Abstract

In the last three years based on SBMPTN data, interest in the Physics Education Department has decreased drastically in various Public universities in Indonesia which has an impact on private universities, especially at Unismuh Makassar. The desired research objective is to analyze the factors that influence the interest of prospective students towards the Department of Physics Education at Unismuh Makassar. Quantitative descriptive research is the type of research used with the population of senior high school in Gowa Regency which consists of a sample of 50 class XII students from Public senior high school 1 Gowa, Public senior high school 19 Gowa, senior high school Handayani Sungguminasa, andsenior high school Aksara Bajeng. Questionnaire is an instrument used to obtain research data which was analyzed by exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The results of the analysis in this study obtained 4 factors that influence the interest of prospective students towards the Department of Physics Education at Unismuh Makassar, namely personal and parental motivation factors, environmental factors that like Physics Education, physics content factors, and employment factors.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Karassing, Kecamatan Herlang, bekerja sama dengan Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) di daerah tersebut yang memiliki permasalahan mengenai pemanfaatan pekarangan rumah. Kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan: 1) peningkatan pengetahuan mitra tentang intensifikasi pemanfaatan pekarangan rumah yang lebih asri dan indah dipandang mata; 2) menghasikan sayuran yang layak untuk dikonsumsi; 3) meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra tentang cara bercocok tanam yang baik dan efektif. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pendekatan partisipatori, dimana tim bersama mitra langsung terlibat secara proaktif. Dan  menggunakan pendekatan solusi berupa pelatihan dan pendampingan sebagai pemecahan masalah utama pada mitra. Yang menjadi Target utama dalam pelatihan ini adalah budidaya sayuran dengan sistem hidroponik pada kelompok wanita tani Desa Karassing Kecamatan Herlang Kabupaten Bulukumba. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu meningkatnya pengetahuan mitra menganai pemanfaatan pekarangan rumah yang lebih asri dan indah. Hal ini terlihat dari beberapa anggota KWT yang telah memanfaatkan pekarangan rmah mereka dengan membudidayakan sayuran yang berkualitas dengan teknologi hidroponik.Abstract: This service activity is carried out in Karassing Village, Herlang District, in collaboration with the Women Farmers Group (KWT) in the area which has problems regarding the use of the house yard. This PKM activity aims to: 1) increase partners' knowledge about intensification of the use of house yards that are more beautiful and beautiful to the eye; 2) produce vegetables suitable for consumption; 3) increase partners' knowledge about good and effective farming methods. The method used in this activity is a participatory approach, where the team and partners are directly involved proactively. And using a solution approach in the form of training and mentoring as a solution to the main problem for partners. The main target in this training is the cultivation of vegetables with a hydroponic system in a group of women farmers in Karassing Village, Herlang District, Bulukumba Regency. The result of this activity was the increased knowledge of partners regarding the use of more beautiful and beautiful yards. This can be seen from several KWT members who have utilized their home yards by cultivating quality vegetables with hydroponic technology.

Abstract

Abstrak: Olimpiade Sains Nasional (OSN)  adalah ajang kompetisi dalam bidang sains bagi para siswa pada jenjang SD, SMP, dan SMA di Indonesia. Berdasarkan informasi yang diperoleh dari data dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Barru, kurang siswa yang dapat lolos pada seleksi tingkat kabupaten. Berdasarkan hal di atas maka kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat  yang dilakukan difokuskan kepada pembinaan guru-guru IPA SD dalam pendalaman materi dan pelatihan soal Olimpiade Sains Nasional. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan melalui pembinaan kepada guru-guru IPA SD tentang soal Olimpiade Sains Nasional, sehingga guru-guru dapat mengenali jenis soal OSN dan menganalisis soal-soal OSN, sehingga nantinya  dapat membimbing siswa yang akan mengikuti seleksi OSN dengan maksimal. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di PKG SDI S. Binangae, pada tanggal 25-26 Juli 2019. Kegiatan diawali dengan kegiatan pembukaan oleh Kepala Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Barru. Selanjutnya materi dibawakan oleh dua orang narasumber dalam satu kelas. Peserta diberikan tes sebanyak dua kali, yaitu pretest di awal kegiatan dan posttest di akhir kegiatan. Tes ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan awal dan akhir peserta sebagai bahan evaluasi keberhasilan kegiatan pembinaan ini.Abstract:  The National Science (OSN) is a competition in the field of science for students at the elementary, junior and senior high schools in Indonesia. Based on information obtained from the Barru District Education Office Data, the lack of students who can qualify for district-level selection. Based on the above, the community service activities carried out are focused on fostering elementary science teachers in the deepening of the material and training on the National Science Olympiad. The purpose of this activity is to provide knowledge through guidance to elementary science teachers about the National Science Olympiad so that teachers can recognize OSN questions and analyze OSN questions, so that later they can guide students who will take OSN selection maximally. This activity was carried out by PKG SDI S. Binangae, on 25-26 July 2019. The activity began with an opening activity by the head of the Barru District Education office. Furthermore, the material was presented by two speakers in one class. Participants were given tests twice, namely pretest at the beginning of the activity and posttest at the end of the activity. This test aims to determine the participants’ initial and final abilities as an evaluation material for the success of this coaching activity.

Abstract

The type of research used in this research is Pre-Experimental Designs research. The objectives of this research are: 1) To describe the learning outcomes of students in class X MIPA at SMA Negeri 5 Bone before and after the implementation of online learning with the educational game Quizizz in learning; 2) Describe the improvement in learning outcomes of students in class X MIPA at SMA Negeri 5 Bone before and after the implementation of online learning using the Quizizz educational game in learning. The samples in this study were students of class X MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 5 Bone which consisted of 31 students. The data collection technique used in collecting data in this study was by means of a test consisting of a pretest and posttest in the form of multiple choices. The results of the descriptive analysis in this study showed that the scores obtained by students in the posttest were much higher than the scores obtained in the pretest. Where the average score in the pretest is 13.42 with a standard deviation of 4.20, while in the posttest the average score obtained by students is 23.98 with a standard deviation of 4.70. So there is an increase in student learning outcomes before and after being taught by applying the Quizizz educational game, where the increase is in the moderate category.

Abstract

Tujuan utama dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis perbedaan keampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik antara kelas Problem Based Learning dengan kelas discovery learning. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah peneltian True Experimen dengan menggunakan desain Posttest-Only Control Design. Sampel dalam penelitian adalah kelas XI MIPA 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI MIPA 2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Data penelitian yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif dalam bentuk soal essay. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik kelas XI MIPA 3 yang diajar menggunakan model Problem Based Learning memperoleh skor rata-rata sebesar 56,3. Sedangkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik kelas XI MIPA 2 SMA yang diajar menggunakan model discovery learning memperoleh skor rata-rata sebesar 51,7, dan pada analisis inferensial menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik yang diajar menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dan yang diajar dengan menggunakan model discovery learning, akan tetapi perbedaan yang diperoleh tidak signifikan.

Abstract

Selama covid-19, kegiatan praktikum pada Program Studi Pendidikan Fisika di Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar menggunakan system blended yaitu sebagian unit percobaan dipraktikkan secara langsung di laboratorium dan sebagian lagi di virtual lab. Secara logika akan mengakibatkan menurunnya keterampilan proses sains yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa, dimana sebelum covid-19, keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa dilatih dan ditingkatkan melalui kegiatan praktikum/pengamatan langsung. Menganalisis keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Fisika untuk mata kuliah yang terintegrasi dengan kegiatan praktikum di masa Pandemi merupakan tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan. Penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif merupakan jenis penelitian yang digunakan dengan penarikan sampel secara purposive sebanyak 51 mahasiswa semester 1, 3, dan 5 pada Program Studi Pendidikan Fisika Tahun Ajaran 2019/2020. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes kinerja yang dianalisis secara deskriptif. Penelitian yang diperoleh menghasilkan gambaran secara umum keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa dominan berada pada level rendah dengan frekuensi terbanyak yaitu 33 mahasiswa. Hasil Analisis untuk setiap indikator yaitu kategori sedang berada pada indikator klasifikasi dan interpretasi dengan nilai masing-masing 62,6 dan 57,4. Dan lima indikator lainnya berada pada kategori rendah yaitu memprediksi, menyusun hipotesis, mendesain percobaan, dan mengomunikasikan dengan nilai masing-masing 42,6; 40,9; 44,3; 32,2; dan 48,7. Berdasarkan hasil analisis tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa selama masa pandemi covid-19, keterampilan proses sains yang dimiliki mahasiswa menurun. Implikasi dari penelitian ini merupakan dasar dalam pemilihan metode kegiatan praktikum khususnya yang berbasis virtual sehingga dapat berdampak positif pada peningkatan keterampilan proses sains yang dimiliki mahasiswa. During covid-19, practicum activities at the Physics Education Study Program at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar used a blended system. Some experimental units were practised directly in the laboratory and partly in a virtual lab. Logically, this will result in a decrease in the science process skills possessed by students, whereas before Covid-19, students' science process skills were trained and improved through practical activities/direct observations. Analyzing the science process skills of Physics Education Study Program students for courses integrated with practical activities during the Pandemic is the purpose of this research. Quantitative descriptive research is the type of research used by purposive sampling of 51 students in semesters 1, 3, and 5 in the Physics Education Study Program for 2019/2020 Academic Year Data were collected using a performance test instrument which was analyzed descriptively. The research obtained a general description of the dominant student's science process skills at a low level, with the highest frequency of 33 students. The analysis results for each indicator, namely the medium category, are in the classification and interpretation indicators with 62.6 and 57.4, respectively. Moreover, five other indicators are in a low category: predicting, formulating hypotheses, designing experiments, and communicating, with values of 42.6, 40.9, 44.3, 32.2, and 48.7, respectively. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that during the covid-19 pandemic, the science process skills possessed by students decreased. The implication of this research is the basis for choosing the method of practicum activities, especially those based on virtual, so that they can have a positive impact on increasing students' science process skills.

Abstract

The topic of electricity is one of the topics in the Advanced Physics course which has abstract dominant characteristics. The abstract nature of electrical material has the potential to be difficult to understand and has the potential for misunderstanding by students. The four-tier test is a type of test that can be used to identify student misconceptions. The research method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive research with a survey research type. The populations of this study were all first-year prospective elementary teacher students who took the advanced physics courses as many as 30 students. The sampling technique of this study used a saturated sample whose number is the same as that of the study population. The research instrument was in the form of a four-tier test related to electricity topics, totaling 20 questions and divided into the sub-topics of electric current, electromotive force and potential difference, resistance, energy and conductivity of electric current, dc electric circuits, and Kirchhoff's Laws. The characteristics of this four-tier test consist of four levels. The first level is a choice of answers by providing five choices. The second level is the level of the respondent's confidence in the answer choices. The third level is the choice of reasons for the answer chosen by the respondent. The fourth level is the level of confidence in the choice of reasons for the selected answer. Respondents' answer patterns were grouped into three categories, namely understanding the concept, not understanding, and misconceptions. The results showed that the percentage of students in the categories of not understanding concepts, understanding concepts, and misconceptions were respectively 49.65%, 29.38% and 20.97%. Overall, it can be concluded that the dominant first grade students do not understand the concept and some experience misconceptions. The findings of this study may have implications for efforts to improve debriefing in Advanced Physics lectures in the future so as to be able to reduce misconceptions and understand student concepts

Abstract

Assessment of practicum activities must encompass all aspects of scientific practices. Observations in this research indicate that the assessment utilized by the Physics Education Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar for practicum activities is an Authentic Assessment consisting of three assessment components: response, practicum activities, and report. This assessment is the result of development by one of the lecturers who taught courses integrated with practicum activities in 2015, and its implementation began in 2016. Using authentic assessment instruments in the form of worksheet, this study aims to assess the scientific practice skills of students enrolled in Basic Physics practicum. This research employed quantitative descriptive research. Thirteen first-semester students in the academic year 2022/2023 participated as the research subject. The results demonstrate that the assessment conducted using authentic assessment in practicum activities did not encompass all indicators of scientific practice skills. The authentic assessment did not include three of the eight indicators of scientific practice skills, namely the ability to ask questions, develop and use a model, and discover, evaluate, and communicate data findings. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize specialized assessment to measure the effectiveness of scientific practices, such as scientific practices assessment instruments.

Abstract

SMA Negeri 5 Bone merupakan salah satu sekolah yang menerapkan pembelajaran fisika melalui daring di tengah maraknya wabah covid-19. Untuk menarik minat siswa dalam pembelajaran fisika, maka dibutuhkan alternatif pembelajaran yang mampu menjadikan pembelajaran fisika menjadi pembelajaran yang menyenangkan. Salah satunya adalah menggunakan layanan aplikasi yang sudah disediakan oleh pihak ketiga yaitu aplikasi Quizizz yang dapat digunakan oleh pendidik untuk membuat pembelajaran fisika lebih menarik dimata peserta didik. Quizizz merupakan sebuah web-tool untuk membuat permainan kuis interaktif yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran yang dapat diakses secara luas oleh peserta didik tanpa harus bertatap muka langsung. Quizizz juga dapat memberikan data dan statistik tentang kinerja peserta didik. Pendidik dapat melacak berapa peserta didik yang menjawab pertanyaan yang telah dibuat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian Pre-Experimental Designs. Instrumen penelitian adalah alat atau fasilitas yang digunakan peneliti dalam mengumpulkan data. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen yaitu berupa tes hasil belajar. Untuk mengukur hasil belajar peserta didik kelas X MIPA SMA Negeri 5 Bone, peneliti menggunakan instrumen berupa multiple chice (pilihan ganda), di mana jawaban pada masing-masing item berupa lima alternatif pilihan dengan satu jawaban tepat. Sebelum diberikan kepada peserta didik instrumen di analisis terlebih dahulu untuk mengetahui tingkat validitas dan reliabilitas perangkat yang akan digunakan, instrumen tersebut divalidasi oleh dua pakar (ahli), kemudian di analisis dengan menggunakan uji Gregory. Adapun luaran yang ditargetkan yaitu (1) pengetahuan peserta didik dalam penguasaan ilmu fisika serta kemampuan interaktif berbasis internet dalam penggunaan game edukasi quizizz; (2) pengetahuan praktis ilmu fisika yang dimiliki para pendidik dan peserta didik yang akan diperoleh melalu kegiatan penelitian; (3) mengubah paradigma berpikir peserta didik bahwa “Fisika itu Menyenangkan dan Tidak Sulit” melalui game edukasi quizizz
