Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between fish consumption patterns and stunting in toddlers in Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The study design uses a cross-sectional approach with cluster sampling techniques in two areas with the highest (Patuk 1) and lowest (Purwosari) prevalence of stunting. The total sample consisted of 309 toddlers aged 6–59 months, comprising 201 respondents in Patuk 1 and 108 in Purwosari. Independent variables included fish consumption frequency, portion size, fish type, and sociodemographic factors such as family income, maternal education, number of children, infectious diseases, sanitation, and area of residence. Data analysis was performed using logistic regression with Stata 14 software to identify factors significantly associated with stunting. The results showed that fish type was significantly associated with stunting, while frequency and portion size of consumption were not significantly associated. Other factors significantly associated with stunting were the mother's education level, number of children, and history of infectious diseases. Meanwhile, income, area of residence, and sanitation did not show a significant relationship. These findings confirm that the quality of fish consumed by toddlers has a greater impact on the risk of stunting than the frequency or portion size of consumption. Maternal education and child health are key protective factors. The results of this study are expected to form the basis for policies to increase consumption of nutritious fish and family nutrition education as strategies for preventing stunting based on local foods

Abstract

This article examines the regulatory coherence and accountability of Indonesia’s National Health Insurance (JKN) within the framework of constitutional and administrative law. It addresses two principal legal questions: whether the JKN regulatory structure demonstrates hierarchical consistency within Indonesia’s system of laws, and whether its governance design particularly in relation to the referral system and the arrears regime complies with principles of legal certainty, proportionality, and accountability. Using a doctrinal legal approach supported by stakeholder mapping through the MACTOR framework, the study evaluates both normative structure and institutional interaction. The findings indicate that the JKN framework is formally consistent with constitutional mandates and statutory delegation under the SJSN Law and the BPJS Law. However, horizontal regulatory harmonization remains incomplete, particularly regarding the interaction between hospital classification regulations and BPJS referral policies. Moreover, the arrears enforcement mechanism, while legally grounded in mandatory participation, lacks sufficiently clear criteria to distinguish inability to pay from non-compliance. The study concludes that targeted amendments to implementing regulations and the establishment of formal administrative dispute-resolution mechanisms are necessary to strengthen proportional enforcement, regulatory coherence, and institutional accountability within the JKN system.

Abstract

Sangiran Tourism Village is administratively located in Krikilan Village, Kalijambe District, Sragen Regency. The location selection is purposive because Sangiran Tourism Village is located in Sragen Regency and has abundant potential in the form of heritage and ecology tourism. Another thing that supports the choice of location is that Sangiran Tourism Village is located in the Sangiran Ancient Human Site tourist complex, which is an international-class tourism resort and has been designated as a cultural heritage site by UNESCO. It is supposed that the tourism and creative industry potential in Sangiran Tourism Village can be developed further. In that case, it is expected that it will be able to improve the welfare and economy of the community, especially in Krikilan Village. The main problems in the Sangiran tourism village community are: a) There needs to be an introduction to science and technology related to the procurement of souvenirs that can be the mainstay of the region. b) There is no science and technology related to making souvenir designs that can arouse their creativity c) Types of souvenirs that are not in demand by visitors and relatively expensive in prices d) Marketing that still needs to be more extensive to increase sellers' income. This triggered the service team to analyze the situation faced by the Sangiran community so as to find a point of discovery to hold training and assistance in making souvenirs. Community service in the context of community empowerment in Sangiran Tourism Village was carried out with the following objectives: a) Providing insight into souvenirs, including making models, b) introducing and providing training on designing alternative souvenirs, especially those that are typical of the Sangiran area. c) Assisting in making designs and models d) Assisting in the marketing of souvenirs that have been successfully produced.

Abstract

Objective: The study examines the financial and social performance of microfinance institutions (MFIs) and assesses whether digitalization and its interaction with institution size are associated with operational self-sufficiency and outreach. Method: The analysis uses an unbalanced panel from the MIX Marker database. The descriptive output covers 1999-2019 and contains up to 20,120 institution-year observations. Fixed-effects panel regressions are reported for operational self-sufficiency (OSS) and the number of active borrowers (NAB), with profitability, loan volume, capital adequancy, funding structure, proverty outreach, total assets, and digitalization as explanatory variables. Result: Return on assets in positively associated with OSS, while loan volume is strongly associated with NAB. A higher depositto-loan ratio is linked to stronger OSS. The share of cliencts below the proverty line is positively associated with OSS but negatively associated with NAB. The direct digitalization coefficient and the digitalization-total-assests interaction are statistically insignificant in the reported models. Novelty: The study separates financial sustainability from social outreach and test whether digital maturity changes the size-performance relationship in an international MFI panel. The result show that digital adoption alone does not guarantee stronger double-bottom-line performance.

Abstract

Cultural poverty in developing societies often emerges from adherence to traditional practices that impose significant economic burdens on communities. In Batak Toba society, the sinamot (bride price) tradition has evolved from a symbolic gesture of respect into a status marker, creating substantial financial pressures on families. While culturally significant within the dalihan na tolu kinship system, contemporary sinamot practices frequently exceed families' economic capabilities, potentially perpetuating cycles of poverty. This study examines how the sinamot tradition contributes to cultural poverty formation in Batak Toba communities and explores community perceptions regarding this phenomenon. The research contributes to understanding cultural poverty as a product of culturally sanctioned practices rather than character deficiencies, offering insights for developing culturally sensitive poverty alleviation approaches. This qualitative study employed a phenomenological approach, conducting in-depth interviews with seven informants including married couples, parents, and traditional leaders aged 40-65 years, with data analyzed using NVivo 12 Pro software following Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings reveal that sinamot functions dually as both a symbol of honor (hasangapon) and an economic burden, with three primary mechanisms driving cultural poverty: social pressure to maintain high sinamot values as markers of family status, consumerist tendencies in wedding celebrations where families host grand events beyond their means, and compliance with traditional values motivated by fear of social sanctions. Sinamot amounts vary significantly based on bride's education level, ranging from IDR 10-15 million for high school graduates to IDR 20-150 million for master's degree holders, excluding additional celebration costs. Families frequently incur debts requiring two to three years to repay, limiting investments in education, health, and productive endeavors. The study identifies emerging shifts among younger generations adopting more realistic attitudes toward sinamot while maintaining cultural respect, and some traditional communities have begun simplifying ceremonial requirements. Theoretically, through Baudrillard's consumerism theory and Bourdieu's symbolic capital concept, traditional celebrations have transformed into arenas for symbolic consumption serving as social signifiers rather than authentic cultural expressions. Cultural poverty in Batak society emerges not from ignorance but from adherence to culturally legitimate practices, requiring dialogue between traditional leaders and communities to balance cultural preservation with economic sustainability.
