Abstract

This study aims to develop effective worksheets based on visual-spatial and logical mathematical intelligence that are effective in understanding students' concepts. Student worksheets are developed based on material criteria and the intelligence background of students. Student worksheets are designed using language or instructions that are easy for students to understand. Students are directed to find concepts independently, and the origin of a concept is obtained by utilizing the intelligence they have. Research on this development is only limited to the test phase. The subjects in this study are seventh-grade students in the first semester of SMP Negeri 2 Merbau Mataram in the academic year 2018/2019. The instrument used in this study is a conceptual understanding test instrument that is used to see the effectiveness of the worksheets of students developed. An assessment of the understanding of students' concepts is carried out based on the scoring guidelines that have been made. The results of the research and discussion show that the worksheets of students developed are very practical in terms of understanding the concepts of students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the learning model of circuit learning to the learning outcomes of class VII first semester students of SMP Al-Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2019/2020. This research is a quasi-experimental study using two classes as the experimental class and the control class. The population in this study was all students of class VII SMP Al-Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung as many as 278 students divided into seven classes. The sample in this study was determined using cluster random sampling technique. Class VII D as an experimental class and class VII F as a control class. The instrument used in this study was in the form of essay test questions. Based on the results of research and discussion, the circuit learning model affects the learning outcomes of Grade VII students of SMP Al-Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung. These effects can be seen from the differences in learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class.

Abstract

Abstract: The research started from the low critical thinking ability of students in mathematics lessons in class VIII D SMP Negeri 16 Bandar Lampung in the 2020/2021 school year. The purpose of this research is to improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills through the application of the Problem Posing learning model. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII D SMP Negeri 16 Bandar Lampung, amounting to 27 people, while the object in this study was the students' critical thinking ability in participating in mathematics learning. Data collection techniques using test and observation techniques. The data analysis technique used in this study consisted of: 1) analysis of observation results, 2) analysis of critical thinking ability test results. To check the degree of trustworthiness of the data, this study used triangulation of other research sources, namely school principals, mathematics teachers, and students. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is an increase in students' critical thinking skills in learning mathematics. The improvement of students' critical thinking skills in learning mathematics is as follows: in the pre-cycle who passed there were 5 people or 18.52%, and 22 people did not pass or 81.48%, increased in the first cycle, namely 9 people (33.33%) who passed and 18 people (66.67%) did not pass, and in the second cycle there were 21 people (77.78%) who passed well and 6 people (22.22%) did not pass.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is a classroom action research which consists of three cycles. The purpose of this research is to improve mathematics learning outcomes by applying an open-ended approach. The subjects in this study were seventh grade students of SMP Nusantara Bandar Lampung in the even semester of the 2020/2021 school year. Each cycle consists of three meetings with two meetings for learning and one meeting for tests or evaluations. Data collection techniques used in this study using observation and test techniques. The data analysis technique was carried out by analyzing the results of observations and analysis of the results of the measurement test of learning outcomes. The results of data analysis showed an increase in student learning outcomes in each cycle. The percentage of students who got more than or equal to 70 in the first cycle was 41.93%, the second cycle was 51.61%, and the third cycle was 80.64%. Thus the percentage of students who scored more than or equal to 70 from cycle I to cycle II increased by 9.68%% and from cycle II to cycle III increased by 29.03%. The results obtained indicate that the application of an open-ended approach can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research which aims to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share cooperative learning model on students' mathematical communication skills. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Sampling was done by purposive random sampling, it was found that class VIIA was the experimental class and class VIIB was the conventional class. The instrument used in this study was an essay question to measure students' mathematical communication skills. Before the instrument test is used, the validity, reliability, level of difficulty and also the discriminatory power of the questions are tested. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the t-test because it met the requirements for the data to be normally distributed and homogeneous. Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that the cooperative learning model of the Think Pair Share type affects the communication skills of students.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aims to determine the increase in the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts by implementing the discovery learning model. The population of this study were all Grade VIII students in the even semester of Tri Sukses Natar Middle School for the 2022/2023 academic year, totaling 94 students and distributed in four classes. The research sample was class IIC and VIIID students who were taken by purposive sampling with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research data was obtained through a concept understanding test in the form of an essay. Data analysis in this study used a t-test. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it is concluded that the implementation of the discovery learning model can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the cooperative learning model type GI (Group Investigation) on students' mathematical communication skills. This research is a quantitative research with a type of quasi-experimental research. The population in this study were all students of class X TO at SMK Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung even semester of the 2020-2021 academic year, amounting to 179 students and sampling using cluster random sampling technique so that two classes were obtained as the research sample, namely class X TO 4 as the experimental class. as many as 36 students and class X TO 5 as the control class as well as 36 students. Data were collected through tests of mathematical communication skills in the form of essay tests. Based on the t test conducted, it was obtained t count > t table which was 16.50 > 1.69, which means that there was a significant influence on the cooperative learning model type GI (Group Investigation) on students' mathematical communication skills in class X TO SMK Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung Even Semester of The 2020-2021 Academic Year.

Abstract

Society 5.0 requires the ability to think critically to deal with various changes. The ability to think critically in an era that emphasizes the role of humans as the center of civilization through the use of digital technology is not in line with the fact that the ability to think critically in class VIII odd semester students at SMP Negeri 26 Bandar Lampung in the 2022/2023 academic year. The ability to think critically mathematically in class VIII students is still a problem, for this reason this study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Open Ended approach on students' critical thinking ability in mathematics. This quasi-experimental study, with a population of all VIII grade students, totaling 227 students, while the samples were VIII E class as the experimental class and VIII G class as the control class. Samples were taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique and to determine students' mathematical critical thinking skills were given a test in the form of a description of 5 questions which had previously been tested for validity and reliability. From the results of testing the hypothesis using the t test, the value of thitung = 3.35 is obtained. From the t distribution table at a significant level of 5% it is known that tdaftar = t(1-α) = 1.67. Thus thitung > tdaftar, so it can be concluded that the implementation of the Open Ended approach can affect the mathematical critical thinking skills of Grade VIII students in odd semesters at SMP Negeri 26 Bandar Lampung in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

One of the interesting applications of ethnomathematics is utilizing traditional houses as learning media, particularly for understanding the concept of plane shapes, which forms a crucial foundation in geometry and various real-world applications. Lamban Pesagi, the traditional house of Lampung people can be used as a source or material in conveying geometry concepts. The research aims to discuss how Lamban Pesagi can be utilized as a medium for learning the concept of flat figures. This research examines the elements of mathematics (ethnomathematics) in the architecture of Lampung traditional houses, especially Lamban Pesagi, which is in the State Museum of Lampung Province.  This research analyzes the geometry figures found in Lamban Pesagi and develops creative and innovative mathematics learning activities based on the analysis with the principles of constructivism. In addition, it can also evaluate the impact on students' understanding and attitudes through geometry ability tests, observations of student participation in learning activities, and questionnaires to measure students' attitudes towards mathematics. Based on the results of exploration and discussion, it can be concluded that in Lampung traditional houses, especially Lamban Pesagi, geometric shapes are found. The geometry shapes are in the form of flat figures including square, rectangle, parallelogram, rhombus and triangle. Lamban Pesagi with its various geometric shapes can be an interesting learning resource to teach the concept of plane figures. Students are invited to identify and categorize the figures, thus fostering pride in local culture and increasing motivation and understanding of geometry. The impact of this learning can be evaluated through comprehension test and questionnare to measure students’ attitudes.
