Abstract

The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has encouraged the development of more interactive, contextual, and student-centered biology learning media. However, population dynamics remains a challenging topic for students because ecological interactions, such as population growth, predator–prey relationships, environmental carrying capacity, and resource availability, are abstract and cannot always be observed directly in classroom settings. This study aimed to design and evaluate the feasibility of Rabbit Population Dynamics (RPD), a game-based learning medium developed to support students’ understanding of population dynamics. This research and development study employed the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, integrated with Merrill’s principles of instruction to strengthen the pedagogical structure of the media. Product feasibility was examined through media expert validation, content expert validation, and a small-group trial involving 13 university students who had studied population dynamics. The results showed media validation of 87.90% in the highly feasible category, content validation of 93.90% in the highly feasible category, and a small-group trial score of 87.27% in the highly feasible category. These findings indicate that RPD is highly feasible as an interactive learning medium for the population dynamics subtopic. Further classroom implementation with high-school students is recommended to examine its effect on conceptual understanding, learning engagement, and problem-solving skills in biology learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, assisted by the Rabbit Dynamics Population media, on students' scientific attitudes towards ecosystem materials. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (posttest-only control group design) involving three groups, namely the experimental class (PBL assisted by simulation media), the positive control class (PBL without media), and the negative control class (discovery learning). The research sample comprised 90 students from class X at SMA Negeri 1 Jatiwaras, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a 23-item scientific attitude questionnaire using a Likert scale that met validity and reliability criteria (α > 0.80). Data analysis was carried out using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by one-way ANOVA, with post hoc tests. The results showed a significant difference in students' scientific attitudes between groups (Sig. < 0.05), with the experimental class having the highest average compared to the positive and negative control classes. Further tests showed that the experimental classes differed significantly from the two control classes, while there was no significant difference between the positive and negative control classes. The increase in scientific attitudes in the experimental class is evident in the indicators of critical thinking, creativity, cooperation, and perseverance. These findings show that integrating the PBL model with the Rabbit Dynamics Population simulation media effectively improves students' scientific attitudes, and it is therefore recommended as a biology learning innovation to support 21st-century skill development.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) offers great potential to enhance the quality of education, particularly in supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ competencies in utilizing AI, specifically ChatGPT and GEMINI, to develop innovative learning tools. The training and mentoring activities were conducted at SMPN 1 Singaparna, Tasikmalaya Regency, involving 26 science teachers. Evaluation was carried out through pretests and posttests to measure participants’ knowledge improvement, workshops to produce learning products, and monitoring of classroom implementation. Pretest results showed that 65% of participants had a low understanding of AI concepts and the Merdeka Curriculum. After the training, 85% demonstrated good understanding. The workshop produced 10 AI-based learning tools that were assessed as innovative, relevant, and creative. Monitoring indicated that 75% of participants successfully integrated these tools into their classroom practices. This success was influenced by hands-on training, continuous mentoring, and teacher collaboration. However, some participants still faced challenges in adapting the tools to individual student needs. The program demonstrates that collaborative practice-based training and mentoring effectively enhance teacher competencies and foster the creation of technology-based learning innovations aligned with the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

YouTube media can be utilized and implemented in learning at school by using technological capabilities in accordance with the times. Learning that uses the discovery learning model is more meaningful if collaborated with YouTube media. This study aims to determine the effect of the discovery learning model using YouTube media on students' cognitive learning outcomes on environmental change material in class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Rancah Ciamis in the 2022/2023 academic year. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control design. The population in this study were all students of class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Rancah consisting of four classes with a total of 152 students. The samples used were X MIPA 2 class as an experimental class totaling 37 students and X MIPA 1 class as a control class totaling 38 students. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques in the form of learning achievement tests totaling 30 questions. The instrument used is a learning outcome test on environmental change material. The data analysis technique used an independent t-test whose results obtained a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, so that there was an effect of the discovery learning model with YouTube media on student learning outcomes on environmental change material in class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Rancah in the 2022/2020 academic year. It is hoped that in further learning can use YouTube media to improve better student learning outcomes.
