Abstract

The prevalence of allergies is increasing from year to year due to the modern lifestyle in society. The incidence of allergies was influenced by several factors, such as genetics, age, sex, diet, food type, and also environmental factors. Determination of IgE levels in adolescents and young adults is important because the incidence of allergy is highly reported in adolescents and young adults. This study was conducted to determine IgE levels in allergies among university students in Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. This observational study was conducted among diploma students of Medical Laboratory Technology, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. The data of characteristic subjects were collected by a self-administered questionnaire whereas data of IgE levels were collected by serum samples and measured by ELISA. A total of 23 students (4.35 % male and 95.65% female) were included. Seafood allergy (25%) were the commonest allergy among the students. Only 9% of subjects have combination allergies. The highest of IgE levels were 365 IU/mL.

Abstract

Nowadays, health care has turned out to be more technology-oriented. Today's technology is demanded to be practical and easy to use. The number of mobile devices based on the Android operating system has increased significantly based on data. The open-source nature of android helps in programming applications easily according to user requirements. The syringe pump is a medical device that functions to enter the medicinal fluid into the patient's body at a specific dose and time automatically in mL/hour. The syringe pump is generally equipped with an alarm. Alarms have a vital function to provide information to nurses or doctors on duty. Medical officers cannot hear alarms outside the patient monitoring room. This paper aims to design a syringe pump that is equipped with a NodeMCU8266 WiFi module to provide notifications via a smartphone so that nurses or doctors can know the alarm even though they are outside the patient monitoring room. So, this is expected can improve patient safety. In addition, this paper also aims to verify the size of the syringe against the drug flow rate. Based on the test results, the syringe pump can control the drug flow rate with a sensor accuracy of 0.0217 and an error rate of 0.6% at a target volume of 5mL. The syringe pump can also send alarm notifications to smartphones in real-time.

Abstract

Diarrhea is a circumstance when the body loses much fluid and electrolyte through feces. According to the data obtained by Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (2016), in 2015 there were 18 cases of healthemergency of diarrhea, spread over 11 provinces and 18 regencies/cities. There were 1.213 people who got the disease, 30 of them died. Partially, villagers treated diarrhea by drinking young coconut water. This research aimsto discover the effectiveness of several kinds of young coconut water as antimicrobials to bacteria that can causediarrhea (bacteria test) such as Escherichia coli. In this research the inhibitionof young coconut water sample toward above-mentioned bacteria was held. Besides, a phytochemical screeningtest was also conducted to find out the antimicrobial substances contained in young coconut water. The data of young coconut water antimicrobial testing toward Escherichia coli, wereanalyzed by employing analysis of varian (ANOVA) with F test on 95% confidence level. Data testing wasfollowed by Duncan test on 95% confidence level. Research results indicated that young coconut water had antimicrobial ability toward Escherichia coli. Based on the result ofphytochemical screening of the young coconut water (all treatments) it was only secondary metabolite tannins detected. All treatments (of the young coconut water) could inhibit tested bacteria. It is allegedly because thewater contained tannins. The water of green coconut (used as a traditional medicine) was an effective inhibitor of bacteria growth bacteri. On E. coli the inhibition zone diameter was 11,6 mm. Abstract

The presence of laboratory rats that are maintained and bred for laboratory purposes or laboratory observations is very necessary. The presence of endoparasite in laboratory rats will have an impact on the result of the research or laboratory observations. This study aims to detect helminth endoparasites in the liver of laboratory rats (Rattus norvegicus) from animal breeders in Banyumas and Purbalingga Districts. This research was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. A total of 52 laboratory rats were used in the study. Rats are killed with chloroform, liver surgery then identify the presence of worm larvae. Out of the 52 rats obtained, 7 (29.17%) from 24 laboratory rats in Banyumas District and 5 (17.86%) from 28 laboratory rats in Purbalingga District were infected with Taenia taeniaeformis. It is necessary to control helminth infections in laboratory rats, such as laboratory animal quarantine, health monitoring, and antihelmintic treatment. It is important to handle carefully during travel to assure the results of research or laboratory observations using the animals.

Abstract

Tuberkulosis merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh Mycobacterium tuberculosis yang menyerang organ paru. Adanya peradangan Tuberculosis didalam tubuh ditandai dengan respon inflamasi. Respon inflamasi didalam tubuh dapat didiagnosa melalui pemeriksaan C Reactive Protein sebagai respon anti infeksi imun didalam tubuh seseorang. Biasanya adanya peningkatan kadar C Reactive Protein mengindikasikan infeksi yang tidak terkontrol. Selain pemeriksaan tersebut, pemeriksaan penanda lainnya dapat dilihat dari pemeriksaan hematologi seperti hitung jenis neutrofil. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan kadar C Reactive Protein dengan jumlah neutrofil pada penderita tuberkulosis paru dengan fase pengobatan 0 dan 6 bulan di BKPM Kabupaten Banyumas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasional analitik dengan rancangan Cross-sectional. Kemudian sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 30 pasien tuberkulosis paru yang terdiri dari pasien fase pengobatan 0 dan 6 bulan. Terdapat hubungan kadar C Reactive Protein dengan jumlah neutrofil pada penderita tuberkulosis paru dengan fase pengobatan 0 dan 6 bulan (p = 0,014, r= 0,370)

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is still a health problem to control in the world. This disease is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can cause inflammation that can trigger increased levels of C-Reactive Protein and leukocytes in the body. This study was conducted to determine the correlation between C-Reactive Protein levels and the number of leukocytes with treatment phases 0 and 2 months in BKPM Purwokerto. The design of this study was an analytical observation with a cross-sectional research design. Results from 30 pulmonary tuberculosis patients treated for 0 and 2 months showed a correlation between CRP levels and white blood cell counts (p = 0.002, r = 0.445). There is a moderate relationship between CRP levels and leukocyte counts. High levels of CRP correlate with increasing the number of leukocytes. More research is needed on the relationship between CRP levels and leukocyte counts with different phases of treatment.

Abstract

Hemoglobin levels can be used as an indicator of a decrease in a person's nutritional status. Radiotherapy can result in a decrease in nutritional status in nasopharyngeal cancer patients. This study aims to prove the existence of differences in hemoglobin levels in nasopharyngeal cancer patients before and after radiotherapy. This study used a retrospective design, based on medical record data of nasopharyngeal cancer patients who were treated at rsud Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo January – May 2022 Data analysis in this study includes descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing. Test the hypothesis using the T Dependent test with normal distributed data. The degree of meaningfulness is p ≤ 0.05. The research data is normally distributed so that the T Dependent test is used. A meaningful comparison of hemoglobin levels was obtained in patients with nasopharyngeal cancer before and after radiation with p 0.003 So it can be concluded that there is a significant comparison with hemoglobin levels in nasopharyngeal cancer patients before and after radiation at rsud Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo.

Abstract

Dewasa ini telah ditetapkan standar operasional prosedur untuk praktik venipuncture. Phlebotomyst yang melakukan tindakan tersebut harus memberi suatu alat pada area bawah siku pasien sebelum melakukan tindakan venipuncture. Fungsi alat ini salah satunya untuk memberikan kenyamanan pada pasien serta memudahkan akses flebotomis mencari pembuluh darah vena. Fakta di lapangan menunjukkan belum ada suatu alat fungsional yang khusus digunakan untuk phlebotomyst melakukan pengambilan darah vena secara efektif dan efisien. Alat yang biasa digunakan oleh phlebotomyst dapat berupa benda-benda apa saja yang difungsikan untuk meluruskan tangan pasien dan terkadang menggunakan benda-benda seadanya yang dapat menimbulkan ketidaknyamanan, kecemasan, menyebabkan terjadinya hematom dan media untuk menularkan penyakit serta kualitas dari sampel yang kurang baik. Tujuan dari penlitian ini adalah untuk membuat suatu alat yang dapat digunakan untuk memberikan kenyamanan pada pasien, serta mengurangi risiko terjadinya hematom (pecahnya pembuluh darah) saat dilakukan tindakan venepuncture. Pada penelitian ini, kursi phlebotomy berbasis IoT telah berhasil dibuat menggunakan Node MCU tsp 8266 serta linier actuator hidrolik. Bagian lengan pada kursi tersebut diberikan bantalan yang lembut serta dapat diatur ketingggiannya sesuai dengan kenyamanan tangan pasien. Pengaturan ketinggian dapat dilakukan secara otomatis menggunakan smartphone. Dengan adanya alat ini diharapkan pengambilan sampel darah pasien lebih efisen, efektif, serta memenuhi syarat dan standar, sehingga pasien merasa puas terhadap pelayanan laboratorium yang diberikan.
