Abstract

Drug storage is a method of maintaining pharmaceutical supplies aimed at maintaining the quality of a drug. Improper storage of drugs can cause drug damage, be ineffective in treatment, and will be a loss to the hospital. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of drug storage in the Pharmacy Installation of Faisal Islamic Hospital, Makassar City. This research is a descriptive qualitative research in which the data is obtained from in-depth interviews, direct observation, document review, and checking of the condition of drug stability in the Pharmacy Installation. The results showed that the facilities and infrastructure only reached 81% compliance, were some shortcomings such as moldy walls and no double doors. Preparation of drugs in the storage warehouse of the Pharmacy Installation of the Faisal Islamic Hospital reached 100% carried out according to applicable standards. The recording of the card stock has been carried out well with a conformity percentage of 100%. Checking the condition of drugs such as color, odor, shape, clarity, and packaging is done properly every day, checking expiration every month. This study concludes that facilities and infrastructure are one of the supports to improve pharmaceutical services in hospitals in terms of storage.

Abstract

Antibiotik merupakan obat yang digunakan untuk pencegahan dan pengobatan infeksi. Infeksi yang timbul akibat dari adanya bakteri. Penggunan antibiotik yang tidak tepat dapat menimbulkan terjadinya resistensi terhadap kuman yang disebabkan oleh bakteri. Resisten adalah kemampuan suatu bakteri untuk melemahkan potensi dari antibiotik. Bakteri yang berubah menjadi kebal terhadap antibiotik sehingga antibiotik tidak mampu lagi menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri ataupun mematikannya maka kondisi ini bakteri telah resisten terhadap antibiotik tersebut. Infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri resisten yang menjadi penyebab terjadinya infeksi akan lebih sulit penyembuhannya, hal ini disebabkan bakteri tersebut menghasilkan suatu enzim yang dapat melemahkan bahkan menghancurkan antibotik. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan mengetahui pemahaman dan memberikan edukasi penggunaan antiniotik pada masyarakat di Pasar Niaga Daya Makassar. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah metode wawancara dan pengisian quisioner. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan yang diperoleh penggunaan antibiotik paling tinggi di tujukan untuk demam dan infeksi luka sebesar 25,97%. Masih ditemukan penggunaan antibiotik tidak sesuai indikasi. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh maka disimpulkan bahwa masyarakat yang menjadi responden pada kegiatan ini tingkat pengetahuan penggunaan obat antibiotik masih kurang dan pemberian edukasi diperlukan untuk peningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat

Abstract

Antibiotics are drugs that are used to treat bacterial infections. The thing that must be considered by pharmacists is the use of antibiotics without a doctor's prescription where if used incorrectly it will cause the problem of antibiotic resistance in a population. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase public basic knowledge of current treatment by providing drug information or education to the community. This activity was carried out by gathering 50 respondents to conduct interviews (pre-test and post-test) and public education on the theme of antibiotic resistance. Based on the results obtained, the community's understanding in terms of the use of antibiotics is increasing regarding the rules for use and when to use antibiotics. The public understands for free buying antibiotics without a doctor's prescription is a bad choice and there are people who based knowledge on antibiotic resistance, antimicrobial resistance, or drug resistance addition. Public understanding of the use of antibiotics is still low. This was proven when people bought antibiotics freely anywhere.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by increased blood glucose levels. Currently, the treatment of diabetes mellitus uses synthetic or chemical drugs and natural ingredients such as virgin coconut oil. Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is extracted with minimal heating and no chemical purification process. This study aims to obtain data on the impact of VCO as an antidiabetic obtained from several research journals. This literature study uses a narrative review method obtained from the Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Science Direct databases. The results of this study indicate that VCO can be used as an alternative to lowering blood glucose levels because it has antidiabetic activity. Medium-chain fatty acid (MCFA) lauric acid in VCO can stimulate insulin production in pancreatic beta cells. This study concludes that virgin coconut oil can potentially reduce blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Antibiotik adalah obat yang digunakan untuk mengobati infeksi bakteri. Antibiotik dapat bersifat bakterisida (membunuh bakteri) atau bakteriostatik (menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri). Masalah terbesar dengan penggunaan antibiotik yang tidak tepat adalah resistensi. Salah satu faktor penyebab resistensi obat adalah kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan obat terutama antibiotik. Salah satu upaya yang telah dilakukan dalam mengedukasi masyarakat dengan tema rasionalisasi penggunaan antibiotik. Sasaran pengabdian ini adalah masyarakat sekitar Losari. Perancangan pengabdian masyarakat ini menggunakan metode observational deskriptif dengan pendekatan menggunakan Google form berupa kuesioner untuk diisi oleh responden. Jumlah sampel dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah 33 responden yang ditentukan secara acak di masyarakat setempat. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data kuesioner, masyarakat belum memahami penggunaan antibiotik dan resistensi antibiotik. Sehingga dilakukan tindak lanjut berupa edukasi penggunaan antibiotik secara rasional. Dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik yang rasional, maka secara tidak langsung akan menurunkan kejadian resistensi antibiotik.

Abstract

Mitra The Pure Coffee saat ini sudah memiliki menu minuman sehat yakni teh Krokot (Portulaca oleraceae), memiliki akun digital marketplace serta telah memperoleh sertifikat halal dari LPPOM MUI (no.sertifikat 06120021670123). Mitra saat ini memiliki keinginan untuk menjual produk cemilan sehat dalam upaya diversifikasi produk sehingga dapat menaikkan omset bulanan. Namun, mitra belum memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup dan ide peluang usaha. Beberapa kendala yang dihadapi oleh mitra sasaran PkM adalah : (1) Kurangnya pengetahuan mitra terkait pangan fungsional serta potensinya untuk dapat dijadikan sebagai ide peluang usaha., (2) Kurangnya pengetahuan mitra tentang keamanan pangan dan praktek pengolahan makanan yang baik (Good Manufacturing Practices), (3) Kurangnya pengetahuan mitra dalam produksi Krokonies (Brownies Krokot Sehat). Melalui kegiatan PkM ini, kami memfasilitasi mitra melalui : (1) Melakukan penyuluhan tentang pangan fungsional serta potensinya untuk dapat dijadikan ide peluang usaha, (2) Melakukan Penyuluhan “Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)” (3) Melakukan pendampingan kepada mitra dalam produksi Krokonies (Brownies Krokot Sehat). Metode yang dilakukan untuk mencapai target luaran (1) penyuluhan terkait pangan fungsional serta potensinya sebagai ide peluang usaha, (2) Penyuluhan Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), dan (3) Pendampingan Produksi Krokonies (Brownies Krokot Sehat). Untuk mengetahui tingkat keberhasilan kegiatan edukasi yang dilakukan, tim pengabdi melakukan pretest-posttest. Penyuluhan terkait GMP dan peluang Krokot sebagai ide usaha UMKM dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mitra dalam memahami Good Manufacturing Practice dan peluang Krokonies sebagai ide usaha (p-value<0.001). Pendampingan pembuatan Krokonies dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mitra dalam memahami prosedur pembuatannya (p-value<0.001). Krokonies dapat dijadikan peluang ide usaha baru dalam upaya diversifikasi produk bagi mitra.

Abstract

Motor vehicle users in Indonesia are among the highest in Southeast Asia. The increase in the population of motor vehicles can lead to increased use of vehicle lubricants. However, it also threatens the environment by leaving lead (Pb) waste on the oil that has been used, which, if not properly managed, can harm the environment. Because used oil contains some heavy metals, one of them is Pb metal, or lead. It's one of the B3 wastes, which is a dangerous and toxic material that will cause pollution in the environment. Using pineapple leaves is one way to handle waste with natural ingredients. The aim of this study was to find out whether the pineapple leaf can adsorb lead metal (Pb) from waste oil and how the contact time of the adsorptive leaf best affects the amount of Pb ions adsorbed into waste oil. The study was conducted using experimental in vitro techniques. The first process in this study was to activate the pineapple leaf with 2% NaOH. Then, the adsorbent from the activated pineapan leaf was linked to the used oil at different times (10, 20, 30, and 40 minutes) to cause the Pb metal adsorption. (timbal). With the cellulose contained in pineapple leaves, heavy metals can be reduced in waste oils through adsorption or absorption processes. Contact time is the component that affects the adsorption process

Abstract

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation of the joints. The selection of corticosteroids with broad indications is used as an adjunct therapy because of its anti-inflammatory activity and immune suppression. The research aimed to determine the efficacy and safety profile of corticosteroids in rheumatoid arthritis patients. The method used was a literature review with a narrative review design based on inclusion and exclusion criteria through the PubMed and Google Scholar databases. The results showed that the Prednisone group with varying doses of 5 mg; 6.25 mg; 10 mg gave better efficacy than the placebo group or Methotrexate monotherapy against disease activity with the DAS28 parameter. Prednisone safety was observed from the side effects, hypertension; hyperglycemia and adverse events, headache; reported diarrhea. The review show that the use of Prednisone tab 10 mg/day provided the best efficacy in the first 3 months (p<0.001) with the DAS28 parameter which achieved the greatest clinical remission. The side effects of Prednisone could not be concluded between the effect of dose and the level of drug safety.

Abstract

Diproduksi dari tanaman Cocos nucifera, minyak kelapa murni merupakan produk yang banyak digunakan di Indonesia, khususnya di Sulawesi Selatan di Indonesia tempat tanaman ini tumbuh. Namun, hanya sedikit orang yang menyadari dampak kesehatan sistemik virgin coconut oil (VCO). Fokus tinjauan ini ditentukan untuk menjelaskan efek farmakologi dari VCO. Artikel yang di identifikasi menggunakan metode eksperimental serta mempertimbangkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi dalam pemilihannya dengan menggunakan kata kunci yang digunakan. Efek nefroprotektif VCO juga dianggap sebagai efek antioksidan karena peran VCO dalam mencegah berkembangnya stres oksidatif diduga dapat menurunkan kemungkinan peningkatan ureum dan kreatinin. VCO yang mengandung medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA) dan memiliki sifat antioksidan diduga mampu menurunkan glukosa darah dengan cara meningkatkan laju metabolisme sehingga glukosa darah dapat diubah menjadi energi. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa VCO mempengaruhi metabolisme glukosa dan lipid pada penderita diabetes dengan menurunkan kadar glukosa darah. VCO memiliki Asam laurat dan free fatty acids yang berfungsi untuk mereduksi stres oksidatif. Kata Kunci: Minyak kelapa murni, Farmakologi, Imunologi, Metabolisme, Dampak Terapi Produced from the Cocos nucifera plant, pure coconut oil is a product that is widely used in Indonesia, especially in South Celebes, where this plant grows. However, few people are aware of the systemic health effects of virgin coconut oil. (VCO). The focus of this review is to explain the pharmacological effects of VCO, as there has been no previous special review. The identified articles use experimental methods and consider inclusion and exclusion criteria in their selection using the keywords used. The nephroprotective effects of VCOs are also considered to be antioxidant effects because the role of the VCO in preventing the development of oxidative stress is suspected to reduce the likelihood of increased urea and creatinine. VCOs that contain medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) and have antioxidant properties are thought to be able to lower blood glucose by increasing the rate of metabolism so that blood sugar can be converted into energy. The results showed that VCO affects glucose and lipid metabolism in diabetics by lowering blood glucose levels. VCO has lauric acid and free fatty acids that serve to reduce oxidative stress.

Abstract

Burns are injuries resulting from tissue damage caused by contact with a heat source. The ethanol extract of pamelo orange peel (Citrus maxima) contains alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and saponins, which have been shown to enhance wound healing by accelerating epithelialization. This study aimed to evaluate the effect and determine the most effective concentration of ethanol extract of pamelo orange peel on burn wound healing in white rats. Sixteen rats were divided into four groups: a negative control group treated with 1% CMC-Na, two treatment groups receiving 3% and 6% ethanol extract of pamelo orange peel, and a positive control group treated with Lanakeloid-E®. Burns were induced on the rats' backs using a hot plate, followed by topical treatment for 21 days. Wound area measurements were taken on days 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 21 using a caliper. The results indicated that the ethanol extract of pamelo orange peel significantly promoted wound healing in the treated rats. Both the 3% and 6% concentrations reduced wound diameter, with the 3% concentration proving to be the most effective, achieving an 86.86% wound healing rate. The effectiveness of the extract is likely due to the presence of alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and saponins.
