Abstract

Abstract: Adolescents are a vulnerable group to facial skin problems due to hormonal changes and exposure to skincare information that is not always critically understood. This community service program aimed to enhance adolescents’ knowledge, skills, and independence in natural-based facial skincare. The activity was conducted at SMA Negeri and involved 15 students as participants. The methods included education through animated videos, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in preparing facial masks made from rice starch, yam bean, and oatmeal. Evaluation was carried out using a pre-test and post-test design to assess changes in participants’ understanding. The results showed an increase in total scores from 1290 in the pre-test to 1470 in the post-test, indicating an improvement of 180 points (12%). In addition to cognitive improvement, participants were able to independently perform all stages of facial mask preparation while applying safety principles. These findings suggest that integrating animated video-based education with practical learning is effective in improving adolescents’ knowledge and practical skills in natural facial skincare.

Abstract

Background: Fast food consumption among high school adolescents is higher due to limited knowledge about nutritious food, so they have a positive attitude towards fast food. This makes it important to research how to reduce the craze for fast food through education for teenagers. Aims: To identify whether there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes with fast food consumption habits in SMPN 8 Palangka Raya students. Methods: The research design used was correlation analysis with a cross-sectional approach, and the study population was all students of SMPN 8 Palangka Raya. The number of respondents was 100 students with a simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used a knowledge and attitude questionnaire, and the data that had been collected were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results:  The majority of students' knowledge in consuming fast food has good knowledge (71%) and the attitude of students in consuming fast food is mostly positive (97%). Based on Chi Square analysis, there is a no significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes about the habit of consuming fast food (ρ value > 0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study show that there is no relationship between knowledge and eating habits because knowledge is an internal factor and there are still many external factors that influence the selection of food and food consumption habits of each individual in determining and choosing food and consuming it which will shape behavior patterns and eating habits.  Future research could use a qualitative approach to further explore external factors influencing fast food consumption habits, such as peer influence, advertising, and family habits. Furthermore, intervention studies involving school-based nutrition education, media campaigns, and parental and community involvement could be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a multidimensional approach in changing fast food consumption habits in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Conventional tuberculosis screening is often limited by reporting delays and low accessibility. This study evaluates a digital solution to address this gap by integrating behavioral assessment and screening of two populations into a single community-based platform. The study aimed to evaluate the NOR TBC mobile app in identifying suspected tuberculosis cases and analyze the relationship between cognitive factors and preventive behaviors. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study followed STROBE guidelines. Using convenience sampling, 70 parents, were recruited. Data were collected via the app’s integrated modules for Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice and self-screening. App quality was validated using ISO 25010 and expert review. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-Square tests (p < 0.05). Results: The NOR TBC mobile identified 5.7% adult and 14.3% child presumptive TB cases. Technical evaluation rated the app as "Good" (76.67%), with expert validation confirming it as "Very Feasible" (60%) and "Feasible" (40%). Most respondents exhibited good knowledge (58.6%), positive attitudes (94.3%), and favorable behaviors (82.9%). Chi-square analysis showed significant associations: respondents with good knowledge were 4.2 times more likely to engage in tuberculosis prevention (p=0.012; OR=4.2), and those with positive attitudes had 3.8 times higher odds of favorable behavior (p=0.034; OR=3.8). Conclusion: The NOR TBC mobile application demonstrates strategic potential in strengthening community-level tuberculosis detection and improving health literacy. This digital innovation reaches vulnerable populations that may be missed by conventional surveillance. Further development and controlled trials are recommended to evaluate long-term effectiveness
