Abstract

Virtual learning is very much important in the 21st century in increasing interest in communicating in EFL classrooms. Edmodo is one of the media used for virtual learning. This research primarily aimed at describing interactive communication and students’ perspective of the online media "Edmodo" as a means of learning the EFL Classroom. The method used is qualitative methods with data collection techniques with documentation techniques, and observation techniques. Students’ perspective were collected by interviews. Besides that advantages of Edmodo and description classroom activities observed. The results of the analysis showed that Edmodo can be used as an effective learning medium. Edmodo, as a learning tool, can also be an easier introduction to students so that English knowledge be interested to communicate globally. Moreover, it revealed that using Edmodo had positive perspective from students towards interactive communication.

Abstract

UD. Donesi merupakan suatu industri yang bergerak dibidang pembuatan kue kering tradisional. Saat ini kondisi tata letak fasilitas produksi di UD. Donesi masih kurang efisien dalam pengaturan material handling. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan rancangan tata letak fasilitas pabrik yang efisien dengan menggunakan metode ARC dan menganalisis secara kuantitatif dengan meminimalkan material handling, waktu dan menghitung ongkos material handling Pendekatan yang digunakan pada perancangan ulang tata letak fasilitas produksi di UD. Donesi dengan menggunakan analisis kualitatif menggunakan Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) dan analisis kuantitatif melalui perhitungan jarak, waktu dan ongkos material handling dalam menentukan keberhasilan proses perancangan ulang tersebut. Hasil yang diperoleh dari rancangan Layout usulan berdasarkan analisis ARC yaitu jarak material handling berkurang sebesar 68,5 m dan waktu material handling  menjadi 358,46 detik serta  ongkos  material handling Rp 20.664.

Abstract

Usaha kerupuk tapioka Pak Rasianto di Kecamatan Jorong merupakan usaha mikro yang perlu dinilai kelayakan usahanya karena usaha perlu berkembang didukung oleh lokasi yang strategis yang dapat membuka lapangan kerja baru dan meningkatkan pendapatan serta peraturan dan kebijakan pemerintah untuk mendukung pembangunan usaha kecil di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, analisis ini dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi dan meminimalkan hambatan yang muncul di kemudian hari. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis harga pokok produksi (HPP) dan kelayakan industri rumah tangga UKT Jorong. Metode yang digunakan dalam penentuan harga pokok produksi adalah metode full costing dan untuk analisis kelayakan usaha menggunakan metode perhitungan Break Even Point (BEP), Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C), Payback Period (PBP), dan Net Present Value (NPV). Hasil perhitungan HPP untuk produk kerupuk mentah adalah Rp. 29.846/kg dimana nilai ini lebih tinggi dari harga jual dan untuk produk kerupuk matang Rp. 1.261 / bungkus. Hasil analisis kelayakan unit BEP dan nilai BEP rupiah negatif untuk produk kerupuk mentah, untuk produk kerupuk matang BEP Unit 544 bungkus dan BEP Rp 883.333. Nilai R/C ratio sebesar 0,94, PBP dalam 3,8 tahun dan NPV sebesar Rp28.939.232. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dikatakan layak berdasarkan metode PBP dan NPV. Dan tidak layak berdasarkan Metode R/C ratio dan BEP kerupuk mentah adalah negatif.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the improvement of English speaking skill in the first year students by using video blog on social media. This research is conducted at Politeknik Negeri Tanah Laut in April to July 2020 located in the District of Pelaihari, Tanah Laut Regency, South Borneo. The object of this research is the first year students in class 1C and 1D of the Information Technology department. There are 65 students. As for collection of the data based on the CAR methods are planning, action and observation, and reflection. While the technique of collecting the data is qualitative data with interview transcripts and class observation. The students were asked to make video blog to investigate their capability in English speaking skill. The results showed that in cycle 1 found that the frequency level of proficiency criteria of the students are still in average level in vocabulary and pronunciation, and poor level in grammar, fluency and content. In cycle 2, the frequency levels become better. All criteria increase at good level. Video blog on social media improves the English speaking skill of the students well.

Abstract

Komposit merupakan material yang terbentuk dari kombinasi antara dua atau lebih material pembentuknya yang terdiri dari matriks (perekat atau pengikat dan pelindung) dan filler (penguat). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan cara pembuatan komposit berbasis serat alam daun pandan laut sebagai pengisi serta menentukan karakteristik fisik komposit berbasis serat alam daun pandan laut. Pembuatan komposit melalui 4 tahapan yaitu pembuatan serbuk daun pandan laut, pembuatan fraksi selulosa, pembuatan matriks limbah plastik polyethylene terephthalate (PET), dan pembuatan atau pencetakan komposit. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian komposit memiliki kadar air yaitu 4,4% - 5,53%, densitas 0,50 g/cm3- 0,53 g/cm3,  porositas 11,67% - 18,03%, daya serap air  13,03% - 60,12% dan biodegradabilitas 3,18%/hari -3,68%/hari. Penentuan karakterisasi komposit terbaik yang diperoleh yaitu jenis KPL 2 (20% filler selulosa daun pandan laut : 80% matriks pellet polyethylene terephthalate) karena memiliki kadar air, densitas, dan porositas yang sesuai SNI 01-4449-2006, sedangkan daya serap biodegradabilitas sesuai standar JIS A5905-2003. Kata Kunci: Pandan laut, komposit, selulosa, serat alam, casing.

Abstract

The grinding process is machining to achieve a high-quality surface finish and high dimensional accuracy. There are two primary processes, the roughing and finishing process. The roughing process generates higher dynamic cutting forces than the finishing process. It leads to a higher vibration that reduces the ground surface quality, tends to lower dimensional accuracy, and shortens the grinding wheel life. On the other hand, the roughing process is applied to reduce machining time, increasing productivity. We conducted this research to study the effect of longitudinal feed on vibration and the surface roughness of hardened tool steel OCR12VM (equivalent to JIS SKD 11), machined by the surface grinding process. The longitudinal feed was varied from 100 mm/s up to 250 mm/s with a 50 mm/s increment. Each variation was machined with a depth of cut of 0.01 mm, 0.02 mm and 0.03 mm, respectively. The constant machining parameter was set: n= 3000 rpm, transversal feeding= 0.04 mm/stroke. The dimension of the grit 80 Aluminium oxide grinding wheel= Ø 200 mm x 25 mm. The result of the research showed that the surface roughness of the ground surface was linearly proportional to the RMS vibration level. The longitudinal feed effects that increased feed resulted from higher surface roughness. The roughness data trend line on the surface has a square function to the longitudinal feed. The similarity, as previously mentioned, is that the vibrations level also increases quadratically with increasing the longitudinal feed. Thus, it is evident that the surface roughness of the ground surface is closely related to the vibration level during the grinding process. Based on this result, it can predict the roughness of the ground surface by measuring the vibration level during the grinding process without measuring the surface roughness.

Abstract

Students' motivation to learn English is low. Consequently, in the eyes of the students, English subjects become less meaningful, and the end of all that is low in students' achievement. This study aimed to investigate the use of Music Video ASL (American Sign Language) to improve students learning achievement and motivation at the Politeknik Negeri Tanah Laut. The study was classroom action research conducted in two cycles with the subjects of the second-semester Agroindustry study program, Politeknik Negeri Tanah Laut. The data sources were formative tests conducted at the end of every cycle, classroom observation, and student questionnaires. Data were analyzed descriptively to know the improvement of students' achievement and motivation in the learning process towards implementing Video ASL in the classroom. The research findings revealed improvement in students' achievement, from the average score of 52.19 in the pre-cycle, 69.84 at the end of Cycle 1, and 76.41 in Cycle 2. The study concluded that using Music Video ASL motivated students; they actively participated in the class and had very positive views.

Abstract

QRS is one of the palm oil processing industries into Crude Palm Oil (CPO). In every CPO (Crude Palm Oil) processing process, the company always prioritizes the quality of CPO and always optimizes the amount of CPO yield. One of the management systems implemented to obtain the optimal amount of yield is to suppress oil loss during the production process. The dregs in the press station is one of the causes of oil loss. The palm oil mill (PKS) must always ensure that during the process it is within the applicable standards or conditions. PT. QRS has a loss norm of pressed palm oil by 0.52% to FFB at press stations. This study aims to analyze the quality control of oil loss at the press station using the Statistical Process Control (SPC) method with control charts and fishbone diagrams. Based on the results of the control chart, it was concluded that the loss of pressed waste oil at the press station had an average of 0.69% which was still under control, namely UCL (Upper Control Limit) 0.81% and LCL (Lower Control Limit) 0.59%. However, the average oil loss is still above the company's norm of 0.52%. The Fishbone Diagram is used to identify various potential causes that cause loss of waste oil at press stations, including human resources, methods and machines.

Abstract

Nata de coco is a product resulting from a fermentation process from coconut water with the help of Acetobacter xylinum. To increase the functional value and taste of nata de coco, you can add red dragon fruit extract. This study aims to evaluate the chemical and sensory properties of nata de coco which did not have dragon fruit extract added (P0) and nata de coco which had dragon fruit extract added (P1). Parameters for observing chemical properties include water content, protein, vitamin C and fiber. Sensory evaluation was carried out using a hedonic test using 30 panelists, the parameters observed were aroma, texture, taste and color. Based on the results of the evaluation of the chemical and sensory properties of nata de coco to which dragon fruit extract was added, it can be concluded that the addition of dragon fruit extract can increase protein levels (1.57%) and vitamin C (0.25%), and reduce water content (93.16%) and fiber content (1.20%). Meanwhile, the hedonic test showed that the panelists preferred the texture, aroma and taste parameters of nata de coco without adding dragon fruit extract. In terms of color parameters, panelists preferred nata de coco with added dragon fruit extract.
