Abstract

The distribution of zakat to ultra-micro (UMi) business actors, such as Mustahik (people entitled to receive zakat), faces the problem of limited assistance. The Community Service (P2M) aims to minimize failures in the distribution of zakat and ensure that it is used for productive, sustainable, and on-target businesses. The next goal is to increase the quantity and quality of UMi management. The methods used are training, follow-up assistance, monitoring, and evaluation. Partners are UMi actors who receive zakat from the Baitulmal Ummat Islam Foundation Bank Negara Indonesia (BAMUIS BNI). The result of P2M is that previously, there was no assistance in the zakat distribution model. The positive impact is that this assistance increases the accuracy of targeting zakat recipients from the UMi group. This is based on qualitative analysis from the results of interviews with UMi and BAMUIS BNI. The increase in targeting indicates that the Mustahik from UMi are based on recommendations from indigent letters from neighborhood and citizen associations, so they are not concentrated in just a few families, as was the case previously. Another improvement in the distribution model is the absence of brokers, which is often found, unavoidably, without assistance. Another significant impact is that Mustahik receives 100% of the zakat funds directly to the account concerned without any deductions. The mentoring model also equips UMi with various skills training and consultations needed daily to run a business in the era of digital competition. The training includes marketing management, halal production, hygiene, occupational health, and safety.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) continue to face significant competitive pressures in an increasingly dynamic market environment, requiring sustainable and niche-based strategies to strengthen their competitiveness. This condition is experienced by CheekMe Mie Sehat, Kuliner Warteg Kalkul Bahari, and the Mustika Farmer Group (fostered partners of YARSI University) which have encountered business stagnation and difficulties in scaling up, particularly in product innovation, marketing, business governance, and compliance with quality standards. In response, a competitiveness enhancement model was developed and implemented through a combination of training and non-training interventions. The activities were conducted from November to December 2024 and included workshops, talk show sessions, certification assistance, laboratory testing, and the provision of digital and production infrastructure. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated using pre-test and post-test measurements, participant engagement, and observed improvements in business practices. The results indicate a measurable increase in participants’ knowledge, skills, and institutional capacity, demonstrating that an integrated and multidimensional approach can effectively enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of MSMEs in the food industry and urban farming sector.

Abstract

Economists argue that positivism refers to science and economic activities should be value-free. This means that the norm variable is not included as a variable that has an important meaning for both output and production input. This is not the case with Islamic economics, which firmly states that economic activity is bound to value or is not value-free. This research aims to show evidence of shirkah or profit-sharing contracts and to dissect how elements of values and ethics accompany the business activities of Indonesian farming communities. The method used is a qualitative approach with case study techniques. Literature studies are also used to strengthen the validation and triangulation stages. This research shows that Shirkah contracts are found in agricultural activities in various regions in Indonesia, including those known as maro (50:50), mertelu (1:3), etc. Shirkah, as one of the contracts in Sharia finance, is an actual implementation of enforcing norms and ethics. The Shirkah contract manages the risks inherent in all business cycles, both during profits and losses, which is typical in all sectors. Shirkah contracts systematically work and control competition and business risks with an ethical and normative approach. The Shirkah contract also suppresses economic injustice and unequal distribution of resources and business profits. The domino effect of the values of the sharia contract is not only limited to production-sharing agreements between sharecroppers and land owners but also spreads to the spirit values of sale and purchase (Murabaha) and rental (ijarah) agreements and includes broad implications for all aspects life. Farmers and cultivators are actively involved in upholding the values of justice, risk sharing, and togetherness in facing the cycle of profit and loss that automatically occurs as a lifestyle. Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the effects of service quality, service convenience, religious motivation, and customer satisfaction on word-of-mouth (WOM) behavior in Indonesian Islamic banking. It also investigates whether religious motivation moderates the relationship between customer satisfaction and WOM.Methodology – A quantitative approach was employed using purposive sampling of Islamic bank customers who had maintained an active account for at least one year. Data were collected from 195 respondents and analyzed using WarpPLS 6.0 to assess the measurement and structural models and test the proposed hypotheses.Findings – The results demonstrate that service quality and service convenience significantly enhance customer satisfaction. Furthermore, service quality, religious motivation, and customer satisfaction have significant positive effects on WOM behavior. However, service convenience does not directly influence WOM, and religious motivation does not moderate the relationship between customer satisfaction and WOM. These findings indicate that customer satisfaction is the primary driver of customers’ willingness to recommend Islamic banks, regardless of their level of religious motivation.Implications – Islamic banks should prioritize improving service quality and sustaining customer satisfaction to encourage positive WOM and strengthen customer advocacy. Although religious motivation does not strengthen the satisfaction–WOM relationship, reinforcing Sharia values remains an important strategy for differentiating Islamic banks in an increasingly competitive market.Originality – This study extends the Islamic banking literature by examining the moderating role of religious motivation in the customer satisfaction–WOM relationship, an area that has received limited empirical attention. Unlike previous studies emphasizing customer loyalty and behavioral intention, this study identifies WOM as a distinct and important behavioral outcome in the Islamic banking context.

Abstract

Fig cultivation is a hobby-based economic activity that can help families in Cimanggis District, Depok City, West Java, meet their income needs. The overall goal of this activity is to teach retirees how to do it. Figs (Tin) were chosen because of their high social and economic value as well as their simplicity and low seed costs. To produce tangible benefits, such as economic benefits and standardized and high-value products, this activity is carried out through a plant cultivation training process guided by competent resource persons. This activity specifically aims to equip retirees with the necessary knowledge and skills to grow fig plants and produce figs. In addition, when this activity is practiced, the target output will be met. Among them are activity posters, activity videos posted on social media sites such as YouTube, YARSI TV, and Facebook, online articles in print media such as newspapers and magazines, as well as articles in online community service journals with an ISSN. Based on the findings of field research, the majority of the population aged over 55 years still shows high enthusiasm and activity productivity. Abstract

Indonesia's economic growth between 2017-2023 experienced increasing instability, influenced by various factors, including the pandemic. This condition adversely affected the financial performance of most industries, with many reporting significant losses. However, the consumer goods manufacturing sector demonstrated greater resilience compared to other sectors. This study posits that changes in financial performance influence firm value, which in turn affects stock price movements. As such, firm value is considered a critical indicator for investors in making investment decisions, as it reflects a firm's prospects and sustainability. This study aims to examine the effects of profitability, leverage, and firm size on firm value, with sales growth as a moderating variable, among manufacturing companies in the consumer goods sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) during the 2017–2023 period. A quantitative research approach was employed, using panel data regression analysis in e-Views 12. The study population comprised 52 companies, of which 28 were purposively selected, yielding 168 observations. The findings reveal that profitability, leverage, and firm size simultaneously affect firm value. Partially, profitability and sales growth do not have a significant effect on firm value, whereas leverage and firm size do.
