Abstract

Contemporary discourse on Islamic education in Aceh has predominantly centered on institutional reform and curricular adjustment, yet it has insufficiently addressed the deeper epistemic rupture underlying the crisis of adab, the erosion of pedagogical relationships, and the superficiality of learning processes. The historical marginalization of rangkang—often reduced to a merely descriptive artifact—reveals a conceptual void in understanding the foundational structure of Acehnese local pedagogy. This study reconstructs rangkang as a constitutive element of the Acehnese epistemic prototype through a qualitative historical–conceptual approach grounded in the analysis of manuscripts, colonial archives, classical texts, and contemporary scholarly works. The findings demonstrate that rangkang functioned as an integral epistemic infrastructure, integrating relational-humanistic pedagogy, dialogical and gradual (slow) learning, and the principle of adab qabl al-‘ilm in the formation of knowledge. Rather than a peripheral component, rangkang served as a structural nexus ensuring continuity between intellectual tradition, social order, and spiritual discipline. This study contributes to the scholarship on Islamic education by formulating rangkang as a local epistemic prototype that challenges institutionalist paradigms and offers a model of Islamic education that is tradition-rooted yet globally resonant.

Abstract

Abstract

The 2025 Aceh floods exposed persistent challenges of distributive justice in post-disaster recovery governance, particularly regarding unequal access to recovery resources among vulnerable groups. While previous studies have primarily focused on institutional effectiveness, coordination mechanisms, and the socio-economic impacts of disasters, limited attention has been given to distributive justice from the perspective of fiqh siyāsah (Islamic political jurisprudence). This study aims to identify patterns of inequality in post-disaster aid distribution, examine the concept of distributive justice within fiqh siyāsah, and reconstruct principles of equitable post-disaster recovery governance. This research employs a qualitative library research design combined with policy document analysis. Data were collected from government regulations, official reports of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), scholarly publications, and credible media reports related to the 2025 Aceh floods. The findings reveal that recovery policies tend to prioritize physical reconstruction and formal economic sectors, while vulnerable groups such as smallholder farmers, traditional fishers, women, and persons with disabilities often face unequal access to assistance. Structural biases, bureaucratic complexity, and centralized decision-making further contribute to social and geographical disparities in resource distribution. Drawing upon the principles of al-'adālah, al-maṣlaḥah, al-amānah, al-syūrā, and ri'āyah al-ra'iyyah, this study proposes a normative model of post-disaster recovery governance that prioritizes vulnerable populations, strengthens ethical accountability, and promotes participatory decision-making. The study contributes to the development of fiqh siyāsah and disaster governance studies by offering a framework for advancing distributive justice in post-disaster recovery.

Abstract

This study explores the ubiquitous presence of wasathiyah (moderation) in the Qur'an, focusing on Surah Al-Baqarah verse 143 as its foundation. The research aims to understand the Qurais Shihab's interpretation of verses related to wasathiyah across various issues and discourses. This article's position in existing research novelty lies in proving the ubiquitous presence of wasathiyah in the Qur'an, which has not been comprehensively studied in scholarly journals. Despite Qurais Shihab extensively discussing the spread of wasathiyah verses in various situations and conditions in both his Al-Misbah exegesis and YouTube content, this article falls under literature review research with a qualitative approach. The methodology involves descriptive analysis and content study of Qurais Shihab's thoughts, particularly in the Al-Misbah exegesis. The findings conclude that the ubiquitous presence of wasathiyah exists within the contexts of religion, social-humanitarian issues, family, work, economics, and political governance.
