Abstract

Equity, inclusion, and education are remarkable elements encompassed in the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs). As such, there is a growing number of publications on these topics presenting some challenges to envision an overarching understating of the connections among these subjects. Hence, the purpose of the current study is to explore the body of research that involves equity, inclusion, and education that is contributed by Indonesian academia by employing bibliometric and science mapping analysis. The search was conducted on SCOPUS database which resulted in some 400 plus documents after applying the pre-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was analyzed employing various bibliometric analysis indicators such as number of publications, contributing institutions, citation, co-citation, and keywords. Microsoft excel and VOSviewer software was employed for conducting the analysis. The findings revealed that the number of publications and citations on the topics has been quiet fluctuating. Analyses of the intellectual and conceptual structure revealed that trans-disciplinary nature of scholarship on the topic. Based on the findings, the needs for a greater emphasis on research in these areas by Indonesian institutions/researchers are realized. It is also suggested that researchers employ an integrated approach by investigating variables from the policy and practice perspectives as well as at an organizational or systemic level. The findings are string support that education is an integral component of achieving equity and inclusion which should be taken into account while devising policies and implementing the same.

Abstract

Dating violence (KDP) is one of the most prevalent cases in Indonesia. Most victims of the cases choose to stay in the relationship and forgive their partners. This study aims to investigate whether emotional regulation strategies mediate the role of romantic attachment components on affective and cognitive empathy toward victims of dating violence. Participants in the study were victims of dating violence aged 18-29 years (N= 367) who live in Java Island. Research samples were collected using volunteer techniques (opt-in) panels where participants agreed to be involved through an invitation on a website page without being formally recruited. This study employs The Basic Empathy Scale to measure the dimensions of empathy, the Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory to measure the type of romantic attachment components, and finally Emotion Regulation Questionnaire to measure the type of emotional regulation strategies. By model 4 of Hayes's analyses, the results showed that the reappraisal strategies type mediated the role of avoidance attachment toward empathy, both affective and cognitive. As practical implications, counselors are expected to establish secure attachments, particularly with their clients who experience dating violence in order to stabilize cognitive and affective empathy so they are able to live free of violent relationships.

Abstract

Parenting stress is an uncomfortable and unpleasant condition experienced by parents when raising children. This study aims to determine the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between self-compassion and parenting stress in working mothers. This study uses a quantitative correlational design method with a sampling technique used is purposive sampling, so that a sample of 86 working mothers with children aged 0-6 years was obtained. The data collection technique uses three scales, namely the self-compassion scale, the resilience scale, and the parenting stress scale. The analysis technique in this study uses effect mediation analysis, multiple regression, and correlation. The results showed that resilience acts as a partial mediator in the relationship between parenting stress and self-compassion with an estimate value of -0.046, p <0.01. The results also show a value of r = -0.640, p <0.01, which means that there is a significant negative relationship between self-compassion and parenting stress. Then the results show a value of r = -0.630 p <0.01, which means that there is a significant negative relationship between resilience and parenting stress. The results of the study indicate that resilience partially mediates the relationship between self-compassion and parenting stress. This means that there are other variables that can mediate the relationship between self-compassion and parenting stress, and self-compassion and resilience are needed in working mothers who have children aged 0-6 years to cope with stress that arises in parenting.

Abstract

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, various activities, including the learning process, have shifted to digital platforms. This is a serious concern because teenagers interact more easily with smartphones than pay attention to other people during social interactions, which is called "phubbing". The purpose of this study was to examine the role of cognitive empathy in phubbing among adolescents who use social media. By using the volunteer sampling (opt-in) panel technique, a total of 398 respondents (aged 16-21) were taken part in this study. Respondents filled out two instruments, namely the Phubbing Scale (10 items), the Basic Empathy Scale (9 items). There is an effect of cognitive empathy on phubbing in adolescent social media users, with a contribution value of 38%. The results showed there was a gender difference, with girls reporting higher levels of phubbing and cognitive empathy than boys. This study is the first to provide empirical evidence on the role of cognitive empathy for phubbing on social media among adolescents. This highlights the importance of efforts to indulge our culture as our national identity to stop phubbing becoming the new norm in society, including the younger generation.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship of empathy and conflict behavior in early adolescents who have dual-career parents. There were two instruments: The Basic Empathy Scale (BES) by Jolliffe and Farrington (2006 and Conflict Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ) by Robin & Foster (1989). A total respondents of this study were 252 adolescents (N male = 95; N female = 157) obtained online through self-selected polls. By the Spearman's Product Moment correlation analysis, the results showed that there was a significant negative between empathy and conflict behavior in early adolescents with dual-career parents (r = -0,277 p <0.05). The results also showed that there were significant differences in conflict behavior between ages 13 years to 16 years, where the age of 14 years was higher (M = 152.83) in experiencing conflict behavior compared to other ages. The implication of this research highlighted the importance of developing empathy in adolescents as an effort to minimize conflict with parents.
