Abstract

Abstract

This research focuses on students' language learning in 5th grade primary school. The research project examines on the language learning of 5th grade primary school learners.  The focus is to compare the linguistic skill of male and female learners by taking retelling stories using Indonesian language.  The factor used in this research is grammatical cohesion analysis which examines all grammatical aspects which includes sentence, clause, grammatical errors, emotive word, and interference. Data was gained through a controlled observation and analysed using the contrasting descriptive method which looks how male and female learners construct sentences and clauses, as well as the grammar mistakes they make.  5th grade male learners of Integrated Islamic Elementary School Al Abidin Surakarta were discovered to be more proficient in using Indonesian than female students were. Female students tend to make fewer grammatical errors than male learners when reciting Indonesian stories.  Male learners, on the other hand, are more imaginative and use emotive language frequently, indicating that male learners are more expressive while telling stories.  According to the data, male learners were more proficient in using Indonesian than female learners.  When narrating stories, female learners make fewer errors in grammar.  It also shows a lack of emotional connection.  It may be fair to say that male learners’ proficiency in telling stories is better than the female learners’ due to their expressiveness in telling the language but female learners are more structured in producing their language

Abstract

The use of digital tools in English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms is growing rapidly, but systematic evidence of what students really need from technology-based learning is still limited. As a result, curriculum developers often choose digital resources based on availability, rather than the results of the diagnosis. This study analyzes the need to prepare a syllabus and lesson plan based on the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. Using an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design, data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire of 214 EFL high school students, a focus group discussion with 18 student representatives, a semi-structured interview with nine English teachers, and a document analysis of twelve syllabus and forty-five lesson plans. Quantitative data are analyzed with descriptive statistics (mean, frequency, percentage); Qualitative data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. Results showed prominent difficulties in listening and speaking skills (M = 4.21 and 4.05 on a difficulty scale of 1-5), strong preference for interactive video and mobile-based learning (61% combined), as well as large gaps between teachers' current TPACK practices and student expectations, especially in the integrated TPACK dimension (teachers M = 2.2 versus student expectations M = 4.7). These findings are synthesized into a curriculum blueprint that positions technology as a pedagogical mediator, not a substitute for content. This study contributes a replicable empirical procedure for translating needs analysis data into a TPACK-based curriculum document, while offering methodological templates and substantive design principles for EFL syllabus developers.

Abstract

Anemia is a common health problem among female adolescents due to inadequate nutrient intake, particularly protein and iron (Fe). Effective nutrition education is essential to improve knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to optimal nutritional intake. One method that can be applied is the Snakes and Ladders game. This study aims to examine the impact of nutrition education through the Snakes and Ladders game on knowledge, attitudes, and protein and iron intake among eleventh-grade female adolescents at SMAN 1 Menggala. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The sample consisted of 67 eleventh-grade female students divided into control and intervention groups. The control group received educational material using PowerPoint, while the intervention group received PowerPoint presentations combined with the Snakes and Ladders game. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. A significant increase in knowledge was observed (), whereas no significant impact was found on attitudes (). Significant increases were recorded for both protein consumption () and iron consumption (). Overall, the intervention group demonstrated greater score improvements compared to the control group. The use of the Snakes and Ladders game for nutrition education effectively enhances knowledge as well as protein and iron intake among female adolescents. This media serves as an engaging and easy-to-understand educational alternative to help reduce anemia in adolescents.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between eating habits and food presentation with food acceptance in the free nutritious meal program at SMPN 36 Bandar Lampung in 2025. The background of this study is the importance of good eating habits and attractive food presentation to improve students' food acceptance, thereby ensuring the program runs effectively. The study used a cross-sectional design with 88 respondents selected through total sampling. Eating habits data were collected using a questionnaire, food presentation was assessed through an observation sheet, while acceptance was measured using the food residue weighing method. Analysis included univariate analysis for frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most students had good eating habits (59.1%), rated food presentation as sufficiently appealing (58.0%), and had good food acceptance (56.8%). Bivariate test results showed no significant relationship between eating habits and food acceptability (p > 0.05), but there was a significant relationship between food presentation and acceptability (p < 0.05). In conclusion, food presentation influences acceptability, while eating habits do not. It is recommended that program managers pay attention to the visual aspects, aroma, and portion sizes of food to support program success.

Abstract

The increasingly digital lifestyle among university students has the potential to influence dietary behavior, even among those with good nutrition knowledge. This study is important to evaluate the extent to which screen time and nutritional knowledge are associated with dietary habits among nutrition students. The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between screen time and nutrition knowledge with food consumption habits among students of the Nutrition Study Program at Mitra Indonesia University. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design involving 71 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires in May 2025 and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that most respondents had high screen time (98.6%), moderate nutritional knowledge (57.7%), and poor dietary habits (47.9%). Statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between screen time (p=0.323) or nutritional knowledge (p=0.133) and dietary habits. In conclusion, neither nutrition knowledge nor screen time duration sufficiently influences healthy eating behaviors among students. Recommended Behavior-based interventions and more practical nutrition education strategies are needed to improve dietary patterns in the digital age.

Abstract

Fresh milk is a highly nutritious beverage but has relatively low antioxidant activity, thus requiring development into a functional food. Fortification with mistletoe leaf extract (Dendrophthoe pentandra), which contains bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, phenols, and tannins, has the potential to enhance the functional value of milk. This study aimed to evaluate the sensory characteristics, nutritional composition, and antioxidant activity of fresh milk fortified with mistletoe leaf extract. This experimental research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments (F0–F4), namely 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 grams of extract per 100 mL of milk. Data were collected through a hedonic test involving 15–25 semi-trained panelists, proximate analysis (water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, ash), and antioxidant activity measurement using the DPPH method. The research was conducted from May to June 2025 at Mitra Indonesia University and the Laboratory of POLINELA. The results showed that fortification affected sensory attributes (especially taste and color) but maintained the nutritional quality according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 3141.1:2011). Antioxidant activity increased with higher extract concentrations, with the F2 formulation (4 grams) offering the best balance between sensory quality and antioxidant content. In conclusion, fortification of fresh milk with mistletoe leaf extract effectively improves its functional properties without compromising nutritional value. It is recommended that the F2 formulation be considered for further development of functional milk products based on natural ingredients.
