Abstract

Mangroves are coastal ecosystems that have many benefits, including the ecological benefits of being a source of nutrients for marine life (aquatic biota) and a source of food for land biota. This study aimed to determine the species composition and community structure of mangrove vegetation based on the substrate type and the relationship between mangrove density and substrate texture in Borimasunggu Village, Labakang District. This research was carried out from July to August 2021 in the Borimasunggu Village, Labakkang District, Pangkep Regency. The research method is purposive random sampling which is divided into 3 stages. At each station, 3 transects/plots are determined. The study results found 3 mangrove species in Borimasunggu Village, Labakang District, based on the type of substrate, namely Rhizophora stylosa, Avicennia alba, and Sonneratia alba species. Relative Frequency (RFi) in Borimasunggu Sub-District, Labakang District, was found for all species equally, namely 33.33, the highest relative cover (RCi) was the species Rhizophora stylosa, which was 39.25, and the lowest Relative Coverage (RCi) was the mangrove species Sonneratia alba, which was 26,15. While the highest Significance Value (INP) is the mangrove species Rhizophora stylosa, which equals 148.66%, and the lowest Important Value (INP) is the mangrove species Sonneratia alba, which is equal to 70.59%. The highest relative density (RDi) was found in the mangrove species Rhizophora stylosa, which was 74.07% with a clay substrate type, followed by Avicennia alba 14.81% and Sonneratia alba 11.11% with a dusty clay substrate types.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between oceanographic factors and the catch of tuna (Euthynnus affinis) and to determine the potential fishing zone (ZPPI) in the waters of the Gulf of Bone. The data collection method is carried out by literature study and field observation study by taking coordinate points and measuring oceanographic parameters. The types of data collected were temperature, salinity, currents, and tuna catches. Data were analyzed using GIS software with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and ANOVA test. This research was conducted in Bone Bay Waters in October-November 2018. The results showed that the highest catch based on sea surface temperature was in the range of 32°C with a total yield of 1207.5 kg, the highest net based on salinity was in the field of 34‰, namely as much as 836.5 kg, and the highest catch is based on a current speed of 0.04 m/sec, which is as much as 334.5 kg. Based on the ANOVA table, the significance value of the effect of temperature (X1), salinity (X2), and current (X3) simultaneously on the tuna catch (Y) is 0.0425<0.05 and the Fcrit>Ftabel (5.960>4,75) which means that there is a significant effect of oceanographic parameters on the tuna catch. Overlay analysis of oceanographic parameters shows potential areas for Euthynnus affinis is located most of the waters of Sinjai to the south of the Sembilan Island to the outside of Bone Bay.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine fishermen's income using hand line fishing gear in Banawa Village using primary data for 50 respondents representing the entire population of the Fisherman Community in Banawa Village. Data collection was carried out using interviews and documentation methods. The analytical method used is descriptive quantitative. The collected data is processed and presented in tabular form. The study results show that the fishing community in Kampung Banawa still needs a higher understanding of knowledge and technology. This has not reduced the enthusiasm of fishermen in Kampung Banawa to go to sea actively, even though the price of fish in the market could be better. There are differences between hand-line fishermen based on the boat used. Hand line fishermen with rowing boats earn Rp.70,000/week, hand line fishermen using ketinting engine boats Rp.120,000/week, and hand line fishermen using 15PK outboard motors make Rp.200,000/week. Institutions supporting fishermen's income include Fishery Cooperatives, Banking (BNI), and fish markets.

Abstract

Makassar City is one of the cities in Indonesia, with a large population and rapid economic activity with office buildings, settlements, industry, ports and other facilities such as trade, entertainment and tourism centres. This has attracted attention due to the need for more land to support the growth and development of the City area. One way to create new space in beach reclamation. The local government utilizes the coastal area to carry out various activities. One of the areas adjacent to Makassar City, which is used as mining for reclamation, is North Galesong District, Takalar Regency. Dredging sand for reclamation creates social conflict for the people of North Galesong. Excessive and uncontrolled use of sea sand can damage its carrying capacity. In addition to environmental impacts, socio-economic impacts are a significant problem in areas affected by sand mining and carried out by business people and the government in supporting the development of the Center Point of Indonesia CPI and New Port. Responding to these problems, this study aims to analyze the impact of sea sand mining on the socio-economic community of Aeng Batu-Batu Village, North Galesong District, Takalar Regency. The research method used is a case study investigating various phenomena. The population in this study is related to and directly impacts sea sand mining with a sampling technique, namely Non Purposive Sampling. The survey results show that sand mining activities in Aeng Batu Batu Village, North Galesong District, Takalar Regency have a socio-economic impact on the local community, which has a very significant impact on the conditions before and after sea sand mining activities. These impacts are: 1) Disturbing the activities of small fishermen, namely by the back and forth and the activities of sea sand mining companies. 2) Reducing the catch of fishing line and gill net fishermen by up to 80%. 3) Disturbing fishing operations, namely by disturbing the target habitat of fishermen. 4) Disturbing the fishing area so that the fishing ground changes, which results in increased operational costs.

Based on this, a marketing chain and marketing strategy are needed, which are required by MSMEs, especially Ornamental Fish Businesses in Makassar City. The research method used is a case study with data collection techniques, namely surveys, to investigate various phenomena. The population in this study were freshwater ornamental fish traders in Makassar City, with a sample of 20 people, both key informants and additional informants. The study results show that the ornamental fish marketing chain system in Makassar City can start from producers/cultivators to collectors and then to diluents, and finally to consumers. The marketing strategy for ornamental fish in Makassar is seen from the marketing chain combined with the application of technology by utilizing social media in the marketing process and traditional marketing.
