Abstract

Abstract

Da’wah activities are required to always adjust to the development and the needs of era, so dakwah can no longer be described just as doctrinal studes, but rather the strategy for bringing ummah to transform socially. Therefore, as part of Tri Dharma, universities should build a strong and adaptive curriculum to produce competent alumni in their fields. One of the strategies that need to be put forward is through mainstreaming scientific journals because today's publications are becoming vital points in assessing academic productivity, measuring the depth of a person's social analysis, or maintaining the credibility of an institution. To address this matter, Faculty of Da’wah and Communication UIN Sunan Kalijaga made a breakthrough by establishing a journals house at the faculty level. The effort is supported by the Department of Da'wah Management through several strategic steps such as: implementation of cultural and structural strategy through Jurnal MD, encouraging academic community to productively writing in accordance with their field and interest of the study, pouring lecturer and student activity into manuscript deserve to be published, and organize academic forums to obtain quality manuscript.

Abstract

Water is an irreplaceable element in the human life. Water security was alwayspursued by each country to ensure the prosperity of its people. But in fact, more thana third of the world’s population needs of fresh water are not fulfilled, both for drinkingand sanitation. So that’s why water security management is urgent to implement. That problem was happened in the Middle East region until today. As we know thatmost of the Middle East region is composed from the barren desert. Although underthe desert there are abundant of oil, but the water is a problem for most of the MiddleEast region. Middle East region needs a constant water supply approximately 127.5billion cubic meters per year. Such conditions involve in water scarcity and inter-stateconflicts caused by the water. Conflict in the struggle for water resources is difficult toavoid because the water needs in the Middle East region is bigger than the wateravailability. Those inter-state conflict involving various countries including Israel, Egypt,Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. Appropriate and equitable solutions shouldbe formulated and implemented, such as making water management agreement whichmust be agreed by all countries. Because if not addressed, the seizure of water resourcescan be lead to high tension, conflict, or even war in the Middle East region. Toelaborate the data, this research uses qualitative method, descriptive analysis approach, and emphasize on the literature study. Keywords: Water Security Management, Inter-State Conflict, Middle East

Abstract

Kata kunci: anak muda, kreativitas humor, kritik politik, stand-up comedy

Abstract

The Southern Philippines is known as one of the areas that never get out of conflict. Even in 2017 the public was shocked by the emergence of the Maute group in Marawi which affiliated with ISIS or Daesh transnational terrorists. They undertake a lot of human rights violations such as kidnapping and murder. In addition, terrorist groups that have existed before like Abu Sayyaf often operate by crossing several Southeast Asian countries waters boundary, so the problem is transformed into a regional issue. To face this problem, the Philippines government formed a Muslim special unit in their military power. On the one hand, it’s has a positive impact: (1) Religious and cultural approach will open up a larger dialogue space compared to a conventional military approach; (2) More adaptable and diffuse to gain local community support; and (3) Greatly facilitate coordination and cooperation with the military of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam as a country with Muslim majority population. But on the other hand, it’s also has a negative impact: (1) Potential emergence of factions within the military or gap between the Muslim units with other soldier; and (2) Reinforcing the stigma that Muslims are terrorists and must be fought with hard-core Muslim behind military uniform.

Abstract

The term world class university is becoming a trending topic in the tertiary education environment in Indonesia. Not wanting to be left behind in these carriages, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University in Yogyakarta has declared itself to be a world class university in Islamic studies. The ideal position continues to be socialized to the entire academic communities. One of the study programs that take the vision seriously is the Da'wah Management Study Program under the auspices of the Da'wah and Communication Faculty. This study program continues to boost efforts to internationalize institutions through a variety of academic and collaborative activities. But the question is whether the external strengthening has been balanced with internal reinforcement, in this case the service management and the campus bureaucratics reform. Based on this, further questions arise about how students' positions as service users, are treated as customers or citizens. This research uses a qualitative method and a descriptive approach. The results of comparative analysis based on New Public Management and New Public Service theories show that in service management and bureaucratic reform in the Da'wah Management Study Program, students are treated more as citizens, not as customers. This can be seen from several points of findings such as: (1) services are not based on individual interests, but overall students are based on the principle of equality, (2) service delivery is conducted in a fair manner in this case not interpreted as equal to absolute, but in accordance with conditions and needs or prioritizing inclusiveness, (3) service is not market-oriented where study programs open as wide a negotiation space as possible for each student interest, provide access and response to various student complaints, and (4) pay attention to multiple aspects of service such as accountability in law, community values, political norms, professional standards, and fulfilling the interests of students as citizens.

Abstract

Pattani is not a single representation of the Islamic existence in Thailand, because in reality Muslim societies have been living in various regions. One place where Muslim societies can form new identities is in the Nakhon Si Thammarat province, where they are able to transform into an adaptive and highly competitive group. To examine more deeply this phenomenon, this study uses a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach, and emphasizes the interactive data analysis of the Miles and Huberman models. The results of field research show that one of the manifestations of Muslim existence is to establish Nakhon Si Thammarat Muslim Business Club (NMBC). In its existence, NMBC has two main functions: First, to bridge and unite the power of Muslim entrepreneurs from micro to large scale. Secondly, to become a da’wah institution on Islamic philanthropy based on the belief that the more charity, the more business will develop. NMBC gives direction to the development of Muslim entrepreneurship in two ways: First, positioning the majority group as partners, not competitors. Second, to strengthen the Blue Ocean strategy in which Muslim entrepreneurs must find new business sector gaps that are not controlled by the majority group.

Abstract

Religious counselors are the spearhead profession in the spread of religion while representing the government in delivering religious and development programs in the national and local level. They are not only consist of civil servants (PNS) employees, but also non-civil servants (non-PNS) employees. For those who already have PNS status, their careers are generally more certain and in a safe position. On the contrary, for those with non-PNS status, they are in a dilemma. On the one hand, their existence really has important meaning in the midst of the rise of various religious issues. But on the other hand, they are in a stagnant career condition, there is no career certainty and lack of attention compared to the PNS. Therefore, basically it is necessary to empower non-PNS religious counselor. The research result shows that the government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs actively has attempted to empower non-PNS religious counselor with the Islamic Information Information Management System and the E-PAI application. In addition the government has made efforts such as training and coaching, examining performance reports, making clear guidelines or regulations, and upgrading the salary up to 100 percent. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative type and emphasizes on the study of literature.
