is needed to develop website-based electronic teaching materials on central tendency material which has valid, practice, and effective criteria and can support online learning. The development model used is the 3-stage Plomp Model, namely (1) preliminary research, (2) development or prototyping phase, (3) assessment phase. The subjects of this study are 30 students in the 8H class of Junior High School 8 Malang. The results of the validation test show that the product is valid based on the validation sheet by an expert validator and a practitioner validator which get an average score of 3.9. The results of the practicality test show that the product is practically based on the teacher's and the student's response questionnaire sheets which get an average score of 3.67. Besides, about 79% of students agreed that the product is interesting. The effectiveness test shows that the product is effective since 86.7% of students met the minimum KKM score in the evaluation test. So, it could be concluded that the product  developed can be used to support online learning.
