Abstract

The process of producing starch film using the casting method required a significant amount of time to obtain the desired film product. Therefore, this study was conducted to reduce the production time required for the starch film. The study used five varieties of starch: bengkoang starch, talas starch, glutinous rice flour, wheat flour, and MOCAF flour. The process involved homogenizing the starch and glycerol mixture utilizing a stirrer, followed by heating using a microwave and a compression process to accelerate the evaporation of water in the starch film. For the final drying stage, samples that had gone through this process were dried using a cabinet dryer. The result showed that the developed method of starch film requires only 60 minutes of the time needed compared to conventional casting method, which usually takes 5-48 hours. Furthermore, it was observed that starch film production using glutinous rice flour resulted in the highest tensile strength.

Abstract

One of the factors hindering the development of upland rice cultivation among annual crops is the limited number of shade-tolerant upland rice varieties. It is very important to assemble shade-tolerant upland rice varieties with high yields. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of shade on the growth and productivity of five genotypes of upland rice. This research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, the Islamic University of North Sumatra with an altitude of 25 m above sea level, from June to December 2020. The research design was split-plot and repeated three times. The main plot of shade treatment consisted of two levels, namely no shade (0%) and shade treatment (70%). The sub-plots were five genotypes of upland rice in Deli Serdang and two shade-tolerant varieties. Shade treatment affected the growth and productivity of five genotypes of upland rice in Deli Serdang District (Sialus, Arias, Ramos Merah, Silayur, and Sirabut) and two shade-tolerant varieties (Rindang 1 and 2). Two genotypes of upland rice were obtained, namely Silayur and Sirabut which were more shade tolerant, based on flowering age, harvest age, and grain weight per clump. When compared with Rindang 1 and 2 varieties, the two genotypes of upland rice were the same or more tolerant.

Abstract

An experiment has been set in a completely randomized design to determine the best concentration of liquid organic fertilizer of peels of ‘kepok’ banana to increase the growth and yield of strawberry. The experiment was conducted at Nagari Koto Baru Simalanggang, Payakumbuh, the Regency of Lima Puluh Kota, West Sumatra from April to August 2019. The place lies at elevation about 540 m above sea level. Treatments were concentrations of liquid organic fertilizer of banana peels (0; 5; 10; 15; and 20%) and replicated three times. Data were analysed with analysis of variance and mean separation of Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5%. Results demonstrated that 10% of liquid organic fertilizer of banana peels increased the growth of strawberry plants and shortened the time to flowering

Abstract

Abstrak – Pengelolaan data kepegawaian yang masih dilakukan dengan cara manual di Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Andalas sering menimbulkan berbagai permasalahan seperti duplikasi data, keterlambatan penyajian informasi dan kesulitan dalam penyusunan laporan sehingga menurunkan efisiensi administrasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengimplementasikan Sistem Informasi Manajemen Kepegawaian (FapertaHR) berbasis web yang mampu mengintegrasikan seluruh data pegawai ke dalam satu platform digital. Sistem dikembangkan menggunakan framework Laravel dan basis data MySQL dengan pendekatan Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM) melalui tahapan identifikasi masalah, perumusan tujuan, perancangan, pengembangan, demonstrasi, evaluasi dan komunikasi. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa sistem mampu meningkatkan efisiensi pencarian data pegawai sebesar 75% dengan tingkat akurasi 92%, serta memperoleh skor kepuasan pengguna rata-rata sebesar 4,6 dari skala 5. Temuan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa FapertaHR telah berfungsi secara efektif dan mendukung prinsip transparansi serta akuntabilitas dalam tata kelola administrasi publik. Penelitian ini akan dilanjutkan dengan pengembangan modul absensi dan cuti pegawai untuk memperluas fungsionalitas sistem dalam mendukung digitalisasi administrasi kepegawaian.Kata Kunci: Sistem Informasi; Manajemen Kepegawaian; Laravel; MySQL; Administrasi Publik; Abstract – Manual human resource data handling at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Andalas often results in various problems such as data duplication and prolong time in information presentation causing difficulties in preparing reports and lower administrative efficiency. This research is aimed at designing and constructing a web-based information system on human resource management (FapertaHR) that integrates all data on human resources in single digital platform. The system has been developed using Laravel framework and MySQL data base with design science research methodology (DSRM) approach through the following stages: problem identification, formulation of goals, designing, developing, demonstration, evaluation, and communication. The implementation results demonstrated that the system increased 75% of time efficiency in human resource data searching with 92% of accuracy. Moreover, the user satisfaction score is 4.6 on a scale of 5. This system strongly supports transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public administration governance within the university. This research will be designed to develop the staff presence and paid leave to enhance the system capabilities to support a digital transformation in human resource administration.Keywords: information system; human resource management; Laravel; MySQL; public administration;

Abstract

Weeds are a significant constraint to crop production as they compete for vital resources and release allelochemicals that may hinder the growth of surrounding plants. This study investigated the allelopathic effects of plant litter from Kyllinga brevifolia, Eleusine indica, and Sphagneticola trilobata on the germination and early development of Lactuca sativa. Two bioassays were conducted: a sandwich method in the laboratory and a pot experiment in a greenhouse. Dried weed residues were applied at concentrations of 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% to evaluate their impact on seed germination, root and shoot elongation, and biomass accumulation in lettuce. The results showed that all three species inhibited seed germination and seedling growth in a concentration-dependent manner. In the sandwich assay, germination rates at 4% residue concentration declined to 58.89% (K. brevifolia), 76.67% (E. indica), and 46.67% (S. trilobata), compared to 96.67% in the control. The strongest inhibition of radicle growth was observed in K. brevifolia (91.60%). In the pot experiment, both K. brevifolia and S. trilobata consistently reduced all measured growth parameters. At 4%, shoot length declined to 9.18 mm and 5.42 mm, and dry shoot weight decreased to 2.90 mg and 3.09 mg, respectively. In contrast, E. indica slightly increased shoot biomass at moderate concentrations, suggesting a potential stimulatory effect. These findings demonstrate that residues from these weeds possess strong allelopathic potential and could be explored as natural agents for environmentally friendly weed management.

Abstract

Kedelai sebagai salah satu komoditas penting yang berperan dalam pemenuhan bahan pangan dan pakan sebagai sumber protein dan lemak nabati. Penyediaan benih berkualitas baik menjadi salah satu kunci penting dalam upaya meningkatkan produksi kedelai. Perbaikan kualitas benih kedelai dapat dicapai dengan pemberian sari buah nanas berdasarkan reaksi hidrolisis antara enzim bromelin dan protein kedelai. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi sari buah nanas terbaik yang dapat digunakan untuk invigorasi benih kedelai. Percobaan dilaksanakan pada bulan April sampai Juli 2025 di Laboratorium Teknologi Benih Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Andalas Padang. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan lima konsentrasi sari buah nanas yaitu 0, 25, 50, 75, dan 100% dengan empat ulangan. Benih kedelai direndam selama 3 jam dalam larutan sari buah nanas sebelum dilakukan uji perkecambahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian sari buah nanas sebagai organic priming dapat meningkatkan persentase daya berkecambah, perkecambahan pada hari hitung pertama, potensi tumbuh maksimum, nilai indeks perkecambahan, bobot kering kecambah normal, dan pertumbuhan akar kecambah. Priming menggunakan konsentrasi 50% sari buah nanas menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada persentase daya berkecambah, perkecambahan pada hari hitung pertama, potensi tumbuh maksimum, dan nilai indeks perkecambahan benih.
