Abstract

Today, the role of women is increasingly broad, showing their almost equal power with men. Many women have the profession of qari'ah, preacher, lecturer, newsreader and some even become state officials. Women in this profession must raise their voices, and it is permissible to be heard by those who are not mahrams, with the condition that they do not cause slander, are not chanted or made to lull by the explanation of three hadiths in Sahih Bukhari. This study uses the library research. The results of this study concluded that women's voices are allowed to speak or be heard by the opposite sex on condition that they do not contain lust, and there are characteristics of wasathiyah related to two hadiths of women's voices.

Abstract

Frye's Critical Theory in Understanding the Hadith of Prayer Commands in Banī Quraizah in the Hadith Compilation BookThe discussion on the understanding of hadith in the two textual and contextual camps is very broad, but has not yet touched on the object of the hadith compilation books. The compilation of hadiths can be seen not only as a work that collects the hadiths of the Prophet, but also as a pattern of understanding hadiths by looking at the pattern of placement of the hadiths of the Prophet in certain chapters that the authors of the hadith compilations deem appropriate based on the text or context. This article discusses the hadith of the Prophet prohibiting his companions from praying, unless they have arrived in the Banī Quraiza area from the aspect of the companions' understanding of this Prophet's order, some of them pray at Bani Quraiza according to the Prophet's orders and some of them pray on the way for fear of delays in time. This article uses Frye's theory with centripetal, centrifugal, and literary myth meanings which are used to analyze the reading/understanding of the text with a focus on the near or far point of the text, as well as the meanings conveyed by the hadith compilers in Tabwīb hadis. With the Frye’s theory approach, it can be emphasized that the hadith compilers have made efforts to understand the hadith with the Tabwīb of this hadith in different chapters. Al-Bukhārī, Muslim, Ibn Ḥibbān, al-Bagawī, al-Ṭabrānī, al-Baihaqī, Abū Yaʻlā, Abū 'Awwānah, 'Abd al-Razzāq, and al-Ḥākim wrote this hadith on an unrelated discussion or theme (Tabwīb) on the understanding of the companions of the Prophet's orders. Muslim and Ibn Ḥibbān place this hadith on the discussion of the companions' obedience to the Prophet's orders, while al-Baihaqī and Abū 'Awwānah place this hadith on the contextual understanding of the companions of the Prophet's orders by considering the provisions of prayer times.

Abstract

This paper strengthens the research of Shittu and Adebolu (2016) confirming that Arabic language science: semantics, naḥw-ṣarf, and balāghah has an important role in understanding ḥadīth. In addition, this research also strengthens Asmaʿ al-Khatab and Ali Younis affirming that the Arabic style of ḥadīth in terms of balāghah can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the historical facts of ḥadīth and the substance of ḥadīth teachings. In particular, this research concludes that Muhajirin Amsar (d. 2003) as one of the Indonesian ḥadīth experts has a deep concern about understanding ḥadīth with a language approach. This is proven by the study of semantics, naḥw-ṣarf, and balāghah in the Miṣbāḥ al-Ẓalām as a work that explains the legal ḥadīth of Islamic law.

Abstract

The interaction and exchange between local culture and Islamic culture dominate in influencing the social system. This research aims to explore the perspective of Hadith on the Gerudo and Topeng celebrations in Jambi. This research relies on an analytical descriptive method based on collecting library data from various paper and electronic sources and field data through observation and interviews. The researcher then used thematic methods in the takhrīj of hadith, involving the search for hadiths based on sentences related to the topic. In analyzing hadith texts, the researcher has employed a contextual method with comparison approach and has compared them with the opinions of ‘ulamā’ who are both supportive and critical of these approaches. The key finding of this research is that the taṣwīr prohibited by the Prophet Muhammad refers to taṣwīr that contains an 'illah or reason for its prohibition. This prohibition applies to taṣwīr used as a rival to Allah's creation, for worship, or due to elements in its form that contradict Islam. Therefore, Gerudo and Topeng are not considered prohibited taṣwīr because current practices no longer embody the reasons for their prohibition.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the form of religious tolerance values in the documentary film 'Pesantren' which was released in 2022. This film is interesting because it reveals the educational side of religious tolerance in Indonesia, which shows another side of pesantren, which is considered by some to be a hotbed of indoctrination of radical and fundamental religious views. Through descriptive qualitative method, this article focuses on the value of religious tolerance in the film presented through verbal and non-verbal signs. The data is analyzed using John Fiske's semiotic theory that explains the codes of television, namely the level of reality, the level of representation and the level of ideology. This theory is useful to reveal the meaning behind each scene. This article shows that in the film Pesantren, the value of tolerance is more dominant after reading the ideology stage. The value of tolerance in the film is present in the frame of inter and intra-religious tolerance. The value is instilled in three major narratives, namely: respecting differences of opinion, avoiding fanaticism because God's love is also unlimited, preaching with good words and staying away from discrimination against people of different beliefs.

Abstract

Fathul Qorib is the main reference for Islamic law studies in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren) because this book has a historical scientific heritage from the classical period of Islam. Indonesian Pesantrens have different characteristics in reading and learning Fathul Qorib based on conditions that develop and occur in the surrounding area. This paper uses the observation method by observing and interviewing students, ustadz/teachers, and kiai to trace patterns of knowledge transmission. The object of this research is Pesantren YAPINK and Attaqwa located in Bekasi district with two different types of Pesantren in terms of religious ideological background and the early history of the establishment of the Islamic boarding school. From the results of the research conducted, the reading of Fathul Qorib at the Pesantren YAPINK and Attaqwa has similarities and differences. The transmission of knowledge at YAPINK comes from internal and external sources because the teachers of the Fathul Qorib are graduated of YAPINK and other Pesantren such as Ploso Kediri and Sarang, while Attaqwa comes from internal-only because all Fathul Qorib teachers are from Attaqwa graduated.

Abstract

Tolerance and accommodativeness to local culture among students in Ma'had 'Aly is very good and has a significant impact on proving the attitude of religious moderation. This can be seen from the loading factor value of the tolerance dimension with a value of (0.815) and the Local Culture Accommodative dimension (0.603). If the level of tolerance and accommodativeness to local culture is calculated to measure the level of religious moderation of students, then the views of students regarding religious moderation are on a scale of 73.42, which means they are in the moderate category. The sampling method used in this research is the method of purposive sampling and quota sampling. The purposive sampling method was used in the selection of three Ma'had Alys, namely Ma'had al-Jami'ah UIN Jakarta, Darus-Sunnah International Institute for Hadith Sciences, and Pesantren Luhur Sabilussalam. While the Quota Sampling method is used in the distribution of student selection samples. The number of samples used in this study were 120 students. The objects of this research are students who are spread across three Ma'had Alys, namely: Ma'had al-Jami'ah UIN Jakarta, Darus-Sunnah, and Pesantren Luhur Sabilussalam.

Abstract

The fatwas of Majlis Ulama Indonesia often incite controversy among Indonesian Muslims. This includes a fatwa on the prohibition of golongan putih (golput; non-voting behavior) that was issued in 2009. This fatwa sparkes heated debates among netizens, inluding Twitter users during the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections. This data required for this research were collected from the Twitter in the form of tweets in several months in 2014 using the python module, namely the twitter scraper which was then stored in the form of Comma Separated Values (CSV). Out of 2,491 tweets, 1,142 tweets or 45.84% contain neutral responses, 1,071 tweert or 42.95% contain negative responses, and 278 tweets or 11.16 % contain positive responses. This figure shows that the rejection of the fatwa on the prohibition of golput was greater than its acceptance by netizens. More importantly, this indicate that the authority of MUI in issuing fatwas is not fully accepted and obeyed by Indonesian Muslims.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the concept of religious moderation and its indicators as formulated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, based on selected verses from the Qur’an and interpreted through the perspective of Tafsir Al-Munir. The research employs a descriptive-analytical method, in which the author gathers relevant Qur’anic verses and analyzes them using Tafsir Al-Munir as the primary source. Additional data are obtained from classical and contemporary tafsir literature, as well as other supporting scholarly works relevant to the topic. This study emphasizes the importance of balance in the lives of Muslims through the concept of wasathiyyah, national commitment, and the principle of tolerance. Violence and radicalism are considered threats to social harmony, while openness to local culture is encouraged as long as it remains in accordance with Islamic law. In conclusion, balance, tolerance, and appreciation of culture and nationalism are key to building a harmonious and religious society. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami moderasi agama secara umum dan indikator-indikatornya yang dirumuskan oleh Kementerian Agama RI berdasarkan ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an dan tafsir menurut perspektif Tafsir Al-Munir . Dalam penulisan penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis. Penulis mengumpulkan ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an yang terkait, kemudian menganalisisnya dengan menggunakan kitab Tafsir Al-Munir sebagai sumber utama. Sedangkan data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini dirujuk dari kitab-kitab tafsir dan buku-buku lain yang relevan dengan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya keseimbangan dalam kehidupan umat Islam melalui konsep wasathiyyah, komitmen kebangsaan, serta prinsip toleransi. Kekerasan dan radikalisme dianggap sebagai ancaman bagi harmoni sosial, sementara keterbukaan terhadap budaya lokal dianjurkan selama tetap sesuai dengan syariat Islam. Kesimpulannya, keseimbangan, toleransi, dan penghargaan terhadap budaya dan kebangsaan menjadi kunci dalam membangun masyarakat yang harmonis dan religius.

Abstract

Discourse of Women Inheritance: A Criticism to al-Qâsimi’s Social Exegesis in Mahâsin al-Ta’wil. This article examines the work of the 19th-century Damascus interpreter, al-Qasimi, in his book entitled Mahâsin al-Ta’wîl. The goal is to see whether there is a link between interpretation patterns of the figure with factors existing in his surrounding environment.. The focus of the study is emphasized on how al-Qasimi interprets verses dealing with certain social issues, especially with the differences in inheritance between men and women. This study concludes that the social condition factors significantly contributes to the formation of his interpretation.
