Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of social capital on community development, focusing on the role of university students in community service initiatives. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach and Path Analysis, the VOSviewer analysis highlights that key concepts related to social capital, such as "community participation," "social trust," and "network building," frequently appear in relevant literature. These findings underscore the importance of these three dimensions of social capital in fostering community development. The VOSviewer software generated a visual map illustrating the interconnectedness of various topics, emphasizing that social network development and trust are prominent themes frequently discussed by researchers in the context of community development. The findings indicate the critical role of strengthening social capital in supporting effective collaboration and the sustainability of development programs. Following the SLR, Path Analysis was conducted to examine the relationships among variables in the model. The results reveal that Network (path coefficient: 0.496, T-statistic: 3.308, P-value: 0.001) and Trust (path coefficient: 0.463, T-statistic: 3.769, P-value: 0.000) have a positive and significant influence on Community Development. Conversely, Value (path coefficient: 0.019, T-statistic: 0.155, P-value: 0.877) shows no significant effect. These findings highlight the significant contributions of social networks and trust to community development, while social values within networks do not exert a notable impact. Based on these results, it is recommended that community service programs led by university students prioritize strengthening social networks and trust while promoting active collaboration. Furthermore, developing inclusive approaches to enhance social values within networks is essential. Future research is encouraged to explore additional factors influencing community development and the role of social values in sustaining these programs.

Abstract

Abstract

This research reveals the phenomenon of Indonesian culture through the Widal Sukabumi language in Tipar, Sukabumi City, West Java, by highlighting the role of this language in social interaction and local culture. This research aims to reveal the role of the Widal language in maintaining local culture, trace patterns of social interaction in the Tipar Sukabumi community, and identify traces of Indonesian culture that are reflected in the linguistic structure of Widal Sukabumi. Qualitative methods were used by interviewing native speakers of the Widal language, literature studies, and videos documentary as a data source. The research results show that the Widal language was formed as a code language in the Dutch East Indies era. This language structure reflects traces of Indonesian culture with local vocabulary and traditional expressions. The Widal language is not only a means of communication, but also a linguistic cultural heritage that strengthens community solidarity. The unique interaction patterns in Tipar create a social structure because of the Widal language. The implications of this research increase understanding of the role of the Widal language as a linguistic heritage and a tool for maintaining social interaction.

Abstract

This research examines how the cadre phenomenon as a group determines the success of a sustainable development program in rural areas. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Research data collection was carried out through observation and in-depth interviews with development cadres, government apparatus, community leaders, youth leaders, religious leaders, and the community in the 3 (three) research villages, namely Cidenok Village, Sumberjaya Village, and Garawangi Village, which all three are part of Sumberjaya District, Majalengka Regency, West Java Indonesia. This study found that cadres are one of the determining groups for the success of sustainable development programs in rural areas. The participation of cadres is seen not only in aspects of the government but also in community activities. Cadres who have fast, active, and good adaptation and apply core values can be trusted by the community in disseminating development information and inviting active participation. The success of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in rural areas requires the role of stakeholders both horizontally and vertically between the community and the government. This study concludes that the involvement of cadre groups has a significant role in the successful implementation of the sustainable development program in rural areas.

Abstract

This research examines community participation in sustainable development in West Java, Central Java, and East Java Provinces, Indonesia, which aims to integrate sustainable development goals into policies and activities at the village level. Although the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program has been implemented, citizen participation remains minimal. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through field research, participatory observation, literature research, and in-depth interviews with community leaders and relevant stakeholders. The main findings show that community groups play an active role in physical development and enhance local capacity in resource management, with significant support for the sustainability of SDG programs at the village level. The complexity of economic, social, and cultural factors has influenced their participation, as well as its implications for achieving sustainable development goals. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of community societies in the context of village development, with implications for the development of more inclusive and sustainable policies in the future.

Abstract

This study employs a qualitative narrative review of literature published between 2010 and 2024. Sources were selected based on relevance to AI in education and engagement with sociological concepts such as equity, digital divide, and social interaction. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis and interpreted through sociological frameworks, including Bourdieu’s theory of capital, Bernstein’s pedagogic control, and Vygotsky’s social learning theory. The findings indicate that AI contributes to improved instructional quality through personalized learning, enhanced engagement, and efficient feedback mechanisms. AI also expands educational access, particularly for learners in remote areas. However, its implementation remains uneven, with disparities in infrastructure, digital access, and teacher readiness. Additionally, increased reliance on AI may reduce face-to-face interaction and shift pedagogical authority toward algorithmic systems. The study reveals that AI functions as a dual-pathway mechanism: it enhances educational quality and access while simultaneously reinforcing existing social inequalities. Its impact is shaped by institutional capacity, digital capital, and pedagogical practices, highlighting that AI is not a neutral tool but a sociotechnical construct embedded in broader social structures. AI has the potential to support equitable and high-quality education, but only when supported by inclusive policies, adequate infrastructure, and strong teacher capacity. A sociologically informed approach is essential to ensure that AI integration promotes educational equity rather than deepening existing disparities.
