Abstract

Abstract

Melinjo peel (Gnetum gnemon L.) is an agricultural by-product that is generally underutilized, despite its high content of flavonoid compounds with potential antioxidant activity. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of ethanol and ethyl acetate as extraction solvents for flavonoids from melinjo peel based on differences in solvent polarity. Extraction was carried out using the maceration method, followed by quantitative analysis using spectrophotometry. Sample preparation involved drying and pulverizing the melinjo peel, extraction with ethanol and ethyl acetate at a material-to-solvent ratio of 1:10, phytochemical screening, thin-layer chromatography analysis, preparation of a quercetin calibration curve, and determination of total flavonoid content. Total flavonoid content was determined through the formation of a complex with aluminum chloride, and absorbance was measured at a wavelength of approximately 430 nm. Statistical analysis was conducted to evaluate differences between the two solvents. The results demonstrated that the ethanol extract produced a higher total flavonoid content (51.86 mg quercetin equivalent per gram of extract) compared to the ethyl acetate extract (46.05 mg quercetin equivalent per gram). The higher extraction efficiency of ethanol is attributed to its greater polarity, which enhances the solubilization of polar flavonoid compounds. In conclusion, ethanol is a more effective solvent than ethyl acetate for extracting flavonoids from melinjo peel, and these findings support the potential utilization of melinjo peel as a natural source of bioactive compounds for applications in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries.

Abstract

Dandruff is one of the problems that cause a lack of confidence. The triggering microorganism is Candida albicans. The innovation in the skin of red dragon fruit has the potential as an antibacterial and antifungal because it contains several active compounds such as alkaloids, terpenoids and flavonoids. This study aims to find out at what concentration the anti-dandruff activity on the growth of Candida albicans fungus in the formulation of dragon fruit peel extract shampoo preparation (Hylocereus polyrhizus). This research method is an experimental research using the disc paper diffusion method which consists of making dragon fruit peel extract with the maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. The extract is formulated in shampoo with concentrations of 20.40 and 80%. The results of this study were in the organoleptis test in the form of a viscous liquid, soft sticky texture, brown and menthol flavor. pH test 6.13, 6.71, 6.39, 5.49. Test the height of the foam 5.8cm, 6.0cm, 6.5cm, 10.3cm. Viscosity test 500 Cp, 612 Cp, 635 Cp, 624 Cp. Homogeneity test is homogeneous. Anti-dandruff shampoo activity test of kontro (+), control (-), concentration of 20%, 40%, 80% with an average of 21.95 mm, 0.00 mm, 22.9 mm, 26.07 mm, 28.52 mm. The conclusion of this study is that the formulation of dragon fruit peel extract shampoo (Hylocereus polyrhizus) has provided an inhibitory effect on the growth of Candida albicans fungus with the strongest inhibitory concentration produced in formulation III with a concentration of 80% of 28.52 mm.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical service is direct and responsible service to patients related to pharmaceutical preparations to improve the quality of life of the patients. One of the health service facilities is the hospital. Hospitals are required to provide quality services for the creation of a satisfaction. Satisfaction is closely related to the expected service and the reality of service that has been given. Therefore it is necessary to measure patient satisfaction to see how far the services provided in accordance with the expectations of patients. The research is using deskriptif prospektif metode and using purposive sampling technique. The study was conducted in February 2020, by giving a questionnaire to the visiting patients and having receivedpharmaceutical services at the "x" hospital in Sidoarjo. Able to communicated well, used Indonesian, willing to be interviewed with the provisions of 18 years old, 19-45 years old and ≥46 years old. The perception of patients satisfied about the tangible of 72%, emphaty indicator of 66% with satisfied categories, and reability indicator of 67% with satisfied categories so the average percentage of overall out patient BPJS satisfaied. The conclusion of this research is that the services provided in the installation of the "x" pharmacy to patients are categorized as well.
