Abstract

In carrying out the process of registering new members, disseminating information and managing data on the management of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Dharma Andalas University, Padang. And that is a problem for UKM administrators on the campus. An information system is needed that can manage the data collection process for registrants, dissemination of information on SME activities, as well as manage data files - data reports from SME management in a more structured manner.The purpose of this research is to design a web-based information system that can facilitate the management of UKM Dharma Andalas University activities, Padang and make it easier to register new members. There are 3 users who can access this system, namely main admin, UKM administrators and students. Each of them has a different role. The student page contains some information such as UKM profiles, announcements, registration, activity information and news about UKM. The method used in this research is the prototype method and the PHP programming language, MySQL as the database. The results of this study are to make it easier for UKM Dharma Andalas University to carry out the process of registering new members for UKM Dharma Andalas University and also to manage file management for each UKM easier and faster.

Abstract

Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) merupakan inisiatif strategis untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi peserta didik sejak dini, yang bertujuan menciptakan budaya membaca dan menulis yang berkelanjutan. Untukmendukung GLS, perguruan tinggi dapat memainkan peran penting melalui pengabdian kepada masyarakat . Artikel ini menguraikan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh Universitas Dharma Andalas dengan fokus pada pelatihan guru-guru MGMP TIK SMA Kota Padang untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam merancang aplikasi game edukasi berbasis Android menggunakan Quick App Ninja. Dilaksanakan pada tanggal 10 September 2024 di Universitas Dharma Andalas, terdiri dari empat metode utama: (1) Metode Sosialisasi, mencakup pemaparan tentang pentingnya literasi dan potensi game edukasi; (2) Metode Rancangan Bangun Aplikasi yang melibatkan perancangan dan pembuatan prototipe aplikasi game edukasi; (3) Metode Pelatihan dan Pendampingan yang memberikan pelatihan teknis kepada para guru; dan (4) Metode Simulasi dan Evaluasi untuk menguji efektivitas aplikasi dan mengumpulkan umpan balik. Dengan pelatihan ini, diharapkan guru-guru dapat memanfaatkan teknologi untuk mendukung proses pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif dan menarik, sekaligus memperkuat keterampilan literasi siswa. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan bagaimana perguruan tinggi berkolaborasi dengan kelompok pendidikan untuk mendukung GLS dan mewujudkan insan literat sepanjang hidup

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the graphic design and digital marketing skills of members of UMKM Rezki Berkah Sehati in West Sumatra. Through Canva application training, participants are expected to create more attractive and effective promotional materials and strengthen their products' visual identity. In addition to the training, the Pusat Studi Pengembangan Nagari (PSPN) of Universitas Dharma Andalas also facilitated the UMKM to showcase their products through a booth at a mini UMKM bazaar. The results of this training showed a significant improvement in graphic design understanding, as well as the use of social media for product promotion. Despite some challenges related to the limited time for intensive mentoring, this activity successfully enhanced the competitiveness of UMKM and opened broader market opportunities. Moving forward, the development of training materials and the expansion of collaboration with various stakeholders will further strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in West Sumatra.

Abstract

The Kampung Baru Village Mosque/Musalla Geographic Information System (GIS) is a web-based application designed to provide accurate and easily accessible information about the locations, facilities, and activity schedules of mosques and musallas in the area. The system utilizes digital mapping technology to visually and interactively display spatial data. Users can search for mosques or musallas based on name, location, or desired facilities. Additionally, the system is equipped with a navigation feature integrated with popular mapping applications to facilitate users in finding routes to places of worship. With this system, it is hoped that it can improve convenience and ease for Muslims in carrying out their religious duties and strengthen ties among the congregation.

Abstract

This study investigates user sentiment toward leading Indonesian e‑commerce applications through deep‑learning‑based text classification. A balanced corpus of 50,000 Indonesian‑language reviews was collected from Google Play and App Store for Tokopedia, Shopee, Bukalapak, Lazada, and Blibli. We applied two state‑of‑the‑art approaches—Long Short‑Term Memory (LSTM) networks enriched with pre‑trained FastText embeddings and fine‑tuned Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT; IndoBERT v2). Data pre‑processing included text cleaning, slang normalization, stemming, and tokenization following the KBBI standard. Both models were trained with an 80:20 stratified split and evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, F1‑score, and AUC. BERT achieved 90.6 % accuracy and 90.1 % F1‑score, outperforming LSTM's 83.2 % accuracy and 82.7 % F1‑score. McNemar’s test indicated the improvement is statistically significant (p < 0.01). These findings show that contextual embeddings capture nuanced Indonesian sentiments more effectively than sequential RNN‑based approaches, offering actionable insights for e‑commerce stakeholders to enhance customer experience.

Abstract

Aliansi Coffe-Brew merupakan salah satu Coffe Shop tempat minum kopi yang terletak di Jalan Sungai Balang kelurahan Cupak Tangah kecamatan Pauh kota Padang Sumatera Barat yang menyajikan aneka macam minuman kopi. Coffe Shop ini ramai dikunjungi karena menu yang disajikan cukup unik dan letaknya yang dekat dengan area kampus. Untuk saat ini proses pemesanan dan transaksi pada coffe shop ini masih dilakukan secara manual sehingga masih banyak kendala dalam pelayanan kepada pelanggan. Untuk meningkatkan pelayanan dari coffe shop ini dibutuhkan aplikasi penjualan yang akan mengelola pesanan pelanggan, mengelola transaksi dan mengelola stok barang pada Aliansi Coffe-Brew. Aplikasi ini berbasiskan mobile. Aplikasi mobile yang dibangun menggunakan bahasa pemrograman Java dengan IDE Android Studio berfungsi untuk melakukan proses pemesanan, transaksi dan stok. Metode yang dihgunakan adalah pendekatan berorientasi objek menggunakan UML (Unified Modelling Language) yakni Use case diagram, Use Case Scenario. Dengan adanya aplikasi ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pelayanan terhadap pelanggan dengan memanfaatkan teknologi yang ada

Abstract

Choosing a major is a crucial decision for prospective students entering higher education. An inappropriate choice may lead to low learning motivation, poor academic performance, and career mismatches. This study aims to develop a multiclass majors recommendation system based on machine learning using the Random Forest algorithm. The dataset consists of 855 student and alumni records from 10 majors at Dharma Andalas University (UNIDHA), including academic attributes (subject grades, GPA, entrance test results) and non-academic attributes (gender, high school major, interest, and alumni career field). The model was trained using an 80:20 train-test ratio and evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and macro-average AUC. The results show that the Random Forest outperforms Decision Tree, K-Nearest Neighbor, and Naive Bayes, achieving an accuracy of 0.920 and AUC of 0.972. These findings demonstrate that ensemble-based algorithms are highly effective for multiclass recommendation problems and can serve as a foundation for academic and career guidance systems in universities.

Abstract

In social commerce, particularly among small and medium-sized handicraft enterprises (SMEs), personalized recommender systems (RS) are crucial for enhancing store and product discovery. Conventional content-based filtering (CBF) often overemphasizes accuracy, leading to over-specialization and limiting exposure to novel or diverse items, an issue in the handicraft sector where uniqueness is valued. This study proposes a serendipitous recommendation approach using a Genetic Algorithm (GA) with adaptive selection strategies, Roulette Wheel Selection (RWS), Tournament Selection (TnS), and Rank-Based Selection (RBS), to balance relevance and unexpectedness. Handicraft store attributes, such as product types, materials, and services, are encoded in a 19-bit chromosome and evaluated via a hybrid fitness function. Tested on real data from West Sumatra SMEs, the model is assessed using Precision, Recall, Novelty, and Serendipity metrics. Results show that the GA-based adaptive selection approach outperforms baseline CBF in producing more diverse and surprising recommendations, fostering exploratory shopping experiences and supporting the discovery of unique local products in social commerce ecosystems.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has significantly influenced various sectors, including education. However, the integration of AI in secondary school learning environments remains limited due to low digital literacy and insufficient understanding of AI applications among students and teachers. Preliminary observations conducted at MAN 3 Padang, SMA Negeri 6 Padang, and SMK Negeri 5 Padang indicated that most students were unfamiliar with the practical use of AI as a tool to support learning and creative activities. Therefore, this community service program aimed to improve students’ Artificial Intelligence literacy and enhance their creativity through training and implementation of AI-based applications in the learning process. The implementation method employed a participatory approach consisting of several stages, including needs assessment, socialization of AI concepts, training on AI creative applications such as ChatGPT and Canva AI, implementation of AI-based creative projects, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test methods. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding of AI concepts, increasing from 32% before the training to 85% after the training. Furthermore, students’ ability to utilize AI tools for creative tasks increased from 20% to 82%. Participants were able to produce various digital works such as posters, short articles, and visual designs using AI-based tools. In addition, the program produced AI learning modules and established student AI communities in partner schools to ensure the sustainability of the program. This activity contributes to improving students’ digital literacy and demonstrates the potential of Artificial Intelligence integration in supporting creative and technology-based learning at the secondary school level.
