Abstract

This study aims to develop a STEM–Multirepresentation (STEM-MR) learning design for Mechanics and examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving undergraduate students’ problem-solving skills. The study employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE model. The participants were 37 undergraduate students in the Physics Education Study Program at Universitas Sriwijaya. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, observation sheets, student response questionnaires, interviews, documentation, and pretest–posttest assessments. The STEM-MR design was developed as a seven-phase learning model that integrates STEM inquiry with multirepresentational scaffolding to support problem-solving in Mechanics. The results showed that the design was highly valid, with an average expert validation score of 3.87 on a 4-point scale. It was also very practical, with with a practicality score of 91%. In terms of effectiveness, students’ average scores increased from 52.25% on the pretest to 78.50% on the posttest. The normalized gain was 0.55, which falls into the medium category, and the effect size was 2.53, indicating a very large effect. These findings show that the STEM-MR learning design is valid, practical, and effective for enhancing undergraduate students’ problem-solving skills in Mechanics.

Abstract

This study uses the Research and Development method which is applied to product assembly skills. This research targets the students of class XII TKR SMKN 1 Sungai Lilin. The research model used was Alessi & Trollip, while the validators came from experts in their respective fields related to this research: material, media, and language experts. This research has produced a valid, practical, and effective product on the product assembly skills e-job sheet to increase the effectiveness of Vocational High School students practice. Material professional validation acquired a rating of 87.2, media professional 87.1, and linguist 88.3 in order that the product evolved became a totally valid category, with a practicality degree of 83.4 labeled as very practical, and an e-job sheet with a powerful live worksheet for growing the meeting of items merchandise with a cost of tcount > ttabel, specifically 16.491 > 2.015 or sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an essential competency in 21st-century science learning that supports students in analyzing information, solving problems, and making evidence-based decisions. However, the profile of junior high school students' critical thinking skills on the topic of temperature and heat has not been comprehensively mapped using indicator-level diagnostic data. This study aims to describe the critical thinking profile of seventh-grade students at SMPN 4 Mesuji Makmur on the topic of temperature and heat, based on Ennis's (2011) five critical thinking aspects and 12 indicators, using a descriptive instrument supported by qualitative interview data. A quantitative descriptive approach supported by qualitative interview data was employed. Subjects comprised 94 seventh-grade students selected through total sampling. The instrument was a 25-item multiple-choice critical thinking test based on 12 Ennis (2011) indicators (2–3 items per indicator), validated by two expert lecturers through Content Validity Ratio (CVR ≥ 0.42), Product Moment correlation (r > 0.361), and Cronbach's Alpha reliability (α = 0.78). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, & Saldaña (2014). Results showed that the average critical thinking achievement was only 46.77% (SD = 8.43), in the low category (Arikunto, 2013), with 71 students (75.5%) in the low category, 18 students (19.1%) in the medium category, and 5 students (5.3%) in the high category. All five aspects were low: providing simple explanation (47.47%), building basic skills (43.94%), inferring (45.45%), providing advanced explanation (43.94%), and managing strategies and tactics (53.03%). Building basic skills and providing advanced explanation were the weakest aspects. These findings suggest the need for inquiry-based and practicum-oriented instruction specifically targeting observational reasoning and conceptual definition skills in temperature and heat learning.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Describe the influence of collaboration skills on the learning outcomes of global warming concepts for students at Alumnika Sains High School Palembang. Methodology: This type of research uses a qualitative descriptive method that aims to provide a description of collaboration skills and student learning outcomes in physics learning on global warming material. Data collection techniques in this research include direct observation, using research instruments in the form of rubric sheets and self-assessment collaborative research questionnaires. Main Findings: The results show that if the significance value of the correlation test is 0.752, which is greater than the general significance threshold value which is set at 0.05, then the conclusion is that there is no significant relationship between collaboration skills and learning outcomes of students in the sample. Novelty/Originality of this study: Adding a new perspective on how collaboration skills may not always be significantly correlated with learning outcomes on specific concepts such as global warming in Indonesian high school environments, provides an opportunity to explore other variables that may be more influential.
