Abstract

The shame belongs to negative emotions, which in many psychological studies are associated with negative behaviors. The discomfort that a person experiences when he feels shame is associated with the emergence of negative behavior. Indonesians, especially people in Pekanbaru City who are closely attached to the teachings of Islam, view Shame as a more positive. Feeling uncomfortable will make people control their behavior and avoid shameful behavior. This study investigated the correlation between shame-proneness and Customer Oriented-Organizational Citizenship Behavior (CO-OCB) on 331 civil servants from 15 Pekanbaru government instances randomly selected. Result suggest that shame-proneness has a positive relationship with CO-OCB (r = 233, p = 0.00). Compared to felt-shame, the dimension of anticipatory shame has a higher correlation coefficient with CO-OCB and its dimensions (helping behavior, sportsmanship, organization loyalty, organization compliance, individual initiative, and civic virtue) except self-development. Civil servants need to internalize the shame to violate the rules so that they tend to act according to the rules and provide the best for the organization in which they work.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Counterproductive work behavior is often associated with work stress, which tends to be more easily experienced by employees with certain personalities. This study aims to see the relationship between personality and counterproductive work behavior mediated by work stress. The subjects of the study were 147 employees in the Pekanbaru government offices. Data were collected using the IPIP-BFM-50 Scale, the Counterproductive Work Behavior Checklist for counterproductive behavior and the work stress scale. Based on the path analysis test with the JASP 0.18.3 program, it is known that work stress fully mediates the effect of extraversion on counterproductive work behavior and partially mediates the effect of neuroticism on counterproductive work behavior. While agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to change were not related to counterproductive work behavior. This finding can provide an overview for human resource management to consider personality in employees placing in certain types and conditions of work stress to prevent counterproductive behavior. In addition, management can also determine the right program to manage work stress so as to minimize counterproductive behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to adapt and validate the psychological well-being scale. The adaptation process involved translation, synthesis, and backward translation by Beaton et al. (2000). This instrument refers to the Psychological Well-Being Scale by Ryff (1989). The test of item distinctiveness using Corrected Item-Total Correlation analysis showed most items had significant correlations (p < 0.25), reflecting the instrument's ability to measure the relevant constructs. The reliability test yielded a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.703, indicating adequate internal consistency. These results indicate that the instruments are valid and reliable for use in further research. The findings also provide insight into the importance of the psychological well-being of honorary teachers who face challenges such as low salaries and high workloads. The instrument is expected to help explore the factors that influence various matters related to honorary teachers' psychological well-being.
