Abstract

High blood pressure or hypertension is a condition where blood pressure always exceeds normal limits, with systolic blood pressure exceeding 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure exceeding 90 mmHg. The aim of this research is to identify whether there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and compliance in taking medication in elderly people who suffer from hypertension. This research applies a quantitative approach with a sample of 96 respondents, selected using a random sampling technique (random sampling). The data in this study were analyzed univariately and bivariately, by applying the Spearman test to assess the relationship between all the variables studied. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire that measured the level of knowledge, namely, with the validity and reliability of Cronbach alpha values of 0.856 for 21 valid questions, and compliance with taking medication, namely, with the validity and reliability of Cronbach alpha values of 0.728 for 8 valid questions. Two questionnaires were used in this study: Compliance Level and MMAS 8. The results of the analysis of respondents' level of knowledge revealed that the majority of respondents had good knowledge, namely 66.7%, followed by sufficient knowledge at 30.2%, and insufficient knowledge at 3.1%. Meanwhile, for the level of compliance with taking medication, the majority of respondents were compliant (71.9%), followed by moderate (25.3%) and low (3.1%) levels of compliance.Reviewing the results of the Spearman Rank (Rho) statistical test, we obtained a value of 0.075 with a p-value = 0.05, which indicates that there is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and compliance in taking medication.

Abstract

Since 1956, the Indonesian public health program has carried out a health program, namely immunization. Immunization is a government health measure that has been proven effective in overcoming six diseases that can affect children, namely : tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis, measles, tetanus, and polio. The Indonesian Ministry of Health stated that in December 2023 and January 2024 there were cases of poliomyelitis or exposure to the VDPV TYPE 2 virus. The level of knowledge, attitude and compliance of mothers is very important for the provision of immunizations routinely to their children. Objective to observe the relationship between maternal knowledge and attitudes and compliance with basic immunization in infants 0-12 months at the Kartasura Health Center. This research is included in the quantitative type and the information is measured using a questionnaire measuring tool. This research is cross-sectional and data collection is obtained by purposive sampling. The community involved were as many as 93 mothers who had babies aged 0-12 months who came to the Kartasura Health Center. The level of knowledge, attitude and compliance of mothers is measured by the knowledge, attitude and practice questionnaire (KAP). In addition, the KAP instrument has been tested for reliability and validity, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be 0.703. This questionnaire was made to assess the role of the following parameters to understand the knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) of mothers regarding basic immunization such as filling in maternal demographic data, age of the child, how many children to be to, name of the vaccine given, vaccine dose, continuing vaccination after immunization reaction, adhering to the immunization schedule. The findings showed that as many as 83 respondents (62.9%) had strong knowledge in basic immunization, 72 respondents (54.5%) had a good attitude towards basic immunization, while 75 respondents (51.8%) had good adherence to basic immunization. The results of the p value of 0.2373 were obtained, the results of the study stated that there was no relationship between the level of basic immunization knowledge and compliance with the administration of basic immunization in infants at the Kartasura Health Center. In addition, in the Kartasura Health Center, there was a correlation, related to the p value of 0.0005, between attitudes towards basic immunization and compliance with the administration of basic immunization to newborns.

Abstract

Hypertension is a long-term health condition that cannot be completely cured. However, individuals can effectively manage their blood pressure by undergoing prolonged or even lifelong medication therapy to keep it under control. This study aims to determine the adherence to taking medication in hypertensive patients at the Kartasura Health Center, Sukoharjo Regency. The study utilized a simple random sampling method to collect data, involving a total of 96 selected respondents. Data were collected in November – December 2024 using the MMAS-8 questionnaire (Morisky Medication Aderence Scale) and direct blood pressure measurement. The results of this study show that most of the respondents are women (58.3%), most of them are in the category of low compliance level (82.3%). The results of the statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.861, indicating that no significant correlation was found between adherence to medication and blood pressure levels among individuals diagnosed with hypertension. This study concluded that blood pressure in hypertensive patients will be stable if medication adherence is carried out properly.
