Abstract

Background: Lecture is a dominant learning method that still used in teaching process. This method only focuses to lecturer and does not involving students’ participation enough. Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a learning method that could activate students’ participation, but it has many obstacles on its implementation. Asynchronous blended problem-based learning (ABLE PBL) is an innovative learning method that adopts (Problem Based Learning) PBL learning principles and it is expected to reduce problems in implementing PBL. This study was conducted to analyze the students’ knowledge between ABLE PBL method and lecture and to describe students’ perceptions towards ABLE PBL.Methods: A modified crossover design was conducted to determine students’ knowledge and descriptive study for students’ perception among a total sampling of 44 students who enrolled the third semester at Departement of Midwifery, Diploma Program at Dharma Husada Bandung Health College. It used Mann Whitney test to analyze students’ knowledge to each chapterResult: The result showed that there is no difference significantly of students’ knowledge between two groups for both chapters, ABLE PBL does not influence students’ knowledge but students’s perception about ABLE PBL is positive because the respondent experienced new method of learning. Conclusion: In conclusion, there are no differences between two groups significantly for each chapter with p value bigger than 0.05, yet ABLE PBL could give a positve perception to students.

Abstract

Background: Terpenoid isolate sarang semut (Myrmecodia pendans) is a natural material that has antibacterial power through the destruction of the cell membrane of Streptoccus mutans (S. mutans). Fructosiltransferase (ftf) is one of the extrapolisaccharides produced by S. mutans. The formation of Ftf is governed by the ftf gene. The aim of research was to know the correlation between terpenoid of Sarang semut administration with ftf mRNA expression of S. mutans biofilm ATCC 25175.Method: The study used mixed methods, namely descriptive explorative method to look at the isolation of ftf gene and ftf mRNA expression. This study began with making 1 day biofilm , then given terpenoid isolates of sarang semut and chlorhexidine. Next, isolation of ftf genes and ftf mRNA expression was carried out, then the differences in S. mutans ATCC 25175 mRNA ftf expression in sarang semut and chlorhexidine were given for 1 and 30 minutes using Real-Time PCR. Continued by looking at the relationship of the duration of administration of sarang semut terpenoids to the expression of S. mutans ATCC 25175 mRNA ftf biofilm. Statistical analysis used the t test with p-value <0.05 and Pearson.Results: The results showed that ftf gene with 130 bp length and ftf mRNA expression could be isolated from S. mutans biofilm ATCC 25175 which were given terpenoid isolates from sarang semut. The expression of sarang semut mRNA ftf and chlorhexidine did not have a significant difference for 1 minute (p = 0.0761), whereas in 30 minutes the ant nest had a higher mRNA expression (p = 0.0186). There is a relationship between the duration of administration of terpenoid isolates of sarang semut with S. mutans ATCC 25175 mRNA ftf expression (r2 = 0.614), with a medium correlation coefficient.Conclusion: The conclusion of the study were that sarang semut terpenoid had the same effect as chlorhexidine for 1 minute on S. mutans biofilms, whereas at 30 minutes it was different. There is a relationship between terpenoids of sarang semut isolates and S. mutans biofilm ATCC 25175 mRNA expression.

Abstract

Childhood sex education is the process of giving an understanding to the child about his body condition, the opposite sex and understanding how to avoid sexual violence. Knowledge and attitudes of parents about early childhood sex education will influence parenting life. Flashcard KIPAS Anak (Instant Sex Education Card for Children) can be used as a means to convey messages widely to mothers.  This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of flashcard in improving mother's knowledge and attitudes on early childhood sex education. The study used quasi-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design with the intervention using flashcard. Samples in this study were 65 of mothers who have preschool children aged 4-6 years and sampling by simple random sampling. The instrument was a knowledge and attitude questionnaire. Flashcard is validated by 1 media expert and 1 psychologist. The Wilcoxon test, there was a significant difference in mother’s knowledge and attitude on sex education of preschool children after intervention using flashcard (p value <0.001 and p<0.001). There is no significant increase of knowledge on the characteristics of age and education of mothers. Significant increasing knowledge on maternal employment with p<0,05. The correlation between attitude and age, occupation and education there were no significant differences. There was a significant increase in the knowledge and attitudes of mothers regarding early childhood sex education after the use of flashcard (KIPAS Anak). Abstrak Pendidikan seks anak usia dini adalah proses memberikan pemahaman kepada anak tentang kondisi tubuhnya, lawan jenis, dan memahami cara menghindari kekerasan seksual. Pengetahuan dan sikap orang tua tentang pendidikan seks anak usia dini akan mempengaruhi pola asuh dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Flashcard KIPAS Anak (Kartu Pendidikan Seks Instan Anak) dapat digunakan sebagai sarana penyampaian pesan kepada para ibu secara luas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan penerapan flashcard dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap ibu tentang pendidikan seks anak usia dini. Penelitian ini menggunakan quasi-eksperimental one group pre-test dan post-test design dengan perlakuan menggunakan flashcard. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 65 ibu yang memiliki anak prasekolah usia 4-6 tahun dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner pengetahuan dan sikap. Flashcard divalidasi oleh 1 ahli media dan 1 psikolog. Uji statistik menggunakan Wilcoxon, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada pengetahuan dan sikap ibu tentang pendidikan seks anak usia dini setelah perlakuan menggunakan flashcard (p value <0.001 dan p <0.001). Tidak ada peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan pada variabel karakteristik usia dan pendidikan ibu. Peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan terjadi pada variabel pekerjaan ibu dengan p <0,05. Hubungan antara sikap dan usia, pekerjaan dan pendidikan ibu tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan. Terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada pengetahuan dan sikap ibu tentang pendidikan seks anak usia dini setelah penggunaan flashcard (KIPAS Anak).
