Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the impact of women's empowerment on female labor force participation in ASEAN countries. Women's empowerment is measured through variables such as education, health, wages, parliamentary representation, fertility rates, and maternal mortality rates.Method: This research employs a panel data approach by applying the Random Effects Model (REM) across 10 ASEAN member countries. Socio-economic and demographic indicators are integrated to assess the extent to which these variables influence female labor force participation.Result: Research findings indicate that education, access to healthcare services, and low maternal mortality rates positively contribute to increasing women's labor force participation. Conversely, factors such as low wage levels, limited female representation in parliament, and high fertility rates serve as barriers.Practical Implications for Economic Growth and Development: This study identifies key factors influencing female labor force participation and provides strategic recommendations for policymakers in the ASEAN region. Improving women's access to education and healthcare services is expected to foster inclusive development, reduce gender disparities, and strengthen the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of gender equality and decent work.Originality/Value: This study makes a novel contribution by incorporating rarely discussed variables such as maternal mortality rates and fertility levels in a region characterized by diverse socio-economic conditions. It offers deeper insights into the driving forces behind female labor force participation in ASEAN countries.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the influence of socio-economic factors on white-collar crime in Indonesia, data taken from 34 provinces during 2017–2023. Using quantitative data taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Indonesia. This study uses quantitative analysis through panel data regression, where the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was selected as the best method after testing with the Chow and Hausman tests. The study findings indicate three main results: first, there is a significant negative relationship between the unemployment rate and white-collar crime; second, a significant positive relationship was found between GRDP per capita and the white-collar crime rate; third, the average length of schooling and the Gini ratio were found to be insignificant with white-collar crime. The findings illustrate that increased economic activity can increase the chances of white-collar crime, while high unemployment actually reduces access to strategic positions that allow for such crimes. The implications of these results emphasize the importance of good supervision and governance in preventing misuse of economic resources along with economic growth.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia has a very wide water area, making it one of the countries with great potential in developing the fisheries industry, especially in leading commodities such as lobster. This study was conducted to examine various factors that impact the value of Indonesian lobster exports to six major trading partner countries, namely China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea throughout 2018 to 2023. This study uses several independent variables including lobster prices, consumption tastes (Ratio), GDP per capita of destination countries, export value (FOB), export quantity, and economic distance. This study uses a quantitative approach by utilizing secondary data in the form of panel data, consisting of a time series from 2018 to 2023 and cross-country data for six export destination countries. Information was obtained from official sources such as BPS, Trade Economic, World Bank, and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). Based on the results of the analysis, the Common Effect Model (CEM) approach was identified as the most appropriate model in this study compared to other approaches. The results of the F test show that all independent variables have a significant influence on the value of Indonesian lobster exports, both simultaneously and partially. The determination value (R²) of 65.94% indicates that the regression model is able to explain most of the variation in the value of lobster export trade. The results of this study play a significant role in supporting the formulation of policies to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian fishery exports in the international market.

Abstract

The Independent Entrepreneurship Program is one of the strategic efforts of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of students through direct experiential learning. This program is present as a forum for students to not only understand entrepreneurship theory, but also to practice in real life the process of building and managing a business. In its implementation, the program involves active collaboration between universities, industry mentors, and field supervisors who play a role in providing direction, guidance, and evaluation of student business development. Through Independent Entrepreneurship, students are given the opportunity to design creative business ideas, run a business on a real scale, and solve various entrepreneurial challenges they face. This activity not only trains managerial, communication, and innovation skills, but also improves critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In addition, students gain valuable experience in terms of teamwork, financial management, marketing strategies, building business networks, and the use of digital technology to support business sustainability. The results of the program implementation show positive impacts, including increased confidence, independence, and students' understanding of the real business world. Furthermore, this program encourages the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem in a sustainable campus environment and is able to be the forerunner of the birth of a young generation of Indonesian entrepreneurs who are resilient, innovative, creative, adaptive to changing times, and have high competitiveness. Thus, Independent Entrepreneurship not only plays a role as a skill development program, but also becomes one of the important foundations in preparing students to face the world of work and becoming independent business actors who are professional, visionary, sustainability-oriented, and make a real contribution to the nation's economic development.

Abstract

Climate change is a major issue since it is intimately linked to economic activities that influence the rate of economic growth. The reason for this research is that climate concerns are worsening and affecting economic sectors all over the world, particularly in Asia (Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Japan, and China) and Europe (Norway, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine, and Italy). This is what will have an impact on future economic activity. As a result, it will slow the country's economic growth. Based on this occurrence, researchers wish to know the influence of climate change with indicators of increasing earth temperature, carbon dioxide (𝑶𝑂 2), methane (𝑶𝑻 4), and average rainfall on agricultural, fisheries, and forestry sectors simultaneously or separately. The impact of rising global temperatures, CO2 levels, methane levels, and average rainfall on economic growth. The Quantitative Method was utilized in this study, with data obtained from a second party (secondary) in the form of panel data processed using Eviews9 software. This study used the causal step technique, which involves employing mediating factors to construct a regression equation. The causal step technique is based on three regression equations for mediating variables, which can be stated as perfect mediation or partial mediation. Abstract

Household organic waste has emerged as a major environmental issue in Dibal Village, Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency, since most vegetable, fruit, and leaf residues are simply discarded, causing unpleasant odors and environmental pollution. This challenge is even more pronounced given that among the 74 active members of the “Sekarwangi” PKK women’s group, 27 work as vegetable farmers and market vendors, making them the primary contributors of organic waste in the form of unsold vegetables and fruits. Paradoxically, such waste holds significant potential to be transformed into liquid organic fertilizer (POC), which is both beneficial for home gardening and economically valuable. This community engagement program was designed to provide practical solutions through technical training, the distribution of anaerobic composters, and continuous mentoring for all PKK members. The implementation consisted of five stages: socialization, hands-on training in POC production using bio-activators, distribution of 74 composting units, weekly fermentation monitoring, and evaluation through product trials and satisfaction surveys. The program demonstrated a remarkable behavioral transformation: from merely discarding waste to actively converting it into valuable products. By the reporting period, three harvest cycles had been completed, yielding a total of approximately 124 liters of POC (equivalent to 8 Le Minerale gallons)—far exceeding the initial target of 50 packages. When converted into commercial packaging, the production amounts to 496 bottles of 250 ml (priced at IDR 10,000, potential revenue IDR 4,960,000) or 248 bottles of 500 ml (priced at IDR 20,000, with the same value). Part of the POC has been utilized for household gardening, while the remainder is ready for commercialization as a community product. This program has proven effective in reducing organic waste, fostering awareness of the green economy, and strengthening the community’s economic independence. Recommendations for future action include product and packaging standardization, enhancement of digital marketing strategies, and market expansion through local bazaars or agricultural partnerships to ensure that the economic potential can be sustainably realized, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
