Abstract

Typhoid fever is one of infectious diseases which can cause many problems in Indonesia and other developing countries. This fever occurs as a result of infections triggered by Salmonella typhi bacteria. The growth of Salmonella typhi can be inhibited using antibiotics. This study aims at investigating whether there is a difference in sensitivity test of Salmonella typhi bacteria in isolate of patients with typhoid fever and pure culture in laboratoryonsome antibiotics. Salmonella typhi bacteria were isolated typhoid fever suspects at one of hospitals in Surakarta. Pure cultures of Salmonella typhi bacteria were obtained from Microbiological Laboratory of Setia Budi University. Sensitivity test of antibiotics on Salmonella typhi bacteria used diffusion method. Data of antibiotics of inhibition zone diameter (mm) of antibiotics were analyzed statistically using Two-Way Anova test. The research results demonstrate that the sensitivity test on Salmonella typhi bacteria in isolate of patients with typhoid fever shows resistance (R) towards amoxicillin and sensitivity (S) towards trimethoprim, chloramphenicol, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin. Meanwhile, pure culture shows sensitivity (S) towards trimethoprim, chloramphenicol, gentamicin, amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin. The diameter of inhibition zone of patient isolate is smaller than that of pure culture.

Abstract

Smoking is one of the health problems that is difficult to solve even has become a national and international problem. One of the negative effects of smoking is a decrease in HDL levels in the body. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of HDL levels in active adult smokers aged 31-35 years in RT.04 / RW.01 Mlajah Bangkalan Village. This research is a descriptive study, with a research design using cross sectional design. The variable of this study is the level of HDL in active smokers with a population of 15 respondents selected as samples using total sampling. The data collection method uses a photometer, the data obtained are then presented in a frequency distribution table. The results of research on HDL levels of active smokers mostly low HDL levels less than 60 mg / dl with 11 respondents (73.33%) .This happens because the nicotine contained in cigarette smoke will stimulate the hormone adrenaline which will consequently interfere with fat metabolism which causes HDL levels in the body decrease. From the results of this study it is expected that a smoker should reduce smoking habits and better carry out regular health checks

Abstract

Uric acid is a crystal formed from the metabolism of purines. In men, gout is dangerous if more than 7 mg / dl, whereas in women 6 mg / dl. In Indonesia 35% of gout occurs in men under the age of 35 years. The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in uric acid levels in people who like to consume coffee and smoke with people who only like to consume coffee in Mlajah Bangkalan Village. The research design used is comparative analytic. The variables in this study were uric acid levels and people consuming coffee and smoking with people consuming coffee only. The population in this study was 2,775 households in Mlajah Bangkalan Urban Village. Respondents in this study were 9 people consuming coffee and smoking, and 9 people were consuming coffee. The instrument used was POCT (Point Of Care Testing) using capillary blood. Data were analyzed using Independent Sample t Test. The results of this study indicate normal uric acid levels of people drinking coffee and smoking with an average value = 5 and the average value of uric acid levels in people only drink coffee = 4.67. The p-value = 0.587 (> from the alpha value of 0.05) so that there is no difference in the levels of uric acid levels in people who like to consume coffee and smoke with people who only like to consume coffee.

Abstract

Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the nail plate caused by dermatophyte, non-dermatophyte and yeast fungi. Onychomycosis causes damage to the nails, causing them to become thickened, brittle and easily destroyed. The factor causing nails to be infected with fungus is frequent direct contact with a humid and dirty environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of Trichophyton sp., Aspergillus sp., Candida albicans fungal infections in the nails of waste officers at the Bangkalan District Environmental Service. The research method used was descriptive and the research design used cross-sectional. The variables in this study were nail fungus in waste officers. The samples used were 46 samples from a total population of 91 respondents. This research was conducted at the Microbiology Laboratory of STIIKes Ngudia Husada Madura. The results obtained from this study with a total sample of 46 showed that nails were infected with Trichophyton sp., totaling 3 samples with a percentage of 9%, Aspergilus sp. as many as 10 samples with a percentage of 29% and Candida albicans 0%. Factors that cause fungal infections in nails are frequent contact with humid and dirty environments, not washing hands and feet using personal protective equipment while working. The results of this study found Trichophyton sp. and Aspergillus sp. fungi on the nails of garbage officers at the Bangkalan District Environmental Service. Prevention of nail infections in garbage officers can be done by using personal protective equipment (PPE) while working, washing hands and feet with soap.
