Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the differences between male and female students’ perception on the classroom environment.  This study was conducted at SMU Negeri 4 Banda Aceh with a total of 103 students, consist of 50 male students and 53 female students. Students’ perception was collected by using ‘What is Happening in This Class?’ (WIHIC) questioner. The Independent T-Test was used to analysethe collected data.The results showed that there were no differences between male and female perception on actual classroom environment. However,differences were found on student involvement preferred score. The male students’ preferred score was significantly higher than the female students’. This finding indicated that both male and female student preferred to be more involved in class, but the level of involvement that the male students wish for was higher than the female students’. Key Words: WIHIC, gender, classroom environment

Abstract

Difficulties encountered by student teacher during teacher training program were identified in this study. Descriptive method with questionaire as research instrument was used to gather information related to students difficulties. Forty eight respondents from Teaching Faculty of Abulyatama University were involved. The results revealed that lack of self confidence, class management, low level of competency in curriculum, teaching and learning method and also in assessing student work were the most difficulties often perceived by student teacher during teacher training program. Kata kunci        : difficulties, student teacher, teacher training program

Abstract

Penelititian ini bertujuan melihat hubungan antara situasi di dalam kelas pada setiap aspek kenyataan dan pendapat siswa terhadap pembelajaran biologi. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan tabel Krejcie-Morgan. Data yang digunakan adalah hasil dari jawaban kuesioner What is Happening in this Class (WIHIC) danTest of Biology Related Attitudes (TOBRA) yang telah diterjemahkan kedalam bahasa Indonesia. Analisis data menggunakan Uji T sertaUji korelasi pada interval kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian pada situasi di dalam kelas antara kenyataan dan harapan pada setiap aspek menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan, halini menunjukkan bahwa situasi harapan lebih tinggi dibandingkan situasi kenyataan. Pada hubungan situasi kenyataan di dalam kelas terhadap ketertarikan siswa pada mata pelajaran biologi terdapat korelasi yang signifikan pada setiap aspek, yaitu : aspek dukungan guru (0.350** > 0.194), keterlibatan siswa (0.323** > 0.194), investigasi (0.397** > 0.194), pelaksanaan tugas (0.380** > 0.194), aspek kerjasama (0.264** > 0.194) dana spekekuiti/pemerataan (0.319** > 0.194). Kecuali pada aspek kekompakan siswa, ( 0.009< 0.194).

Abstract

The Influence of NAA, 2-4-D and Lightness on Callus Development of Nilam Leaf (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) Tissue CultureABSTRACT. The research about the influence of NAA, 2-4-D and lightness on callus development of nilam’s leaf (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) Tissue culture had been done in cell and Molecular Biology Laboratory, Science Faculty of Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh since April to October 2006. This research using factorial experimental design with three factor (kind of auxin, auxin concentration and lightness). The result showed that kinds of auxin had not had any significant influence to callus development, but lightness and auxin concentration influence the callus development. Darkness treatment and the rise of auxin concentration increased to callus development.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the difficulties encountered by the prospective teacher of Biology FKIP Universitas Abulyatama during the Teaching Training Program at Personal issues. This research was a descriptive research with quantitative approach. Data collection in this study were obtained by questionnaires in the form of Likert scale. The result showed that lack of creativity was the main difficulties faced by the biology prospective teacher (67%; medium). On the other hand, being far from spouse, children and household related problems were the least encountered difficulties (28%; low) during the Teaching Training Program.

Abstract

The aims of this research was to determine the differences between female and male students’ perception toward Biology subject in classroom environment. This research was conducted at SMAN 4 Banda Aceh, with a total sample of 103 students. A Krejcie-Morgan table was used as the sampling technique. Students’ perception was collected by using “What is Happening in this Class (WIHIC)” questioner which has been translated into Indonesian. Collected data was analysed by the Independent T-Test. The results showed that the only differences perception betwen male and female students on actual classroom environtment was on teacher support (0,65). However, male and female students perception on the expected situation in classroom environment were differ on most aspect, except on student involvement (-0,17).

Abstract

Biology is always considered difficult either to teach or to learn. As a field of study that learning about living subjects, biology has very broad and abstract concepts. Many students find the abstract concepts of biology are hard to understand. Some students even feel that studying biology is a dull experience. This type of perception in students subsequently led to low academic achievement. Hence, an innovative and attractive learning approach is needed for teaching biology. Augmented Reality (AR) technology has a great possibility to improve biology learning experience due to its ability to concretize the abstract concepts in biology by providing natural interaction between virtual and real-time situations simultaneously. In the last decade, numerous research of implementing AR in education including biology learning have been studied globally and nationally. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of AR in improving biology learning especially for students in Indonesia, this literature review research is conducted. The reviewed articles are retrieved through Google Scholar database with the assigned criteria published between 2020 to 2024, AR implemented, biology learning, student perception, and/or achievement in biological studies. The analysis shows that implementing AR in biology learning increases students’ interest, learning motivation, involvement, collaboration, independent learning, knowledge retention, and achievement. However, the conflicted finding is reported regarding the influence of AR on students’ critical thinking ability. Technical problems related to downloading and distributing AR applications are the main challenge that has been reported when using AR in biology learning.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic condition requires the world of education to change the learning system from a face-to-face to an online learning process. The internet is one of the media that can help teachers and students in the teaching and learning process. The use of internet media for learning during the pandemic must still be in the guidance of teachers and parents. Internet media is a media without limit, a variety of information that is often unfiltered is available in the virtual world. So clear and firm guidelines are needed regarding the use of the internet for students. This service activity was held on 14-15 January 2022, at Gampong Peurada 1 Banda Aceh. The choice of location for the activity is because Gampong Peurada is one of the Red Zone areas for the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2021. The results of the socialization show that generally parents are still not aware of the use of Parental Control applications in the online learning process.Keywords: Covid-19, internet usage, learning process, parental control.
