Abstract

Cognitive style is a way of thinking that students use to help solve a problem according to their knowledge and experience. This research aims to determine students' cognitive styles in solving Pythagorean problems. The subjects in this research were students who met the FI and FD cognitive styles based on the GEFT test. This research was carried out in class VII of MTs Nurul Ikhlas Ambon. The method used in this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The research results showed that FI students use different methods according to their knowledge, and the solutions they carry out tend to be unstructured. The method FI students use is a fast way to solve Pythagorean problems. Apart from that, the images created by referring to the information obtained are done simply by the concepts understood. Meanwhile, FD students use the same method their previous teacher taught. The solving process is carried out in a structured manner to obtain the final result. The method used by FD students is the Pythagorean formula. Furthermore, in making pictures, FD students clearly describe the information in the problem in detail and complexly.

Abstract

Problem-solving is an effort to find a way out of a difficulty so as to obtain a solution. Each child's problem-solving is different. This is influenced by the dominance of the brain in solving a problem. The purpose of this study is to describe the geometry problem-solving abilities of junior high school students in terms of left and right brain dominance. The research method is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The instruments used are test questions, questionnaires, and interview guidelines. The results show that students with left and right brain dominance types in solving geometry problems can fulfill all stages according to Gagne, which include Presentation of the problem, stating the problem in operational form, compiling work procedures, making hypotheses, and reviewing. The findings of students with left brain dominance in solving problems appear to be calmer and more patient, prefer to solve problems with formulas given by a teacher, need scratch paper in solving problems, tend to think with the chin supported by the right hand, and have neat writing. Meanwhile, students with right brain dominance in solving problems appear to move more, tend to have many ways, sometimes use their own way, work while speaking, and if they have scribbles, it will be very difficult to understand, and draw on blank paper with unclear images.

Abstract

Based on the differences and similarities of mathematical cultural roots in Indonesia, it is necessary to describe its characteristics and indicators. This article systematically reviews indicators in the roots of mathematical culture in Indonesia based on previous research guided by Prisma's statements. Metadata was analyzed using open coding and re-encoded through axial and selective coding to form ethnomathematics characteristics in Indonesian culture. The results showed that ethnomathematics in Indonesian culture has four characteristics, including 1) Using integer operations, patterns and number bases, residual theorem, modulo, and unity, Kubik, determination of surface area in starting development activities and determining seasonal systems; 2) Using the concept of geometric transformation in making Batik motifs and traditional houses; 3) Conducting games by exploring arithmetic and probabilities, ideas, and mathematical practices; and 4) Using human body size as a measuring tool in starting a development activity and planting land. Keywords: systematic review, Ethnomamatics, characteristics, Indonesian culture. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp1195-1204

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of TPACK in microteaching mathematics education students in terms of differences in online learning platforms. The type of research used in this study is Mixed Method with a Sequential Explanatory design by starting with quantitative data collection and then continuing with qualitative data collection.. The subjects in this study consisted of 12 mathematics students. Subjects were given a TPACK ability test and the opportunity to simulate learning using an online learning platform, then conducted in-depth interviews regarding the implementation results. The results showed that there were differences in the ability to implement student TPACK in microteaching consisting of PCK components including basic skills of explaining and asking, TPK components covering basic skills of explaining and providing reinforcement, TCK components covering basic skills of explaining and providing variations, and TPACK components covering basic skills of opening and closing as well as essential skills of managing small groups. Based on the two platforms used, Moodle is better when compared to Google Classroom in supporting and making it easier for students to implement TPACK when compared to using Google Classroom. Especially in terms of appearance, features, integration with other applications, and storage limits. It can be stated that Moodle is more effective when compared to Google Classroom in implementing TPACK in microteaching.

Abstract

Epistemological beliefs simultaneously affect mathematical communication skills. The higher the epistemological beliefs of a person's ability to formulate concepts, convey ideas, and hone ideas to convince others, the more mathematical communication skills will increase. This qualitative study uses three variables to describe mathematical communication and students' epistemological beliefs on linear system material. The subjects in this study were students who had epistemological beliefs from the test results, and students who were taken were students who were able to meet the indicators of epistemological confidence. Data collection techniques are tests, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that students have beliefs that do not change or remain in solving test questions. The method used is more consistent with the way of solving, which according to students, is easy to do, able to solve problems by multiplying exercises and repeating what has been learned, solving problems by following the steps and methods of completion taught by the teacher, students can estimate answers or problem solving because of problems The subject obtained is obtained from experience and observations in everyday life.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to integrate this concept into the school environment, one way being through learning, which helps students understand and practice the teachings of Islam in a moderate and tolerant manner.Methodology – This research employs a qualitative and descriptive approach, utilizing the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. The subjects of our Community Service activities consisted of 19 teachers and 39 students from three Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in the Central Maluku district, namely Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Hidayah Liang, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Salman Al Farisi Liang, and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Kahar 2 Iha Liang.Findings – Training on strengthening numeracy literacy and science literacy based on religious moderation can improve the ability of teachers at 3 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Central Maluku district to implement numeracy literacy-based mathematics learning and science literacy-based science learning. The pre-test results showed an average score of 27, while the post-test average increased significantly to 75.3. On the other hand, for the application of numeracy literacy learning and science literacy based on religious moderation, there are still teachers who struggle to apply it.Contribution – This research can improve the ability of teachers and students regarding numeracy literacy and science literacy at 3 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Central Maluku district, as well as understanding and applying the concept of religious moderation in everyday life.
