Abstract

Masyarakat Ekonomi Asean (MEA) mulai diterapkan. Dengan diterapkannya MEA, arus produk ekonomis, informasi, dan perdagangan akan masuk dengan cepat tiada batas. Indonesia diharapkan mampu menyiapkan sumber daya manusia yang ada. Modal utama yang dimiliki Indonesia adalah bahasa. Bahasa Indonesia dinyatakan sebagai bahasa persatuan dan lambang identitas nasional. Sebagai bahasa persatuan dan lambang identitas nasional bahasa Indonesia berperan dapat mengembangkan ilmu pengatahuan dan budaya Indonesia untuk diketahui masyakarat luas, terutama masyarakat ASEAN. Fenomena ini mengakibatkan pentingnya bahasa Indonesia dalam masyarakat ekonomi ASEAN, khususnya dalam bidang perdagangan. Metode yang digunakan untuk melakukan penelaahan adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelaahan dilakukan dengan teknik analisis hermeneutik berdasarkan masalah. Hasil penelaahan membuktikan bahwa di era MEA bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa perdagangan  berperan untuk melakukan persuasif terhadap penjualan dan penawaran produk dan sebagai bahasa pengantar dalam melakukan teransaksi dan promosi. Kata Kunci: peran, bahasa Indonesia, perdagangan, Masyarakat Ekonomi Asean (MEA)

Abstract

This research was conducted aiming to an analysis of students’ ability in writing sequence of events based on “UP” movie by the third-year students at English Language Education Study Program of Universitas Islam Riau. This study was descriptive research and the method used in this research is the quantitative method with utilizing SPSS software to calculate the frequency, percentage, and mean score. The subject of this research were the students at the third year that consisted of 35 students and this research focused on five aspects of writing. In gathering the data, this research used Google form to collect the result writing test of the students. From the data analysis of 35 students who took the writing test, 4 students were in good to excellent level which the percentage is 11.4%. 27 students were in average to good level which the percentage is 77.1%. 4 students gain poor to average level with the percentage is 11.4% and no one of the students (0%) got poor level. Based on the researcher analysis from the result of the research, the highest score that most students could gain was in the vocabulary aspect with the mean score 3.68. Meanwhile, the lowest score that the students could gain was in fluency with the mean score 3.06. So, in this case, the researcher could interpret that the third-year students were on average to good level and able to write the sequence of events of the movie.

Abstract

Humanist literacy is an awareness of reading and understanding human phenomena that can be created through critical reading activities. Critical reading activities aim to reflect on the reading results so that they can make wise decisions on how to think and behave humanely. Decision-making skills need to be improved through critical reading learning with a humanist literacy approach. The problem so far is the unavailability of future learning designs by integrating humanist literacy through critical reading activities. Therefore, this study focuses on how to integrate humanist literacy in critical reading activities as an alternative direction for future language learning. The purpose of this study was to describe the grand design of integrating humanist literacy in critical reading activities as an alternative direction for future language learning. This research is a development research of one part of the development research procedure. The data for this study were sourced from the comments of lecturers and students from questionnaires distributed online. This research instrument was developed based on the concept of language learning, characteristics of humanist literacy, and characteristics of critical reading that have been validated. Data analysis was carried out critically reflectively by using tagCrow and AntCont applications. The results of the study prove that the grand design of integrating humanist literacy in critical reading activities can be carried out through communicating humanist literacy, collaborating humanist literacy, and humanist critical thinking with sub-skills of analyzing, interpreting, inferring, evaluating, explaining, and regulating oneself in a humanistic manner to make decisions. wisely according to the principles of humanistic life.

Abstract

Guru yang kerap memberikan penilaian tanpa rubrik penilaian yang jelas perlu diberikan pelatihan. Maka dari itu, pelatihan ini dikhususkan untuk melatih guru-guru MGMP Bahasa Indonesia se-Kota Pekanbaru dalam membuat rubrik penilaian berdasarkan KD yang ada. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode ceramah, tutorial, dan praktik. Dapat dilihat dalam pelatihan ini bahwa guru memiliki beberapa kendala terkait penilaian yang banyak, format yang begitu rumit, dan ditambah lagi waktu yang terbatas untuk penyusunan serta pelaksanaan penilaian berbasis kompetensi yang menyebabkan guru kewalahan ketika memberikan penilaian kepada peserta didik. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, sangatlah penting untuk melaksanakan pelatihan-pelatihan terkait proses asesmen secara umum dan pembuatan rubrik penilaian materi sastra secara khusus untuk guru-guru SMA. Manfaat pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah membantu guru-guru SMA MGMP Bahasa Indonesia se-Kota Pekanbaru dalam meningkatkan kemampuan penilaian pembelajaran sastra.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the characteristics of teaching materials for critical reading of Tunjuk Ajar Melayu texts that link the humanist literacy desired by lecturers and students in Riau Province, Indonesia. This research is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research data are in the form of questionnaires and interviews from research respondents. The respondents of this study involved lecturers and students in Riau Province. Data validation is done by triangulation of sources and methods. Furthermore, data analysis was carried out reflectively with the help of TagCrowd and AntCont. Based on the study that has been carried out, it is found that the characteristics of critical reading teaching materials desired by students and lecturers in Riau Province include, (1) teaching materials must be oriented towards humanist literacy activities, (2) use the Tunjuk Ajar Melayu text, (3) be oriented towards an attitude approach. and behavior (psychodidactic), (4) has material that is in accordance with the characteristics of Malay culture, (5) has language that is in line with the context of Malay language and culture, and (6) presentation uses Malay icons which are arranged in detail and systematically. The implications of the results of this study can be to construct and conserve critical reading learning and critical reading teaching materials for the Tunjuk Ajar Melayu text to create student understanding in understanding and integrating humanist values in everyday life. Humanist awareness is important to be formed in facing the challenges of language learning in the millennial era.

Abstract

Kegiatan belajar tidak cukup dilaksanakan secara adminstratif saja. Peserta didik harus berusaha dengan baik agar mendapatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman yang memadai agar siap dalam menghadapi perkembangan global. Kondisi ini menuntut peserta didik membe membekali diri dengan baik agar bisa mengikuti perkembangan yang ada. Jika bagian dasar ini sudah gagal, maka dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap aktivitas atau kegiatan berikutnya. Untuk itu, peserta didik harus berpikir kritis agar bisa menggali berbagai informasi secara maksimal. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap aktivitas eksplorasi peserta didik dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif. Pengamatan ini sebagai bentuk manifistasi kegiatan pembelajaran jarah jauh (daring). Instrumen pengumpulan data dengan berupa angket skala dengan 73 orang. Secara keseluruhan aktivitas eksplorasi berada pada rata-rata 4,065 dengan kategori sangat tinggi dan tingkat signifikansi 0,879 dengan kategori sangat kuat. Data ini memperlihatkan betapa pentingnya tindakan eksplorasi informasi dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Semua aktivitas eksplorasi sangat membantu dalam merangsang kognisi dan psikomotor peserta didik sehingga dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman belajar.

Abstract

Writing scientific articles is closely related to the references used. The arrangement of references in a scientific article indicates that the article is written based on relevant sources. The current problem faced by teachers in writing scientific articles is the inability to manage references using Mendeley. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct reference management training using Mendeley in writing scientific articles. This activity aims to make it easier for teachers to do citations from various existing reference sources. The activity was carried out for MGMP SMP Negeri Pekanbaru. Participants in this training amounted to 25 teachers spread throughout the city of Pekanbaru. The training method used is in the form of guided guidance. Based on the results and discussion of the activities carried out, it can be concluded that the reference management training using the Mendeley application to write scientific articles for MGMP SMP Negeri Pekanbaru is very effective. The effectiveness of this activity is due to an increase in intelligence in more specific aspects, such as increasing participants' understanding and skills in managing references using the Mendeley application. With Mendeley, teachers can streamline and document several reference sources easily. In addition, Mendeley is also very helpful for teachers in writing scientific articles to be published in the Open Journal System (OJS). Overall, it can be stated that this activity plays an important role for teachers because it can effectively improve the professional competence of teachers in facing future challenges.

Abstract

As a result of the Covid-19 epidemic, educators in Indonesia have had experience dealing with synchronous learning, which has challenged them to select an interesting and engaging method, strategy, or tool to aid the teaching and learning process. Padlet was eventually chosen as the solution to this study. Padlet is a virtual wall that is used to build students' interest in learning English, specifically writing. In this study, the researchers used a descriptive quantitative research design with a sample of 96 students to assess their perceptions of using Padlet as a virtual wall. Numerous factors such as utility, knowledge, engagement, enjoyment, motivation, and ease of use were determined through a questionnaire-based survey which was then distributed as benefits and drawbacks of using Padlet. According to the findings, the students agreed that Padlet provided several benefits to their learning process. On the other hand, students disagreed with Padlet's disadvantages. Therefore, the result implied that the expectation to enhance knowledge is the major factor influencing students’ perceptions of the Padlet utilization in synchronous learning

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Eufemisme merupakan bentuk ungkapan untuk memperhalus kata-kata yang dirasa kasar atau tidak pantas diucapkan atau didengar oleh orang lain. Eufemisme sangat erat hubungannya dengan bahasa yang ada pada setiap kehidupan manusia dan telah menjadi tata krama atau kesantunan dalam berbahasa. Eufemisme ini juga sering kita jumpai dalam berbagai media massa salah satunya yaitu surat kabar. Rumusan masalah penelitian ini, yaitu Bagaimanakah eufemisme dalam editorial surat kabar harian Tribun Pekanbaru: kajian studi semantik? Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu teori-teori yang berhubungan dengan eufemisme dalam bentuk metafora. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan, menganalisis, menginterpretasi, dan menyimpulkan eufemisme yang terdapat dalam editorial surat kabar harian Tribun Pekanbaru: kajian studi semantik. Manfaat penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menambah pengetahuan pembaca mengenai kajian semantik terutama pada aspek eufemisme bentuk metafora. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu deskriptif. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh peneliti, yaitu dari 23 editorial dalam surat kabar Tribun Pekanbaru edisi September 2020 peneliti menemukan 14 data eufemisme kajian semantik.KATA KUNCI: Eufemisme;  Kesantunan Berbahasa; Tribun Pekanbaru;  Editorial. EUFEMISM IN THE EDITORIAL OF THE NEWSPAPER, TRIBUNPEKANBARU ABSTRACT: Euphemism is a form of expression to soften words that are considered rude or inappropriate to be spoken or heard by others. Euphemisms are closely related to language that exists in every human life and have become manners or politeness in language. This euphemism is also often encountered in various mass media, one of which is newspapers. The formulation of the research problem, namely How are euphemisms in the editorial of the Pekanbaru daily newspaper Tribune: the study of semantic studies? The theories used in this research are theories related to euphemisms in the form of metaphors. This research uses a descriptive method. This study was conducted with the aim of describing, analyzing, interpreting, and concluding the euphemisms contained in the editorial of the Pekanbaru daily newspaper Tribune: a study of semantics. The benefits of this research are expected to increase the reader's knowledge about semantic studies, especially in the euphemism aspect of metaphorical forms. The method used in this research is descriptive. The results of the research obtained by the researcher, namely from 23 editorials in the September 2020 edition of the newspaper Tribun Pekanbaru, the researchers found 14 data on euphemisms for semantic studies.KEYWORDS: Euphemism; Language Politeness; Pekanbaru Tribune; Editorial.

Abstract

The transmission of covid-19 has challenged the English lecturer to transform the offline learning to entirely online learning. In managing the classroom virtualy, the lecturer utilized learning management system. Hence, this research aimed to figure outthe students’ perception of using the Learning Management System during the COVID-19 Pandemic at second year students of English Language Education FKIP UIR. The Learning Management Systems that used in this research are limited in using of Google Classroom and CERDAS. The indicator of students’ perception to the Learning Management Systems in this research are Usefulness, Ease of Use, Ease of Learning, and Satisfaction. This research usedthe Quantitative method to analyze the data. To collect the data, the reesearchers usedquestionnaire as the instrument of this research. In analyzing the data, the researchers employed the assessment scale. The results for all indicators categorized ‘agree’. Consequently, the study can be implied that the learning and teaching process through LMS can be accessible and useable
