Abstract

This study aims to design and test an automatic fish feeder (AFF) controlled by a microcontroller with an electricity supply from a solar cell. To build a reliable and accurate system, input data is collected for design, followed by system development, feasibility analysis, and performance testing. The test results show that AFF works according to the settings of the microcontroller, where the servo motor can open and close the feed channel periodically, three times a day. The feeding schedule is set at 07.00, 12.00, and 16.00. In addition, fundamental indicators including feed conversion ratio (FCR) and feed efficiency (FE) are showing positive results. Through the application of AFF which replaces manual feeding, the FCR is obtained at 1.15 from the initial value of 1.44. Meanwhile, FE increased from 69.4% to 86.8%. Technically, AFF is suitable for use by tilapia and carp farmers.

Abstract

Roasting occurs due to heat transfer from the heating surface into the material. Coffee roasting plays an important role in determining the chemical composition, aroma, and taste of coffee. There are two main types of coffee roasters, namely drum and hot air roasters. This research aims to determine the heat transfer in hot air coffee roasters. The data collected consists of roasting time, coffee bean temperature, roasting room temperature, fuel consumption and air flow speed in the cyclone system chimney and sample was carried out at medium roasting level, with three repetitions. The method used is theoretical analysis and experimental testing. The results showed that the heat transfer mechanism in hot air roasting is a conduction and convection mechanism. The amount of conduction and convection heat transfer in the coffee roasting equipment was carried out in three repetitions. It was also found that factors that influence the rate of heat transfer in hot air roasting equipment are due to conduction and convection, as well as influenced by heat transfer surface area, thermal conductivity, air flow speed from blower pressure and pressure on the gas fuel. The results of the research show that the heat transfer mechanism in hot air roasting is a conduction and convection mechanism. The amount of heat transfer in one repetition of the conduction quantity (Q) is 9222.8 W and the convection rate (Q) is 3209.4 W with an average efficiency of 34.7%, in two repetitions the conduction quantity (Q) is 9883.3 W and the convection rate (Q) is 3444.6 W with the average efficiency is 34.8%, at three repetitions the conduction (Q) is 9690.3 W and the convection rate (Q) is 1123.3 W, the average efficiency is 11.6%. Factors that influence the rate of heat transfer in hot air roasting tools are conduction and convection, heat transfer surface area, thermal conductivity, air flow speed due to blower pressure and pressure on LPG gas fuel.

Abstract

UMKM Rasa Alami has succeeded in making a significant increase in the production and sale of bananas through the implementation of several innovations. These innovations include the use of a banana sale dryer which facilitates an increase in production volume, the adoption of an e-commerce based sales system which expands sales reach and simplifies the process, as well as the implementation of a financial system that can be accessed via smartphone which allows Rasa Alami MSME partners to control and record financial data every sales transactions. As a result of these innovations, there was an increase in sales banana production capacity from 1.2 tons in October to 1.8 tons in November, showing an increase of 55%. Meanwhile, sales turnover also increased by 50%, from Rp. 8,500,000 in October to Rp. 12,749,999 in November 2023.

Abstract

Cijambe district is a famous area for fish farming. The group of tilapia and carp farmers consists of 50 people, and each of them has 10 to 12 ponds. The problem is that the conventional feeding system requires a lot of time and schedule uncertainty. As a result, problems arise in the fish’s growth and size. On the other hand, too much feed causes high production costs. The solution offered is by applying an automatic fish feeder (AFF) solar cell-based.  The AFF is capable of providing fish feed periodically, three times a day. The feeding schedule is set at 07.00, 12.00, and 16.00. The purpose of this service program is to increase the production of fish farmers in Cijambe village through AFF technology using solar cells.  The method used is identifying the needs of fish farmers, designing AFF tools, manufacturing AFF, operational assistance training of using and maintenance of AFF, and the output of the program. The results of the community service activities were an increase in feeding efficiency from 69.4% to 86.8%, an increase in knowledge and skills about AFF from the fish farmers group at 70%, and an increase in carp production capacity from 5 tons per month to 8 tons, and tilapia from 15 tons per month to 24 tons or an increase in production capacity of 60%.  ---  Kecamatan Cijambe merupakan daerah yang terkenal dengan budidaya ikan. Sebanyak 50 peternak sebagai kelompok peternak ikan yang masing – masing memiliki kolam 10 hingga 12 kolam. Permasalahan yang dihadapi peternak ikan adalah pemberian pakan ikan yang dilakukan secara manual sehingga dibutuhkan waktu yang banyak dan jadwal ketidakpastian pemberian pakan berdampak pada pertumbuhan dan ukuran ikan. Di samping itu, terlalu banyak pemberian pakan menyebabkan tingginya biaya produksi. Solusi yang ditawarkan yaitu dengan menerapkan teknologi alat pakan ikan otomatis/Automatic Fish Feeder (AFF)berbasis  solar cell. AFF tersebut mampu memberikan pakan ikan secara otomatis secara periodik, tiga kali sehari. Jadwal pemberian pakan di atur pada pukul 07.00, 12.00 dan 16.00. Tujuan program pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan produksi kelompok peternak ikan desa Cijambe melalui teknologi alat pakan ikan otomatis menggunakan solar cell. Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan yaitu identifikasi kebutuhan peternak ikan, desain alat pakan ikan otomatis, pembuatan alat pakan ikan otomatis, pendampingan operasional pelatihan penggunaan dan pemeliharaan alat pakan ikan otomatis, dan output program pengabdian. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian yaitu terjadi peningkatan efisiensi pemberian pakan dari 69,4% menjadi 86,8%, terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang AFF dari kelompok peternak ikan sebesar 70% dan peningkatan kapasitas produksi ikan mas dari 5 ton per bulan menjadi 8 ton, dan ikan nila dari 15 ton per bulan menjadi 24 ton atau terjadi peningkatan kapasitas produksi sebesar  60%.

Abstract

The purpose of designing the special service tools (SST) for motorcycle timing gear is to make it easier for mechanics to carry out the process of removing the motorcycle timing gear. The process of making this tool is carried out in several stages, including the selection of materials and the manufacturing process. The material used is S30C steel because this material has a maximum tensile strength of 48 Kg/mm. The tools used in the manufacturing process include lathes, drilling machines, grinders, saws, files, vise, hacksaws, steel rulers, pins, key sets. The measurement of the material to be used is attempted as accurately as possible in order to obtain the best results. After the required materials are available, then work on the machine tools is carried out. After this stage is complete then proceed with the finishing process. The test results show that with this tool the process of removing the timing gear on the crankshaft only takes 35.26 seconds and avoids damage to the components. The bending stress that occurs in the turning rod is still below the allowable, which is about 6.32 kg/mm. The shear stress that occurs at the hook eye is also still below the allowable, which is about 0.105 kg/mm2. The torsional stress on the pressing bolt is 0.11 kg/mm2 which is still below the allowable 4.8 kg/mm2. The root shear stress on the pressing bolt is still below the allowable, which is about 0.016 kg/mm. The root shear stress on the hook eye is still below the allowable, which is about 0.013 kg/mm. The tensile stress on the thread that occurs in the pressure bolt is still below the allowable tensile stress on the thread on the bolt, which is 0.26 Kg/mm2. The tensile stress on the thread that occurs at the hook eye is still below the allowable, which is about 0.055 kg/mm2. The tensile stress that occurs in the towing pipe is still below the allowable, which is about 0.038 kg/mm. Based on this, overall the tool is safe to use

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan di kelompok peternak ikan desa Cijambe, Kec. Subang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk untuk meningkatkan produksi kelompok peternak ikan desa Cijambe melalui teknologi alat pakan ikan otomatis menggunakan solar cell. Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan yaitu identifikasi kebutuhan peternak ikan, desain alat pakan ikan otomatis, pembuatan alat pakan ikan otomatis, pendampingan operasional pelatihan penggunaan dan pemeliharaan alat pakan ikan otomatis. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian yaitu terjadi peningkatan efisiensi pemberian pakan atau Feed Efficiency (FE) dari 69,4% menjadi 86,8. Peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang alat pakan ikan dari kelompok peternak ikan sebesar 70% dengan dilaksanakannya penjadwalan pemberian pakan ikan pada pukul 07.00, 12.00, dan 16.00. Peningkatan kapasitas produksi sebesar 60% yang terdiri atas ikan mas dari 5 ton per bulan menjadi 8 ton, dan ikan nila dari 15 ton per bulan menjadi 24 ton.

Abstract

Kondisi hulu perkebunan rambutan di Desa Tanggulun Barat sangat memprihatinkan, sementara sektor hilir belum memiliki dukungan pascapanen untuk pengolahan buah rambutan. Akibatnya, pendapatan petani terbatas dan stagnan dari tahun ke tahun. Solusi yang diterapkan adalah pemanfaatan teknologi penggorengan vakum (vacuum frying), branding produk, dan pengembangan sistem pengolahan berbasis digital. Pelatihan juga diberikan kepada masyarakat mengenai pengoperasian mesin dan penggunaan sistem digital untuk meningkatkan efisiensi produksi dan pemasaran. Kegiatan ini mencakup pengumpulan data, identifikasi kebutuhan, desain dan manufaktur mesin penggorengan vakum, branding produk, pengembangan sistem pemasaran digital, serta pelatihan kepada masyarakat. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat sebesar 81%, serta kenaikan omzet penjualan keripik Rambutan Raranggeuy sebesar 65% setelah implementasi branding produk dan pemasaran digital melalui e-commerce. Solusi ini efektif dalam meningkatkan nilai tambah rambutan, mendorong pendapatan petani, dan memperkuat pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat lokal.

Abstract

Human commonly use plastic because it is easy to get, economical, heat-resistant, and lightweight. PET plastic is widely used for single-use bottles. This high usage of plastic leads to the accumulation of plastic waste which is difficult to decompose and damaging the environment. The solution is to recycle plastic using an HSS crusher-type plastic shredder. The design process of the HSS crusher-type plastic crusher machine includes: the data collection process, the design starting from the design concept, design embodiment, and design details using Solidworks 2021 Software in two- and three-dimensional forms then processed for design validation. Then, the supervision of the tool manufacturing was continued to determine the suitability of the tool with the created design, machine testing, and evaluation. The dimension of this HSS crusher-type plastic shredding machine design is 775 í— 635 í— 1553 mm with a machine weight of 200 kg. The machine components consist of AS blade, US blade, side blade lock, side blade, UCP 208, size sieve, US knife holder, machine frame, output, holder, US cover, top cover, pulley cover, pulley, output cover, input, hopper, and machine wheel. The engine frame is made by using UNP 50-60 iron. The engine drive is a a 1HP electric motor. The machine made by mild steel plate material which has 10 pcs of steel blades consisting of 6 pcs of steel blades and 4 pcs of sitting blades. The product from this shredded machine is in the form of PET plastic flakes which can be recycled further.

Abstract

Vacuum Frying is a tool used to process raw materials into chips using a vacuum system. Basically, food ingredients will be fried at a temperature below the boiling temperature of the oil, so that the water content in the food ingredients will evaporate. The aim of research is to create design and development of vacuum frying with thermo control. Vacuum functions to reduce the pressure in the frying chamber, so that the oil will boil below the boiling temperature of the oil, namely below 3000 to avoid burning by evaporating the water content (vacuumed) and minimizing the content lost by the heat of the oil. The design of the research consists of collecting data, design process, manufacturing process, machine testing, and evaluation. The oil tank capacity is 80 liters while the frying capacity reaches 10 kg. The vacuum frying process begins by putting oil into the drum and then heating the oil. Next, the raw materials are put into the chamber, after the oil boils, the vacuum faucet is turned on by turning it. Then the pump is turned on and the chamber is rotated to process the raw material into chips.  According to the machine testing 1.5 kg of rambutan chips were produced from 3.1 kg of raw materials and 1.3 kg of banana chips were produced from 3.9 kg of raw materials. Both trials were carried out for 1 hour 20 minutes. For the temperature from the test results, the initial temperature was 60°C and during testing the highest temperature reached 80°C.

Abstract

Desa Sadawarna di Kecamatan Cibogo, Kabupaten Subang, menghadapi permasalahan serius dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik, dengan produksi harian mencapai 0,5 ton. Minimnya fasilitas TPS dan rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat menjadi penyebab utama inefisiensi pengelolaan. Sebagai solusi, tim dari Politeknik Negeri Subang mengembangkan Mesin Pemusnah Sampah 100 (MPS 100), sebuah incinerator skala desa yang dirancang untuk efisiensi pengolahan dan edukasi lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan melalui tahapan perancangan, manufaktur, pengujian, pelatihan operasional, dan seminar edukasi. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan MPS mampu memusnahkan hingga 100 kg sampah per hari. Seminar edukatif yang menyertai kegiatan ini meningkatkan skor kesadaran masyarakat dari 68,00 (pretest) menjadi 88,40 (posttest), dengan nilai N-Gain 63,75% (kategori sedang). Inovasi ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi teknologi tepat guna dan pendekatan edukatif dapat meningkatkan kesadaran dan kapasitas masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah secara berkelanjutan.
