Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the project-based learning model in enhancing students' ability to write observational report texts in Class IX-10 at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. The research addresses the problem of students’ low proficiency in composing observational reports that meet structural and linguistic conventions. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted over two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were gathered through writing tests, classroom observations, and interviews, and analyzed using a combination of descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The participants were 29 students (13 males and 16 females). The findings indicate that the implementation of the project-based learning model led to measurable improvements in students’ writing performance. In the first cycle, students demonstrated moderate progress, while the second cycle showed significant gains, with most students surpassing the minimum competency threshold. Students also displayed increased engagement and autonomy in the learning process, alongside enhanced skills in organizing, analyzing, and reporting observations coherently. These results suggest that project-based learning fosters active learning, critical thinking, and sustained motivation, making it an effective pedagogical approach for developing writing skills, particularly in the context of observational report texts.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating Quizizz as a digital learning medium to enhance students’ mastery of structural and linguistic features in discussion texts, specifically targeting Class IX-8 students at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with both quantitative and qualitative approaches, the study involved 31 students whose learning outcomes were evaluated through formative assessments, observations, and student response questionnaires. Prior to the intervention, the average pre-test score was 86.2, with 67.7% of students scoring ?85. Following the implementation of Quizizz across learning cycles, the average post-test score rose to 92.5, with 71% scoring ?90. In the experimental setting, scores further improved to an average of 93.6, with 83.9% of students attaining ?90. Survey results revealed that 77.4% of students believed Quizizz enhanced their understanding of the material, while 90.3% appreciated its real-time feedback. The gamified elements of Quizizz—such as point systems and leaderboards—were shown to increase motivation and foster a more interactive, engaging learning experience. The findings underscore Quizizz’s potential as an effective digital tool to support academic achievement in language learning, particularly in the context of discussion text writing.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pasar Terong merupakan salah satu pasar tradisional yang berada di Kota Makassar Sulawesi Selatan yang memiliki jumlah pedagang pedagang kaki lima di sepanjang jalan pasar terong sebanyak 195 jiwa. Volume sampah yang dihasilkan oleh pasar terong terus meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya aktivitas komersial dan jumlah pedagang serta pembeli, dan beragamnya barang yang dijual, serta masyarakat yang tinggal di sekitar pasar, terutama menjelang ramadhan dan lebaran. Permasalahan sampah di pasar ditemukan banyak sampah yang berserakan di depan stand, di pinggir jalan atau di depan kios-kios pedagang. Sampah yang tersebar di sekitar lingkungan pasar berasal dari aktivitas para pedagang dan warga sekitar. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor sosial-ekonomi terhadap perilaku pengelolaan sampah para pedagang kaki lima sepanjang jalan pasar terong. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian dengan pendekatan kuantitatif yaitu dengan cara mengumpulkan data melalui kuesioner. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pedagang kaki lima di sepanjang pasar terong dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 65 jiwa dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Variabel bebas penelitian ini adalah faktor sosial ekonomi (umur, jenis kelamin, tingkat pendidikan, tingkat pendapatan dan pengetahuan), sedangkan variabel terikat adalah perilaku pengelolaan sampah. Teknik analasis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adala analisis regresi logistik dengan menggunakan SPSS. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa perilaku pengelolaan sampah di kalangan pedagang kaki lima pasar terong terkategori cukup baik dengan nilai rata-rata 6,11 dari maksimum 9. Sedangkan untuk pengaruh faktor sosial ekonomi diperoleh dari nilai fhitung lebih besar dari ftabel (8,525 > 1,671) dengan nilai taraf signifikansinya adalah 0,130 > 0,05, maka hipotesisnya ditolak. Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa faktor sosial-ekonomi tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap perilaku pengelolaan sampah pasar. Kata Kunci: Sosial Ekonomi, Perilaku, Pengelolaan, Sampah, Pedagang, Pasar   ABSTRACT Terong Market is one of the traditional markets in Makassar City, South Sulawesi, which has 195 street vendors along the terong market road. The volume of waste generated by the terong market continues to increase along with the increase in commercial activity and the number of traders and buyers, and the variety of goods sold, as well as the people who live around the market, especially before Ramadan and Eid. Waste problems in the market are found scattered in front of stands, on the side of the road or in front of traders' stalls. Waste scattered around the market environment comes from the activities of traders and local residents. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of socio-economic factors on the waste management behavior of street vendors along the terong market road. The research method used is a research method with a quantitative approach, namely by collecting data through a questionnaire. The population in this study were street vendors along the terong market with a sample size of 65 people using random sampling technique. The independent variables of this study are socioeconomic factors (age, gender, education level, income level and knowledge), while the dependent variable is waste management behavior. The analytical technique used in this study is logistic regression analysis using SPSS. Based on the results of the study, it was found that waste management behavior among street vendors in the eggplant market was categorized as quite good with an average value of 6.11 out of a maximum of 9. Meanwhile, the effect of socio-economic factors was obtained from the value of fcount greater than ftabel (8.525> 1.671) with a significance level value of 0.130> 0.05, so the hypothesis was rejected. So it is concluded that socio-economic factors have no significant influence on market waste management behavior.

Abstract

Background: Noncommunicable diseases, particularly cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes mellitus (DM), pose a significant global and national health burden. Patients with DM face a 2-4 times higher risk of CVD, the leading cause of mortality in over 65% of this population. Despite this, awareness and integrated screening for CVD risk among DM patients in primary healthcare settings, such as the Talise Health Center, remain limited. This community service initiative was designed to address this gap by implementing a comprehensive screening and personalized education program. Objective: This community service initiative aimed to detect CVD risk and provide targeted education to DM patients in the work area of the Talise Health Center. Methods: Methods: The activity was conducted on June 3, 2025, with 30 DM patients. The method involved a three-step process: (1) Screening of blood pressure, BMI, blood glucose, and cholesterol, with results plotted on the WHO/ISH risk prediction chart to stratify participants into low, moderate, or high 10-year CVD risk categories; (2) An educational session, comprising a pre-test, personalized counseling based on risk category, and a post-test to evaluate knowledge retention; (3) Dissemination of educational booklets and banners for sustained learning.Results: Screening revealed that 20 participants (66.7%) had low CVD risk, 9 (30.0%) had moderate risk, and 1 (3.3%) had high risk. The educational intervention was successful in reinforcing knowledge. The average knowledge score was increased at a high level (Pre-test score: 42,5.1% ± 10.2 vs. Post-test score: 82.0% ± 9.8).Conclusion and Suggestion: The finding that over one-third of screened DM patients were at moderate-to-high CVD risk underscores the critical need for integrated screening in primary care. Personalized counseling effectively maintained patient knowledge. It is strongly recommended that the Talise Health Center integrates routine CVD risk screening for all DM patients and continues providing targeted education to mitigate long-term cardiovascular complications.

Abstract

Sorghum is one type of cereal plant that has great potential to be developed in Indonesia because it has a wide adaptation area. Sorghum has been known and cultivated for a long time in several regions in Indonesia. The opportunity to increase production through increasing productivity is still very large because up to now the productivity that has been achieved is only 60% of the potential yield of each new variety that has a potential yield of 6 tons / ha. One of the causes of low sorghum production is due to minimum fertilization and nutrient-poor soil. Efforts that can be made to keep crop production balanced will require innovation in the supply of environmentally friendly plant nutrients, one of which is by utilizing bagasse waste into organic fertilizer. The study was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, Mendalo Indah Village, Jambi Luar Kota District, Muaro Jambi Regency which was located at an altitude of 35 m above sea level and Ultisol soil type. The study aimed to determine the effect of bagasse compost on the growth and yield of sorghum and to obtain a dose of bagasse compost that can provide the best growth and yield of sorghum. This study was conducted using a randomized block design (RBD) with one factor, namely the dose of organic bagasse organic fertilizer consisting of 4 levels of treatment. The treatment used in this study was (P0) administration of inorganic fertilizers, (P1) administration of 5 tons / ha bagasse organic fertilizer, (P2) giving 10 tons / ha bagasse organic fertilizer, (P3) giving bagasse organic fertilizer 15 ton / ha. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, age of flowering, root dry weight, plant dry weight, panicle length, seed weight per plant, weight of 1000 seeds, and yield per hectare. The results showed that bagasse compost treatment had a significant effect on plant height. However, there was no significant effect on the number of leaves, age of flowering, root dry weight, dry weight of plants, panicle length, weight of 1000 seeds and dry seed weight of planting and harvest index

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas V di SDN  17 Rio Pakava melalui penerapan metode pembelajaran Role Playing. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 10 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes hasil belajar, observasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Role Playing dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam proses pembelajaran dan memperbaiki pemahaman materi. Pada siklus pertama, persentase ketuntasan belajar siswa mencapai 70%, dan meningkat menjadi 90% pada siklus kedua. Peningkatan ini menunjukkan bahwa metode Role Playing efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, terutama dalam aspek keterampilan sosial, pemahaman konsep, dan kemampuan berkomunikasi. Dengan demikian, penerapan metode Role Playing direkomendasikan sebagai salah satu strategi pembelajaran interaktif yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di sekolah dasar.
