Abstract

One of the abrasion mitigations is mapping vulnerable areas through participatory mapping. Compared to conventional mapping, participatory mapping is considered more effective because, through this mapping, complete and detailed information will be obtained relatively quickly. However, given the limitations of the community, the participatory mapping process must be carried out through empowerment. Participatory mapping is one part of disaster education for the community. This research will provide disaster education through socialization and training on participatory mapping of GIS-based abrasion-prone areas in Sarang District, Rembang Regency based on community empowerment through a mixed-methods approach. The techniques used in data collection are interview, observation, questionnaire, a document study, and FGD techniques. The results show that this research has carried out participatory mapping based on community empowerment through preparation, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring stages. The results of participatory mapping are the active involvement of the community physically and mentally, the formation of a map of the occurrence of abrasion, and increasing the capacity of knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of the community. The resulting maps can be used as recommendations to local governments and guidelines for local communities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the guided inquiry model and problem-based learning on the conceptual understanding of class VII A and VII K students of State Tsanawiyah Madrasa (MTs N) 3 Sragen on environmental pollution material. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a non equivalent control group design. After being treated with the guided inquiry model, the average of students' learning outcomes was 89.5, while the problem-based learning model was 88.3. To prove that there is an effect of the two models on students' conceptual understanding, a paired sample t-test was conducted, in which the two classes showed a significance <0.05 so that H1 was accepted or H0 was rejected. Its means that the two models influence students' conceptual understanding of environmental pollution material. The guided inquiry model in this study has a higher impact than problem-based learning. These results are also supported by the N-Gain score on the guided inquiry model, which is higher than the problem-based learning model with scores of 0.67 and 0.53, respectively. Both N-Gain scores are in the “medium” improvement category.

Abstract

The shore erosion in Rembang District during 2003-2014 resulted in huge losses. This study was conducted in the Coastal District of Kragan because of frequent shore erosion. Coastal of Sumurtawang and Kragan have erosion. Coastal of Pandangan Wetan, Balongmulyo, and Tanjungan are stable due to the construction of a small port in the village of Karanganyar which affects the surrounding area. The capacity of indigenous knowledge is as high as local wisdom, perception and attitude of the community in handling shore erosion. Coping strategies is also as high as the value of human capital, social, financial, natural, and physical. There is a correlation between community capacity variables, it means that if the capacity of indigenous knowledge is high, then the coping strategies is also high. But, the capacity of indigenous knowledge does not significantly affect the coping strategies. The relation of these capacities determines the priority of settlement.

Abstract

The intolerance symptoms in several regions of Indonesia are increasingly worrying as transnational actions proliferate. However, in some remote villages of Java island, cultural and Islamic spiritual capitals are still found, manifested through various local pearls of wisdom in performing arts, as seen in the Cacaban community, Singorojo, and Kendal Regency. Skills can be used as media for cross-cultural dialogues between Islam and Java to build harmony. This study examines the debate between Islamic values and Javanese cultures to find an accommodative model of acculturation between Islam and Javanese wisdom in cultivating the values of tolerance in moderate religious life. This study implements a qualitative-ethnographic-interpretive approach based on the phenomenological hermeneutic paradigm. It shows that the patterns of cross-cultural dialogue in Cacaban Kendal society are carried out through Jaran Kepang, Karawitan, and Wayang Orang performances. Meanwhile, the reproduction of cultural acculturation is found explicitly in the praxis of life in the form of world views; beliefs or ideology; social attitudes; rites or ceremonies; social principles, norms, and regulations; habits, and behavior in social interactions. The internalization of the tolerance system can be categorized into three main principles, namely: (1) the principle of religious freedom, (2) the principle of respect for the existence of other religions, and (3) the principle of freedom in doing good things and being fair to everyone.

Abstract

Development which has been oriented towards the growth paradigm so far has been applied in Indonesia, apart from having produced a number of significant changes, there have also been a number of dark portraits that have contributed to worsening the image of development with the above orientation. The benefits of development are more widely felt by the upper strata of society, so that the gap in social and economic inequality is widening. The growth orientation only encourages the development of large-scale businesses and industries, resulting in a widening gap between small and micro scale enterprises (SMEs) and large medium enterprises (UMB). This Lecturer Service Work aims to provide assistance to the community in Jambean Kalibeber Mojotengah Wonosobo based on local potential. The implementation of the Lecturer Service Work program uses the following approaches: a group-based approach and a family-based approach. The results of the dedication show that: 1) community development work is not an ad hoc activity, but an ongoing activity, so as to build productive and sustainable social cohesiveness in the long term, 2) Integrated village community development is an effort to carry out social change that emphasizes multi sectoral, by prioritizing local participation and bottom-up planning
